Does anybody know what facts she supposedly reported and since she is just a witness not a defendant who is suing who for what? Why did she leave Fox and the other network she worked for. I like to consider all the facts before i want to have somebody put in prison for the rest of their lives. To be honest if CBS fired her for giving out information they did not want out this would accomplish the exact opposite, now more people will know or want to know than ever before.

If we lose the few true journalists who are left, we will have an America in deeper trouble than we thought imaginable.

She probably missed something in her contract's fine print with CBS. In many other high paying jobs, when you get terminated, they have someone watch you pack up your personal things and escort you out the door and the building, to your car, take your keys to the building and any locked files you had, and your pass badge. You are locked out of all emails and remote computer login, as well. Basically, your working records and contacts become theirs as you were hired to do work on their behalf. She is highly esteemed in the industry. She will find another position if she has not already. Her secret contacts will find her if they want to continue to do business with her. Much success to her.

When I took journalism classe in college, we were taught to report the facts, get both sides of the story, and report it down the middle. Sadly, when I was a communications director for a U.S. Senate Committee, I met a brand new journalist, fresh out of college. She told me that she got involved in journalism to "change the world." She viewed her role as an advocate for a side -- rather than an advocate for the truth. That's far different from my training in the 1980s.

Getting “both sides of the story” is what gives us false equivalency when one side is completely delusional, but given equal space and time. I could claim the universe was created in just under an hour, about 4000 years ago. Would you report that?

@@SeekerGoOn2013 Getting and telling both sides -- or more sides -- of the story was the standard of journalism back in the day -- tell the story and let people understand all the arguments. A reporter back then would write something like, "SeekGoOn2013, an advocate for creation theory believed by some Christian sects, says that the universe was "created in just an under an hour about 4000 years ago." But not all Christan sects agree. Yale professor Jon J. Suchnsuch says that the problem begins with how time was calculated anciently. "In the Old Testment, the Bible says that the earth was completely created in six days. But in the New Testament, it says that to God, a day is like a thousand years. But that doesn't mean a Biblical day is a 1000 years long, it is more likely a long indetermenant period of time." Professor John Doe at the University of California, Berkley, say that scientist have another take, "People have been looking at their surroundings for perhaps hundreds of thousands of years, maybe longer, trying to figure out how it all began. The scientific data indicate that it began with a big bang 13.8 billion years ago." --------------- See how that works.... all sides of the story are told, no disparaging remarks, no editorializing... just facts.

Who exactly will decide what "Truth" is then, especially in this day of post-modernism and relativism? When a political party comes into power and UNCONSTITUTIONALLY forces it's own ideology on the entire country- even against Supreme Court Judgements, who then? Do Journalists only give the people their own opinion- which they believe to be THEIR "truth" and subjective, or do they show evidence and state facts with documentation which would be Objectively TRUE? We'd hope the latter, which good Journalists like these ladies testifying would do. Unfortunately, we have far too many Opinion writers and talking heads masquerading as REAL Journalists now- in print, digital, and on mainstream and social media platforms, and they are quite influential with people who are only capable of operating on an emotional level and not reality. We have to support absolute Free speech for everyone, so we can hear everything said about a topic- whether objectively true or false.

The Ministry of Truth isn't necessary nor should it be wanted. People in this country should have the right to decide for themselves what is truth and what isn't. Ms Herridge has always been one of my favorite news reporters.... She gives a no BULLSHIT FACTUALLY ACCOUNT IF THE FACTS!!! We need hundreds more Ms. Herridges in our news rooms. I'm actually glad to see reporters like Ms Herridge going independent and reporting the news without having BIG BROTHER looking over their shoulders and editing their stories. Go big Catherine!!!

Poor Catherine. She looks worn down a bit by this experience.. Dad, because I always thought she was a true pro. Truly respected her work. I’m sorry this happened to her. I’m sorry this happened to all of them.

There needs to be a follow up showing what action was taken after these hearings!!!

Wow. Even though I did not always agree with the conclusions of Catherine Herridge's reporting, she did not need to have been treated by CBS in this manner.
