    People don't realize that you can actually have fun building stuff! I have seen some pretty funky toilet paper holders, cat trees etc that reflect the passion of the owner! My wife and I both "retain" things :) that we think we can have some fun incorporating into our builds. I encourage "creators" "builder" whatever to go and check out Mike Patey's page as he is in the process of building an aircraft. What has that got to do with creating? Well, he definitely thinks outside the box, designs and builds most of it himself, from welding to making the molds and then building carbon fiber parts. He is a huge encouragement for those of us who trouble getting off their rear ends and doing something because what he is able to build in a few hours after his day job is incredible and will humble the tar out of most.

    It seems like a lot of effort to go to, and then not dress up the blue part of the water bowl. It must be nice having little dogs sometimes - mine drinks almost that waterbottle full a day - her water dish is a 20liter bucket. It seems a little tall to be inside, yet too fragile to be outside. It is a great looking build - I am just calling it out on the ridiculous factor. I guess that I could weld one up similar and run a pump to it and probably put a bird feeder in the top of it somewhere. I really need to build some more Star Wars things.

  • @TheSmugglersRoom

    @TheSmugglersRoom

    The blue portion of the water bowl is difficult to paint due to the composite of the material it is made from. Also, it gets wet which additionally would cause problems with the paint. As far as size, it fits really well in their home with high ceilings, so it works. We wanted it to be as accurate as possible hence the size. All in all, the effort is to hopefully show builders techniques and tips for thier projects. Its mostly about the journey . . .

    One thing I’ve been crazy for lately is DIY lightsabers. I’d love to see your attempt at it! Have you ever looked into smaller scale model making? It’s soemthing I find really cool and I think you could put a fun spin on it Love the work, keep it up

    If you really want to learn about DIY lightsabers, check out The Custom Saber Shop. I've built seven totally unique sabers with sound from reading their forums and watching their videos. If you search my name in their forums you'll see every one of my custom sabers.

    Thank you! We actually purchased an aluminum pipe stock and a new metal blade for the band saw. In the coming weeks we are 100% going to do a totally custom saber, because i am just chomping at the bit to make one. That said, @QuixoticJedi is correct, the Custom Saber Shop is very very cool! As far as scale model work, we also have plans for our large display cabinet, and it will be a series of scale model building to get it where I want it. We hope to start that section of the room in the coming months.

    You have to lift the vaporator off to do so. Not the most convenient, but it’s not heavy. We need to design a refill tube.
