Спорт

What happens if you mix the worlds fastest lightweight and heavyweight mens doubles together in a bunch of races? The unexpected. You will discover that it is not easier nor slower to be in a light weight double. Ultimately, the crew with the best trunk weight use wins.

Thanks for this excellent analysis, Aram! My 1x coach always says that strong "swing back", as we call it in Australia, is critical to sending the boat away. When it works, you can really feel it in the 1x. The lats have a huge role here.

I dont believe the lightweights are making weight for the open events at Henley. At least we never did. Its likely that they are all closer to 74kg than 70kg for these races.

You are right, certainly not at Henley. In the video it sounded like I meant to say that, which I did not. Nevertheless, most of them are underweight, imho.

Yeah not sure that matters a whole lot here. The whole point is that size as a general metric is significantly less important than most assume. Being at optimal weight and maximizing efficiency are what matters is the takeaway I see

Would also say as a recruiting tactic putting on weight at the cost of efficiency seems effective yet unhealthy. Hard to establish recognition of efficiency but quite easy to establish recognition of power via an impressive erg result
