I have always loved barbershop, but this, this is so above and beyond that all I can say is that I'm awestruck.

This performance was my first international convention. And my first win with the vocal majority. I shared that stage in Vegas with more Gold medalist quarteters than i realized at the time. God what a truly blessed hobby that i stumbled into in High School 💜

What an arrangement!!!!! One never knew if one were in a major or minor mode! This was writing at its best. It's great to see Jim back at the helm!

Wow, I mean really you guys, couldn't you save some of the points for the other choruses? Almost perfect in presentation? The unison was perfect, I know what you guys sacrificed for this. 158 men with voices coming together as a brotherhood of harmony and love. Staggering. I was in Las Vegas and witnessed the event, talked with some of your members , and what I received was pure class and pure love! Job well done and Medal well deserved! Congratulations!

Someone could do a documentary about Barbershop Choruses, and especially this one. I was in Texas for ten years, and sang with "The Men of Note," just north of Dallas. It takes a lot of time to be competitive, and one does not sing with the idea that it is an enjoyable evening out with the boys. It takes more time than you would think, and we had one wife tell her husband it was barbershop or her, and he quit. We had another who divorced his wife and went on to that year's national award as the best barbershop quartet. Lots of stories. I had a job and could not commute to Dallas for the VM, but heard of a man who commuted from England, each week, to sing with them. I do not know if that is true, but, it was believed, so there are a few stories to be documented. The VM wins every year that they can compete, meaning that if they win then they cannot compete, the next year - giving them time to hone their craft. My wife would say that there is not much to do in Dallas other than restaurants, and movies and so weekends find them all full. Maybe barbershop is an alternative. Well, this is too long.

Graham Smith is his name...he finally gave up and just moved to Dallas. We had another man who drove in weekly from Lafayette, La. and currently have several who come from hours away each Thursday night and more often when necessary, including a full concert schedule.

A great chorus...it's much too busy for me, but I admire their terpsichorean efforts. It certainly keeps them in shape.

It is patriotic but it doesn't actually reference the USA or any specific nation. In their acceptance set (the performance they did right after they won), they changed the ending up to reference the USA, but now it doesn't matter because it's not being judged. If you ever have the fortune to go to one of their concerts, they will also wave a USA flag at the end there as well.

@@shanefrantz818 Yeah, looking back at this now, it's certainly not as bad as I perceived it to be 4 years ago. The image burned into my retinas is the acceptance performance when they the flag all over the stage. It's probably me being so Britishly cautious about patriotism. I have seen them do this live! Well, half of them, when they came to BABS in 2015, they got a Major in the British Army (who sang in the chorus I do at the time) to run on stage waving the British flag. It was bloody good.

It was Erin Howden who choreographs all over the world for barbershop harmony and Sweet Adelines. She is from Toronto Pntario, Canada and is the director/choreographer for the international winning Sweet Adeline chorus North Metro. She is one awesome lady. As a fellow Canadian, we're pretty proud of her. 🎼

spitfireale60 the writing is tremendous! Sounds as if David Wright could have arranged this piece by the manner in which progressions are presented in a most unconventional manner. In addition, your arrogance is most indicative of this ensemble. Dont commit insults toward those who have been lauded degrees of acadamia.
