I love your presentation style and the comfort you have in making things that fit into the Star Wars universe but aren’t 100% screen accurate. That’s how it should be; using your favourite thing as a starting block to further explore it yourself. The true magic of fandom and another wonderful piece.

Thank you so much. Our thoughts exactly!
That’s just beautiful. The perfect finish, greeblies, strap. Totally gorgeous in universe project.
A guy who channels the stress life brings into building something that brings life! Bro thank you for being you. As usual, you and Reese did a great job this week.

Thank you my friend, so much!!
I love boxes! Especially wooden ones! I could see many uses for a box like this. Every detail was spot on. I was half expecting a very “puzzle-like” locking mechanism for the latch. But the magnetic one works. This is a project I will soon tackle, because I have loads of pallet lumber at my disposal, so I can really go rustic!
That is beautiful! Love the mix of old wood and leather with the weathered greeblies.

LOL!!!! Thank you!
Yeah there is just something about old boxes that does it for me also. My father gave me a old whiskey piratey looking chest with two small bottles and about 6 shot glasses...its truly my treasure... Just like you mentioned I loved the old with the new. Great episode! Thanks!
that was awesome. gotta say the afterthought of the loot was cool too
As a matter of fact Phillips head screws ARE Star Wars. If you look super closely towards the top or reys staff you can see Phillips screws holding it together

Yup' philips are canon.
It's got a Steam Punk kinda look, yet it would still fit into the StarWars Universe. Love it!

Outstanding beautifully done and i love the mix of vintage look with greeblies truly well balanced piece of art. Also live the art work towards the very end with the shapes. Basically its LIGHTSPEED!
Very cool as always! Love the use of an old wooden block. Looks classy and has character.
What an amazing work with wood and metal, Brian!
It came out amazing plus you can add more to the inside and add LEDs when you’re ready. Even though they are Phillips screws and honestly who cares (unless you’re a seriously hardcore fan) because I’m sure we can all agree that it’s hard to find the right piece and part.
Just a friend my reminder... I STILL love this build!! :-)
Nicely done. I especially like the magnet closure.
Once again, an incredible build, and something that I could easily see being for sale at Galaxy’s Edge! Awesome!!

Totally out of this world project 👏👏
Fun build. It would cool to add a spot for a blaster under the panel holding the cards.
Gorgeous! Well done! I love the look of wood and metal.

Another great build. The box reminded me a little bit of the one that has Luke’s light Sabre in it at Maz Kanata’s.
They came out beautiful. Think I may have a new project to try out now.
I am always so blown away on this channel.
Absolutely love this one!! Dark wood with dirty aluminum is an amazing look. Also the rub n buff over a stencil.. GENIUS. So simple but so effective!

GORGEOUS!! Ahhhh I FEEL this project!! I’ve been wanting to make a Smugglers style box, with a hidden compartment for maybe a DL blaster of one of our favorite adult beverages ;-) That leather strap ... so perfect!

Now I'll be hitting the secondhand shops and dumpster diving looking for old wooden boxes!
Looks great! A wonderful melding of materials. I did think however you were going to make the bottom for scotch storage.
I really like how that turned out! All ya need is a few extra aces to cheat your way through the game like a real smuggler

you're totally right! Thanks for watching!
As long s you don't use torx or other modern head screws, most of classic screws are StarWars. Since they mostly used military surplus ranging from WWII to Viet-nam most on-screen screws had to be flat, cross or hex headed. Love the original box and the outcome.
Fantastic! Man, I’ve got a few of those crates and things that could use a makeover. Great job.
Such a great build! It would be awesome if you built a Light Saber or Blaster Box out of the same type of material
nice project. here's a thought, why not fill those Philips head screws with filler and sand them off with a nice rounded finish, would look like a rivet then
I’m just waiting for Brian to switch the intro to where it’s “what’s up you chubby geeks, I’m Brian and welcome to the Smuggler’s Room. This week, this awesome geek...” Great build as always!

I have to say the voice over is amazing
Okay, you got me @3:40...I thought "he needs to distress that box!?" Took me a sec to realize you're going to refinish it. I'm surprised that you don't have a bunch of security screws in your parts pile. Some of them look super-spacey. I was also surprised with the choice of stencil. I really thought you'd lean towards the Jedi Text look. Because, well, books and wooden boxes are about as analog as you can get.
@TheSmugglersRoom
3 жыл бұрын
LOL, I have used up almost all of the security screws and other odd ones I have saved. I didn't want to go out and buy more, got a little lazy :) I chose not to go with Jedi Text since this was more of a "Smugglers Gambling" box you know? Seemed a bit more appropriate. Thanks for watching!
Your projects are always so damn awesome. Thank you.
You cannot fake aged wood. Boxes like that are a Maker's wet dream. Nice job.

Do you know if this awesome cards and the " sabac game " are sold in Europa ? I am a true collector of " special releases " games , Monopoly, cards, dices, etc and I never see this beauties before ... Too sad ! Keep yourself and all your family healthy ! Be carefull ! Good luck from France !

Cool build. I would have either saved that box for the microscope or taken down some measurements to recreate it. I'm still stuck in the middle of building my own Gerstner style 11 drawer machinist's tool chest from some hardwood flooring I salvaged. But what I really want are those card decks!! Never heard of them until this video.
@TheSmugglersRoom
3 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea! The microscope is not going in a box, so this seemed a great way to repurpose it.
Pretty sure there are some screen-used graflex sabers out there with phillips-head screws in them. Forget the trolls and screw away.

Great "1-day" build idea (depending on how much prep and repair work you're doing on the box), and love the look you achieved with it. How was the stencil created? Looks like you used the laser, but wasn't sure.

You know.......With a different insert, that would make the perfect McGuffin for a _"Hidden Jedi"_ type of script: a lightsaber, a holocron, some faux Kyber Crystals, a holo-comm unit.....This works as a beauty prop on a number of levels....
