If you ever think Magnus has lost his form he took an almost lost position equalized, then won. I don't normally jump on a champions bandwagon but he's the goat.

and that was actually the first professional chess game i ever watched live. the next game surprised me quite a bit, because it was over so quickly...
That game was incredible. Really. I'm #TeamNepo so I'm a bit sad, but the chess was excellent and I'm 100% looking forward to more dynamic chess to come in these matches! Thanks for elucidating some of the reasoning behind moves and positions - very much helped me understand the match more.
Such a good recap/analysis. You the best, thanks for your hard work, brother!
Great analysis, as usual, and an excellent development in this match!
I was there for the last hour, it was amazing to see the last part. Such a beaty, Ian was tired at the end where there was only one rook knight and 3 pawns, so everyone knew magnus was gonna win.
You did a masterful job explaining all the important positions! Thanks - much appreciated…
That chess clock should stay in every next Nelsi's recap videos because it's so neat
This was intense. Recap kept me on the edge of my seat. Great game.
Phenomenal recap. Thanks so much!
thx for this analysis.nice done
Awesome analysis! 👍
Thanks Nelson. Great content!
The first channel with the analysis of the historic game!
Lovely game with BEST COMMENTARY and good views attracting thumbnail... Goooooddddd
Thanks for the break down Nelson. Great video ♟
"knights are good defender of kings" which is ironic since in real life there are royal knights to protect specifically the royal and to think chess made knights the defender of kings is kind of nice reference to real knights
Very good video of the game. Thank you
wow what a great game that shot on the pawn was absolutely insane by the queen... insane match gg
A great video that explains a very complicated game
Missing your recaps. Your perspective is realistic and precise! Please
I have never understood chess more than after watching this. In my opinion,most tournament explanations are more complicated than Magic the gathering.
I wouldve lost a rook with white or the bish with black faster than a Dubai minute. That's fast! Great game & great recap.
thanks for bringing us this tough game :)
Great job
@Chess Vibes.... I have a question and apologies if you have answered this before in another video... How do you decide what defense to play? Like the "Greatest game ever played" is what got me thinking more about this. Ficsher played the Grunsfeld defense, but did he know he was gonna play that when he woke up that day? OR did he decide that based on Byrne's first move? (1- Nf3 Nf6)
Great breakdown! Going to b remember that king opposition tactic

Putting the king in front of your pawn to force the opponent king back and clear the way for your pawn once it picks a side when it hits the back rank.
@DM_Curtis

Remember that one can have opposition at a distance, and that the side with a pawn can move the pawn to gain a tempo to gain opposition.
That was awesome
great video

11:33 couldnt the bishop just take b4?
Thanks
1.Knight is an excellent king defender 2. King color opposition 🤨 no wonder i've been losing a few endgames

Lol exactly what I was thinking
I enjoyed your commentary & analysis ♟️
16:10 Sir I think the reason why GM Ian gave up that pawn was because if knight moves to c2(threating to take the pawn at a3)and since there's 3 attackers (2 rooks and 1 knight) and there's only 3 defender which are queen and bishop. Maybe GM Ian saw that and trade that pawn for pawn at h3 Correct me if I'm wrong. Btw,I like your videos,it was really helpful.And your explanation is very easy to understand unlike other KZreadr.
Thanks!

I cant be the only one who saw the fork at 24:29
At 11:58, why couldnt black push the e pawn, attacking the pinned knight?
20:11 The 3 Move Repetition rule would be precluded by the Fifty-Move Limit Rule*; so, it is not possible for there to be fifty moves between the position reached even twice, let alone three times! Right? *[The fifty-move rule in chess states that a player can claim a draw if no capture has been made and no pawn has been moved in the last fifty moves.]
@tomatoisnotafruit5670
2 жыл бұрын
It's possible to have 50 moves without repeating the position 3 times, Magnus got to almost 40 moves before he finally was able to push his pawn.
@amzwl1671

@@tomatoisnotafruit5670 He’s not saying that, he’s talking about the 50 turns rule. If 50 turns are played in a game of chess and the number of pieces on the board remains the same, the game is a draw.
@navydave5238
2 жыл бұрын
@@amzwl1671 That's not entirely correct, the 50 turns will also reset if someone moves a pawn.
@Quantris

In practice you're right but technically it is possible for three-move repetition to happen even with 50+ moves in-between because 50-move rule still only gives the players the right to claim a draw, they technically do not have to claim it. Normally one of the players will want to do so of course. There probably are weird tournament situations where neither player wants a draw and so would both decline (i.e. they each need a win to move on and so their best option is to hope their opponent blunders first). The same caveat does apply to the threefold repetition rule: the players can elect to play on if they want to. Interestingly there is also a fivefold repetition rule in FIDE rules that *does not* give the players the option: the game must end in a draw if the same position occurs five times. There's also a similarly non-optional 75 move rule.
Nelson- “IT’S NOT THAT SIMPLE Me- “YOU DON’T SAY!” Btw Nelson if you are reading it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on moves that you would of easily overlooked but in retrospect you understand and why they are so difficult for the average player. Eg deep positional understanding deeper calculation etc
This is soooo savage
Hey Nelson, where did you go? Is everything alright? I haven't seen you posting lately and it's kinda throwing me off. Hope everything is well!

Bishop is pinning the pawn to the king. I asked the same question, took a look at the board and though "oh wow, that's pretty smart, this is why these guys are GM. Never woulda thought of that" lol

On 24:30 magnus could have one the game by forking the queen and king instead of pushing his pawn it’s weird to me how he did not see that same with this guy he didn’t even bring it up

@@catstrugglesatul6739 yes I see that now sorry I was focusing on the other pieces
Nepo made too many mistakes... exchanging both his rooks for the queen... and missing a couple opportunities to win a key pawn that would likely give him the lead, but instead, carlsen won the game and nepo never recovered. There was a game in the 2018 WCC where Fabi missed Nc4, which would give him a huge advantage and the win, but played g3 instead, and ended in a draw. I literally shook my head when nepo failed to take the b4 pawn, allowing carlsen to connect his rooks on the second rank.
I'm bad at chess and I have no idea what's going on
The guy kept saying minutes which confused tf outta me
Ian could have played until he got checkmated.. It would have been the longest game for another century lol

Honestly, it’s a huge turn off when the first sentence you say is “the boring draws have come to an end.” None of those games were boring and you saying so immediately tells me I’m about to watch a chess analysis video from someone that doesn’t even appreciate the high level chess for the chess itself. I’m sure you aren’t really that way and were trying to cater to your audience but it was worth saying.
Wow...they finally scripted a win huh, smh. Scripted bread for the circus freaks...just like every other sport people.
