This so reminds me of one of my favorite scripture John 4:8 "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." So frequently we are explained what God is and what His motivation is and so frequently people feel like God is just chastising them or people may use scripture to attack people and try to twist it to say God hates them. This is one of the worst lies ever told and The Scriptures are very clear that God loves us.

Start with pleading prayer. It's never too late. Knock, seek, ask. The Savior's grace will assist you. When you are tempted, Immediately cast station out in the name of Jesus Christ. Just hit me pretty hard that line, "that the world through Him might be saved", what a hopeful message in such times. The idea that the world can still be saved, that God hasn't given up on us yet, that He still offers the possibility that mankind's hearts and natures can be changed, that we will choose to love each other more, to be kind, to put away evil, and give of our abundance to the poor, to bear each other's burdens and put off selfishness and pride and act like our example, the Prince of Peace and become Children of God.

I have been really struggling to feel like I can still repent. I have tried so many times but always fall back into my addictions. I don't believe I can change anymore. And I struggle to have any hope.

@IMAFEEISH My experience is that I can’t change my unhealthy patterns either. And I used to beat myself up over it daily & even gave up on wanting to live … what purpose was I fulfilling? Then i started praying to understand the atonement on a more personal level. I stopped focusing on what I was failing at every day and started focusing on Him and having a personal intimate relationship w Him - even as I was falling short daily. I stopped beating myself up over it. I started to see Him as my partner in creating my life … I made minor changes that I could manage, & told myself He loves me & wants to give me His strength, b/c He understands that I can’t change on my own. And then I began seeing changes, a little here & a little there. He was changing me. Do I still fall short? Yes. Am I doing better than I was a few months ago? Yes. I have hope for the 1st time in years. He put podcasts on my feed that helped me see differently - like that being righteous doesn’t mean perfect & w out sin or living up to external standards. It means being in a right relationship w Him. He knows the desires of our hearts even when our natural man is weak. He doesn’t come condemning us, but loving us. He wants to comfort & support us thru what we’re going thru. He sees the divine in you even when you can’t. Pray for understanding of how it’s done & to feel His love for you even in your weakness … pray to better understand the atonement in a more personal way…and don’t give up. You are loved and you aren’t alone.
