THEY ARE SO GOOD! Ex Metal Elitist Reacts to Blackbriar "I'd Rather Burn"

Музыка

• Blackbriar - I'd Rathe...
At one point of my musical journey, I would of been considered an Elitist. I just liked what I liked. But as I've gotten older I've realized there's alot of great music out there, and I want to find it! Thank You for bearing with me on the beginning stages of this channel. Feel free to request any song.

My small country must be proud of this magnificent band! Try also haunting their songs 'Weakness and Lust' and 'Deadly Diminuendo'

I've always been blown away by Blackbriar's music and Zora's voice. Having been to Salem Ma. and Bamberg, Germany...where some of these Middle-Age atrocities occurred...this song even resonates more...

You can commit the worst crimes in broad daylight, right out in the open, if society doesn't consider them crimes. This is an older song and I think they've grown since, but as you can see they were already powerful back then! Glad you continue to enjoy the journey

There are so many great songs from blackbriar, arms of the ocean, beautiful delirium, until eternity, weakness and list, they’re just so great

This song was my first exposure to Blackbriar around a year or so ago. Since "cicada" and other songs have made me fall in love with the group

Great reaction! One of my top 5 Blackbriar songs. Love the heaviness and the lyrics! Zora as a witch going to the stake rather then be something she is not while promising to return "dead awake" to get her revenge. Promising that when you hear this music she will be with you soon and haunt you. But the best lines are "I'll show you I am capable of causing such pain With my delicate and fragile lady brain I will not let you get away So much power and promise of retribution on those who accused and killed her. As another reactor said the way Zora looks at the camera at the end he wouldn't burn her at the stake because something really nasty and dark is going to befall those who do. Arms of the Ocean from the same EP should be next! More dark and powerful female characters.

@@TheWolffAndTheMelody I second the "Arms Of The Ocean" recommendation as your next one. Also one to include in your journey: "Until Eternity" (the number of views is fully deserved by the stunning music video alone!). Enjoy! I'm still recovering from Ayreon's magisterial concert this weekend (we got to experience the show on Saturday). Can confidently say that it topped Nightwish at the Ziggo Dome last year as a total performance. Anyhew, Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

This song is so powerful in its symbolism, for me the references are back to the Witch hunt in Europe and the UK, many women were put to death rather than give up what they knew or other people within the craft, what the witches knew about healing was passed on, so their voices never died, this encapsulates the whole concept of eternity is as long as somebody remembers you or what you did in life, it is why the old beliefs of Northern Europe never truly died out. Big love Brother

Blackbriar is such an amazing band! Discovered them last year in August when they were the support act for Epica. They quickly became one of my favorite bands!! I saw them live twice now and I will see them again next week together with Ad Infinitum. Songs you really need to check out: - Lilith be Gone - Fairy of the Bog - Until Eternity - Arms of the Ocean - The Séance Their new singles from their new album (coming on September 29th) are amazing too and worth checking out! (I saw you already reacted to Cicada): - My Soul's Demise - Crimson Faces - Forever and a Day

That was very good. I love Zora's voice and her way of drawing you into the story, whether you want to be drawn or not. I would have liked a little more development in the song, but that is the only, very minor, complaint that I would have.

Zora has such a look about her, the last video esp but this one too. I bit of the creeps watching it but actually good kinds if you know what I mean. Way too short tho, just getting into it and its over. IDK if she always has that look and feel to her, but I dig it.. sorta, and also spooked at bit lol. Musically solid, her voice haunting as usual. I don't quite know what to think of them, but I have enjoyed all the videos from them so far, all for different reasons. TY Cosmic for your reaction ♥and everybody!

During the Spanish inquisition 32.000 people were sentenced to death for heresy, often burned at the stake. Since the majority of the Netherlands is protestant the Spanish/Roman church really upped their stats up here. Many were tortured into repenting first. "I'd rather burn at the stake" would fit that scenario, but of course I could be wrong.

The vibe I get is that of a metal, feminist, retributory 'Every Breath You Take'/'Animals'/'Invisible'/'Obsession'/'One Way Or Another'. Vicious, vindictive, and *UTTERLY* creepy. :shudder:
