Your Story is More Important Than You Think

In a world that often celebrates the extraordinary, watch as five individuals who've led seemingly ordinary lives through their own eyes, are reminded of the indelible mark they’ve left on the hearts of their loved ones.

We filmed their family members answering the question, “What makes your parent/grandparent extraordinary. The responses we received were nothing short of breathtaking- personal memories, touching anecdotes, and deep reflections shared together. Through the lens of personal stories, we recognize the transformative power of personal memories and experiences, and remember the importance of cherishing and celebrating the unsung heroes in our lives. Everyone's story is worth remembering.

I have written 8 family histories and genealogies, and each has been so rewarding. I combine caregiving jobs with writing for families. The last person I wrote for had dementia and would ask me what I was doing. I would say, I’m writing a book about you! He’d grumble, “You’re wasting your time.” His daughter and I printed his book last month, a year since he passed away. It is such a beautiful thing to hold a life story in your hands, to see how God was in their life and how things worked out over decades in a way that only God can do. This video is so touching, and I hope more people will record their family history to preserve the values that we are losing in society.

I can't remember the exact quote, but I remember hearing something along the lines of how one person may not be the world, but for one person, you mean the world to them. I think family is a perfect example of this for many of us, and for others, maybe that one person who stood by their side no matter what. Thank you for the reminder of how every day people make such a big difference in the world. ❤

I can choose to feel sorrow and resentment toward those who I have felt emotionally abandoned and neglected by, or I can choose to feel grateful for the memories I have, and the family I have who will never abandon or neglect me. My Heavenly family means more to me than any other family I may have, because I know I can trust them to never harm me or irreparably damage my capacity for feeling love, trust, faith, peace. I know I have a loving Father and Mother, and siblings who truly love me. I am given courage, strength, confidence, support, and protection by God, and I am so very grateful for His Divine love for me. Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories and thoughts on the wonderful experiences you've been blessed with. I know DNA isn't as important as the love and devotion God has for me... I find so much comfort knowing His love is perfect. Where others may have failed to provide me with the love, support, and guidance I needed, He will never fail! I know God lives, and loves me too. Everything else that is good in my life is an added bonus. ❤

To those who read this comment remember this. No matter who you think you are or where are you come from or if you’re old, young, rich, or poor. Know that you are loved in this world. No, that you are remembered and people will notice you are gone and they will miss you dearly. You will never be forgotten. be a light in the world full of darkness be a sun to brighten peoples days and be a moon to shine in someone’s Darkest Hour have a great day 😁

I think this beautiful video goes to illustrate one of the paradoxes of the gospel. If one wants to live a life that will be important and remembered, it is not about doing big important things. It is about the way we make others important and remember them. “He who finds his life shall lose it, but he who loses his life, for my sake, shall find it.” Our stories are important because they help create others stories too. Let us write them together, with The Author & Finisher of our faith and our stories. 😊❤

I just want to speak from my heart and say that no matter who you are, wherever you are, whatever you've done in your life, you have a story that is important. Everyone has been sent to earth for a reason. You may not know what that reason is yet, but you can do amazing things and you can help others. You can be supportive and be an example for others. Sometimes we face challenges in our lives, but that's why we're here; to live and learn, but also to teach others. We can be examples and show others how important they are and help them through their trials. You may have already had an impact on someone's life, and you didn't know! I hope that whoever is reading this understands that they are loved and that they are very important to God and his plan!

I am a proud father and husband and look forward to having grandkids I can teach the gospel and also learn from them. If God so wills for me to live to that age.

As I view this deeply moving story, I am struck with the power of the individual. I see that each moment of our life we are contributing to the energy and power of humanity - for good or for bad. Even a seemingly obscure or inconsequential individual has great capacity to influence others - for good or bad - with each act of love, instruction, service - or unkindness, abuse, evil. With perhaps our greatest power - our agency - we make moment by moment deposits into the souls of humanity, and in turn build our legacy and contribute to the legacies of others. Even in our quiet alone moments, we are building who we are and what we will become, and as such contribute to the good or bad of humanity. Perhaps this is why a loving god commanded us first and foremost to love Him with all our heart, might, mind and strength, and then right after that, to do the same for our fellow man. Truly if we do that to its fullness, do we really need to focus on anything else?

Today is my daughter's wedding reception. I am not invited. I chose to extract myself from a toxic relationship because I realized I was giving my children a bad example of what it was to be married and what to tolerate, how you should expect to act and how you should expect to be treated. The children chose the alienating parent over me She came to my mothers house to "share some news with her" (news of her engagement) but to not share it with me. My mother told her then you better not share it. But they abandoned us. They stayed longer than anyone else would have, and if you act following this poor example of my ex, then don't expect to be married long. This last bit of advice struck her dumb and she didn't know how to respond to that.

Have you done any good in this world yet? Will anyone miss you when you're gone? How big is your footprint going to be when you leave this world? When you leave this world, you will see your whole life flashed before you,and that's guaranteed the good the bad the ugly. Repentance is a glorious thing for you and others. If only we could love one another as god has always loved us. This would be a pleasant world to live in.
