    The fact that that Hannah clearly expressed her discomfort, she turned him down, and just generally said no to him several times yet the producers and Luke of course continued to put her in situations that made her uncomfortable and stressed makes me sick. It says a lot about what consent means to men like this.

    Luke saying “No guy would want her after that last thing she told me” (which was that she slept with someone) while actively coming back for her is SUCH a big red flag for an abuser. Making their victim feel like they’re doing them a service being with them, that they’re not worthy of love or a relationship and they’re so lucky to be with their abuser so they’ll stay. That was triggering tbh. Literally wtf.

    unless the video was edited strangely, I think he made it much more about himself? He said that "Hannah thought [HE] wouldn't want to be with her anymore... after what she told me last night". he's a total asshole with concerning thoughts on women, but those exist even in more subtle language

  • @way2dead4u

    @way2dead4u

    I think you misheard the quote a bit, since his delusions were that "Hannah said no to me but actually she's just misguided and needs to know I still want her" but you are completely right about his attitude and abusive behaviors! 11:14 if you need to double check

    Honestly from what I’ve seen of Hannah she seems like such a beautiful soul, just looking out for the people around her while also setting her own PERFECTLY REASONABLE boundaries- yet as Jarvis said she’s subjected to such awful people. That’s the one thing I’ll always have against the Bachelor and Bachelorette, is that a lot of their stars with good hearts are given traumatic situations just to make the show more money.

    Christina dissociation is a coping mechanism for trauma. It's basically you're body trying to distract itself by ANY means necessary. It can be as simple as just shutting down (can't really move walk or speak) but can also lead to forms of delusion whilst it's happening (ie thinking you're younger, thinking you're a different person etc) On Hannah's instagram story she said that when it all got to be way too much she would look at the nearest wall and shut everything else out of her mind, which looks/sounds like dissociation.

    My friend Matteo (we met at Georgia Tech btw, go Jackets!) was actually a contestant on Hannah's season of the bachelorette. He didn't last very long and barely got any screen time, his most memorable moments consist of when he ate bugs in a post-credits scene and him saying something nice in the "Men Tell All" episode (I think. I lost interest halfway through the season and stopped watching tbh). Anyways, he had some really interesting things to say about the whole production, it was cool hearing a little bit about what goes on behind the scenes from him. Apparently he wasn't allowed to talk about a lot of it though. And I got to meet ABCam because of him lol 😆 Great vid Jarvis, love hearing your take on stuff like this!!

    Idk I’m torn on that, it’s definitely blatantly obvious that whoever was in charge loved it but how much of that could be acting. Is he really that good of an actor and improviser, cuz it’s not like he even had scripts or the possibility to reshoot often. So I’m not sure but reality is probably somewhere in the middle

  • @TheNormExperience

    ...to what end though? What reward does one get for acting like such a complete abusive ahole on national television? If people know your name walking away it’s only because they hated you enough to learn it. If you let people know they’re going to watch and assume this is what you’re actually like. So I don’t see it helping in real life. If he were an aspiring actor, not a dude doing ‘Bible study’ I would agree...or if it had actually worked on the bachelorette I could see that making sense, but this situation feels more like they needed a charismatic villain and he just heard charismatic and thought that meant he‘d obviously be the main character and showed a little too much of himself while production spurred him on. I guess what I mean is, yeah, I’m sure production chose all his absolute worst moments to show, but he did still say and do all those things so...it’s hard to not think he should also be held accountable.
