    That 13-12 rally was OBSCENE. Just an unbelievable level of determination from both young men.

    In comparison to other top squash players like paul and ali and shorbagys i think diego gets tired a little bit sooner than the others . If he get phisically stronger then we will witness another #1 in the world

    When the ref said after his reveiw was shot down that "It doesn't matter how tight the shot is" ?? that is a very limited application of the proper rules, Elias had 2 winners from that same shot on the same side in that game That would have been frustrating!

    I think the ref was just trying to shut down Elias's attempts at arguing. It certainly does matter how good the shot is, as I have seen virtually every ref (including this one) deny a stroke when the shot was a total winner (even if they blocked the other player). In this case, it was tight but getable (imo).

    Elias' gamesmanship here bordered in cheating. Squash is meant to be continuous play as far is as practical and he did everything he could to delay the game. I would have been happy to see John Mazzarella award a stroke against him in line with rule 7.6 (7.6 The Referee, on deciding that a player has delayed play unreasonably, shall apply Rule 17.).

    I find it insane that in a professional sport, the athletes have to do maintenance on the court (mopping). Could you imagine top-level tennis without ball-boys, or ice hockey players driving a zamboni to clean the ice? Insane.

    sure looked like Farag charged into Elias' back repeatedly near the end of game 1, and he was rewarded with a stroke repeatedly. Not great refereeing, in my opinion. There was a clear path to the ball, and he chose to charge into his opponent's back instead.

    What's racist about clapping for a national player?

  • @ShellysAshes

    @ShellysAshes

    3 жыл бұрын

    I don't think you can say it's racist. It's just the Egyptian crowds are more like football crowds than your average squash crowd. They can be very stingy in appreciating the non-home player, whereas in other countries, if one player is a home player and the other from a different country, they'll clearly be supporting the home player but will clap respectfully for the away player too. Egyptian crowds can sometimes not clap at all when the away player deserves it.
