HBO presented a Documentary on The Bee Gees, I can’t remember the title name of documentary, but was great. It show videos of their personal and professional lives including several interviews. They are absolutely amazing. I love their music. I grew up listening and dancing to their music. They also wrote songs for many other artists. Their catalog of music is over 200 ( I think). in my opinion, this is the best song they ever recorded, and one of my absolute favourites ever! everything from the pace, the combination of low and high notes, to that soaring key change and crescendo at the end! this was a great reaction, and yes google can be incredibly insensitive - they broke up briefly in the late 60s due to combating young egos, but they mended their relationship soon after in 1970

Yes, Maurice had an alcohol problem. Tragic how three of them died so young.
Maurice is playing bass, he’s an multi-instrumentalist. They broke up for 18 months and both Robin in his solo career and Barry and Maurice still as Bee Gees had #2 songs at the same time but they were not happy and realized that they enjoyed making music together and enjoyed sharing their success. Robin and Barry both had strong personalities and both wanted to be lead but according to several interviews I’ve seen they say they learned to leave their egos aside and learned to compromise. Maurice started drinking when he was just 17 and he turned into an alcoholic. He stoped drinking in 1991 and continued a life of sobriety until the end of his life. They have a lot of misinformation about them and that made them very cautious about giving interviews. There was never any bee gee that tried to commit suicide and the only thing about child abuse was that Barry said that a man had tried to abuse him when he was 4 years old. In interviews they always said they were each others best friends. Another great song to react to from The Main Course album is WIND OF CHANGE, thanks.
The childhood abuse that Barry talks about was a stranger that tried to molest him around the age of 4.....nothing to do with his parents....the Brothers had AMAZING parents. Robin, Maurice (Morris) and Andy did NOT commit suicide.....Andy died from Myochardis ( inflation of the sack that surrounds the heart) drug use exacerbated his heart condition....Andy played guitar (I think he also might have played the piano or keyboards but don't quote me on that)......none of the Brothers could read or write music.....they created their beautiful songs by ear. The Bee Gees are the GREATEST group to EVER grace the music world.....There will NEVER be ANOTHER group like them....EVER!!!!
I hear you about getting info from the internet. It's good to have caution. They did breakup for about 15 months. Got back together and the songs "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" and "Lonely Days" came from them getting back together. There are many interviews with them talking of their troubles. They were honest about it. They had their vices and cleaned up with age and wisdom. Their interviews are honest and humble. Have a great night! Thanks

The Bee Gees (Brothers Gibb) wrote ALL of their own songs: The Bee Gees are a band with range. Led by the brothers Gibb - Barry, Maurice, and Robin - they saw their share of evolution over a five-decades-long career, but they excelled in every one of their musical phases. Disco, soul, soft rock, they played it all, but even more so, they penned it all.

Graet all Brothers can sing the falsetto. Its amazing
Pure HEAVEN in those voices!!! The composition/arrangement and execution is TOP NOTCH!!!
... my absolute favorite Bee Gees song. I still can't understand why this song didn't hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The 3rd single from their fantastic 1975 R&B album "Main Course". If you decide to listen to their 2nd single from the album, "Nights On Broadway", I highly suggest you watch the LIVE 1975 performance from "The Midnight Special". It is fantastic. Make sure you watch the one that DOES NOT say anything about remastered or whatnot because that is just where someone took the live video and put the studio audio version over it. You want the LIVE version that starts out with an introduction by Natalie Cole. Seriously, you will not be disappointed if you watch this. It is a fantastic performance and a fantastic song.
Yes, that stellar falsetto was Barry Gibb. When I bought the 45 record of "Fanny" I played it seven times first day, eventually wore out the vinyl. At 6:05 pretty sure that's Barry you're hearing.🎼
You wanted us to let you know if we've seen the Bee Gees. I was fortunate to see them and Andy back in 1980. They were absolutely amazing. Oh just to let you know, How can you mend a broken heart came out in the mid to late sixties before AL Greene version. And Robin starts the song. It's his voice you hear first.
All three brothers had their own unique falsetto's, baritone chest voices, and everything in-between, and were also able to slide up and down with ease!!! IMO, they are the most talented group, & exceptional singers of all time! If you would like to hear more of Maurice with his falsetto, and Barry singing mostly chest voice, check out, Nights on Broadway!!! *They were such a wonderful gift to the music industry & our ears* 💝💝💝
The Bee Gees were very young (17 & 20) when they had their first international success in 1967. Between August 1967 and March 1969 they had released 4 albums, including double album Odessa. Robin and Barry were both strong personalities and both sang lead. Robin wanted to be recognized as a lead singer but felt their manager only wanted Barry to be the leader. He and Barry would argue over who should be the leader of the group. Robin felt he should be the leader as their early international success was with songs where Robin sang or shared the lead vocal. In interviews Robin and Barry told how they were very young and very green to the ways of the music industry and that they each had industry supporters telling them they didn't need the other two. Robin decided that he'd had enough and left the band to record and tour as a solo act. He had a solo #2 hit with "Saved by the Bell" around the same time as Barry and Maurice had a #2 hit with "Don't Forget to Remember", recorded as The Bee Gees. The Bee Gees got back together after 15 months apart and stayed together until Maurice's death. During the 80's when the Bee Gees decided to write and produce for others Robin recorded a few solo albums that were successful in Europe Barry and Robin did a few special appearances as the Bee Gees after Maurice died, but they were no longer recording new music or touring.
Barry plays guitar, Maurice played guitar, base and keyboards. Robin in the middle didn't play. After a year of being apart they reunited. Robin sang lead on more tracks but Maurice was happy remaining in the background singing harmony. Robin died of cancer. Maurice died of a heart attack. Baby brother Andy died at a very young age. And Berry celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary several years ago. He produced for a while

@lauriebarnes2999

On stage, yes, his beautiful voice was his instrument. However, Robin played several instruments including piano, accordion and even a harp. Listen to "Really and Sincerely", the song he wrote the day after he and his future wife Molly were in the Hither Green train disaster. He had just purchased an accordion and it was the prominent instrument in this very sad song. Listen to the studio version but also look for his 1971 Melbourne concert performance of this extraordinary song. You can tell even almost 4 years later that he was still quite traumatized from the horrible experience that he and Molly went through. He was 17 at the time of the crash and found the strength to pull people from the wreckage who were very badly hurt and many who were rescued by people like Robin didn't make it. Many had to have limbs amputated to free them. Thank God that Robin was able to afford first class tickets because "Massachusetts" had just hit #1 and he himself said this was probably what saved them. Most of the casualties were in second class.
Robin played a variety of instruments to include: keyboard..piano...acoustic guitar
The sound track of my life the 60's 70's 80's 90's many hits probably the best pop music ever

It’s not multiple tracks. The vocalisation is so complex, they all could sing all the falsetto, and tenor parts, and they did this live,in this recording. They did break up,but they got back togeter.Their lder sister,Lesley, stood in for Robin. They got back together, and the rest is history.None of them killed them self.
That's a ride! I love seeing reactions like yours. Maurice recovered and lived many straight and happy years with his family. Robin is in the middle. Mo played bass guitar and keyboards, Robin played as well but more when they were composing. There's a lot of rubbish written about them. Trust the fans more than Google!
Maurice was a multi instrumentalist.....he played keyboard lead guitar base and also in the early years percussion..it was said that he could coax music out of any instrument he laid his hands on......on this track he was the bassist Barry played rhythm guitar ..... Robin by his own admission didn't like playing instruments he preferred to concentrate on developing his voice......
Every song on the album is great. This is my favorite however.
I love love love the way you appreciate these brothers! They are awesome, right?
Multiple tracks - yes this was a produced number. They couldn't sing it live. Their music is tight, as they say in bis. Probably why they have impressed so many POC across all other genres.
Falsetto is Barry, but Maurice the on playing the bass is a high harmony. It's like they can interchange their voices and sound like one voice.
No one committed suicide. You could say Andy came the closest with his cocaine abuse but it was actually his heart that gave in. Just when he was trying to get his life back together. Fanny is a feminine given name. Its origins include diminutives of the French name Frances meaning "free one", and of the name "Estefanía", a Spanish version of Stephanie, meaning "crown". The name Fanny (פאני/פני) may also derive from Yiddish, as an anglicized Feigel, Feigele, Feiga or Fejga, meaning "bird".

Careful of those Google questions that pop up in a search-- those are questions asked by other curious people, and are misleading. NO suicide!! Baby brother Andy died of a heart infection "myocarditis," brought on by years of drug abuse (cocaine). When he died, he was clean for almost two years, but the damage was done to his heart. He died a few days after his 30th birthday. It was a huge trauma to his whole family, especially Barry and their dad. Andy was a solo star in his own right, holds the record of three consecutive # 1 hits from the start, written by his brothers, who also sang backup on his records. Barry produced his albums with co-producers Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson. Also, Maurice joined AA a few years after Andy's death, got to enjoy a decade sober before he died suddenly after emergency intestinal surgery. Robin passed after a 3-yr battle with cancer. Barry is the sole brother standing, still active at age 76, married 52 yrs to Linda Gray and raised 4 sons and a daughter with her. Barry revealed he was nearly molested at the age of 4 by a stranger who had molested other young kids.He was interviewed by police at the time.

The entire family was traumatized by Andy's death. Mo had hung up on him when he called to wish him happy birthday because Andy had been drinking. Andy was living with Robin when he died but there was nothing he could do so he felt unnecessarily responsible. Hugh realised he had pushed Andy too soon. Barry tried tough love and so was at odds with Andy when he died. Their mother Barbara OBVIOUSLY suffered trauma. So did their sister.
