These beautiful primates watched their mother murdered by being shot upwards of around 50 times with a pellet gun when she falls to the ground still alive but blind they wack her to pieces with a machete. They will accidentally cut the baby. They then chain the baby up or put it in a crate about the size of a large dog cage. They are traumatized and you want to handcuff them to a tree? This will damage them even more. She would spend the first 10years of her life on her mother who teaches her where every source of food is how to build a nest and so much more. They are never around any other Orangutans. Until the mother hears the call of a male. She goes has sex gets pregnant then around 12 or 13 the first child goes off on her own

The fact they were stolen and made to be pets is horrific and what put trauma in to them in the first place. Some lost their mothers to poaching and deforestation. However, these care takers have to encourage them to become orangutans. Which means they have to be independent or else they won't survive. They won't always have a care taker around, especially not IN THE WILD. Are you dedicating your entire life to taking care of orangutans? If not, maybe you should find something else to do. They rotate surrogates to avoid attachment. Also, Chiquita has been recently been released into the wild and is very independent 💕

LOVE CHIQUITA!!!!! I LOVE WATCHING THIS VIDEO OVER AND OVER SHE IS JUST SO CUTE AND THEY CALL HER "DIVA CHIQUITA" DIVA SHE IS AND SO SPOILED SHE IS TOO FUNNY!!! I'M HAPPY TO SEE THEY TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE ANIMALS .

I thought they rotated the caregivers frequently, so the Orangutans WOULDN'T get too attached to one carer in particular? That was definitely a full-blown temper tantrum though. She was NOT happy that Mommy left her to go back to the other babies.

They said that Chiquita got attached because she was nursed back to health by that one caretaker, and then just stayed attached like that.

OMG I'd be useless at the "separation-independence" phase because I'd be so attached I wouldn't ever want to let her go 💔😭💔 I'd sneak her home and raise her as my own daughter ❤️❤️❤️ lol OMG this is so hard because I know that the babies are orphaned and being raised to be returned to the wild, where they need to be, wild and FREE, but seriously I'd become so attached that it would break my heart a million times over when time to begin letting her become more independent arrived... Thank you to all of you who love them and keep them safe and protected and raise them to become independent adults who can return to their home and know that they have the absolute best chance out in the cruel harsh world 💜🤗💜

They should switch the rules and be able to steal the children of poachers. Then maybe they might stop poachers to give them some empathy. I'm just saying I would want to, but wouldn't.
