@@David-vr4bx That's not true at all. They fight for territory and sure some die, but how many other species of animals do the same. There was that one rogue Chimp Troop, I believe the Ngogo Chimps that were super aggressive and even killed members of their own troop, but they are an exception to the rule.
'normal male orangutan responding appropriately to being shot at with a dart' is a more accurate title.

You don't want this kind of behavior toward humans if you wish to convince locals to accept big wild animals. This is cool but not if you're a villager in Borneo with a 7 year old that walks with the other kids to the next village over for school.

@@MassNssen He defends himself not without a reason, if we do not disturb their nature they will not disturb us, orangutans and Borneo humans have existed side by side since the dawn of time, but because human selfishness destroys their habitat, orangutans don't see the good in people, what if your house was taken by people, would you let them treat you as they please because they're afraid you're angry because they're taking ur house?

@@MassNssen orangutans are not like humans. Even though males are territorial, they will not attack some normal person passing by on a path. Here there are many people with weapons surrounding him and he will obviously behave aggressively.

He is magnificent. They did a wonderful job of raising him. Those cheek pads are a good indicator of how He will fare out in the big jungle, with bigger, older males. Thank you for all you do for these most awesome, incredible primates.

This makes me so so so happy. His aggression isnt just good practice for other males he will meet in the forest, but also for horrible humans with guns not containing sedatives

@Goosa Poosa the aggression can be used to dissuade naive poachers though, I heard that was the case with a certain tiger known as Ustad by rangers which due to his aggressive nature made poachers reluctant to venture in the territory until he was removed from the area after killing several humans unprovoked. Similarly, I’ve heard cases of silverback gorillas and male chimpanzees protecting their troops from poachers attacks despite often dying in the process. Now granted an orangutan isn’t as fierce or fast as these other animals I’ve mentioned but still I don’t think aggression is a bad trait

They can swim, if they learn to, but very few actually do and in the wild it’s so dangerous that few have the curiosity to. They learn by example normally

They're definitely one of the calmer apes, but they'll still defend themselves and their territory like any other animal.

200 pounds? He looks a lot more than 200 pounds. I'd even say closer to 350 or 400.

It was so funny when Kasper was swinging the stick at the guys in the water, and smart as heck to not linger after they shot at him the first time. The way the group dispersed in the beginning had cracking up so hard.😂
What a majestic animal. Totally awe inspiring. I really hope we can save the orangutans the world will be a lesser place without them . One of the most beautiful and fascinating life forms on the planet.

Thats great how he picks up the club and casually swings it at them.. Such an intelligent guy! You can tell he just wants to be left alone no more no less at his home in peace. Like most people would do to uninvited guest at there house. It would be very interesting to see what they are millions of years from now. Probably very human like! Thats if they survive for a million years that all depends on the current most intelligent primates on there survival. I think they will be around for a long time especially since humans are taking conservation more seriously now.

@@ghillepig2 No, his hand placement wasn't the worst in the world. It was his support arm elbow placement that should have been changed so he could have adopted the standing target stance.
I’ve always seen footage of aggressive chimps and gorillas but I’ve realised I’ve never seen an angry orangutang.
To be fair, they were pointing him with a weapon on his own territory.
