It is completely useless, don't be trapped. Our mice will gather dust and fiber making them into a kind of a wool ball and using it as a carpet to insulate themselves. After that the baits would be stolen and gone.
The pest control company I work for has already implemented the use of IR monitors, electric kill boxes (xl), snap traps with an IR monitor, etc. Fascinating the direction pest control is headed towards.

What a beautiful, large, well-fed Red-Tail Hawk.
Beautiful hawk footage! Very nice! My favorite electrical trap is your Thunder Dome video. It would work with mice or rats. It has a solid platform which doesn't cause the rats to get nervous. The shock doesn't kill them. It just causes them to fall off the platform. No mechanical movement mechanism to break, jam, or malfunction.
This would probably be good for an old folks home or maybe a restaurant. Or somewhere the bucket traps would be unsightly.

@@learnjcbskidsterchickensga7594 Same here, I'm not a fan of bucket traps filled with water. Rats and mice are mammals just like us, and have similar nervous systems. If you've ever accidentally breathed in water while drinking at a fountain or while taking a shower, you'll know that inhaling even a little bit of water is very painful. That's why quick kill traps are the best, such as snap traps, or an electrical trap like this one.

I’ve never seen an animal so suspicious of found food. That hawk does *not* trust what goes on in your house.
For $90 the trap should play a MIDI file excerpt of Chopin’s Funeral March every time the kill cycle activates.😉
7:32 That posture afterwards. 😀 "Are you not entertained?!"
The hawk was thinking the free mice are a bit sus and was looking around to see if it was being punk'd...

For as many mice as you have you might want to cut the bottom out of it and affix it to the lid of a five gallon bucket and snap the lid on the bucket.

As long as I have a bucket, I'd fill the bottom with water, drive a straightened coat-hanger through the lid and bottom of a plastic bottle, lube the holes, and make a roller-trap at the top. Easy-peasy and zero money spent.

I have had this one for a couple years. It is a good one, but expensive and you have to check it often since we only ever had it hold two large mice at once
What amazing footage you get of wildlife. The hawk is so cool to see, thank you.
Apart from homemade mousetraps (like a rolling log bucket trap), what's the best bargain mouse trap? The old wood and copper Victor M156 Metal Pedal Mouse Trap sells four for a few bucks. Amazon sells 16-pack cases (64 Total Traps) for $27. I bought a 4-pack of Victor mouse traps at the grocery store, baited them with peanut butter, set them around in my garage (where I had been having recent trouble with mice getting in the trunks of cars & nibbling paper), and in a few weeks a bunch of mice were killed in the traps and I no longer have mouse problems. Great result for a few dollars!
Enjoyed the video very much Shawn. and liked the feather on the string trick.
Cool tip about using the bird feather in the breeze to get the hawks attention...worker like a charm! 👍
Thanks for the great content, bud. Your symbiotic relationship with raptors is pretty special.

I would customize it. Remove tray. Cover side, make large hole in the bottom below the dump chamber. And then mount to a bucket with a lid. Have a great day

Hey Shawn, in a local antique store, I found two old mouse traps that you might be interested in. How would I go about sending you pictures?
I'd argue that few people keep "C" cells on hand anymore. They're overpriced for the energy they store, fairly uncommon in use, and once dead, they're wasteful landfill-crammers. For the $$$ Victor wants for this trap, there's absolutely no excuse for it not being rechargeable. One or two inexpensive 18650 lithium cells would do the job easily. ☠🐭☠

That design does work, it is just sad that the electronics and materials used, no where near equates to the asking price. $49.99 I reckon would be a much more reasonable asking price. Still leaves plenty of profit.

The single-kill zapper traps tend to run btwn $30-40ish so maybe they figured multi-kill ones could be double that or whatever, but I agree on aiming for the price to drop. For the moment, the dual set is now at $93 on Amz, tho I have yet to get it myself, I may if / when it goes to ~$80 ($40ish each) - a much more appreciated drop from $140!
The Victor Company needs to build a large size model of this device to be installed in all-night convenience stores to eliminate those pesky armed robbers.

Too complicated, too many wasted components. There's that one company in Austria, they make very good polymer for this very kind of situation.
What got me was when Shawn Woods showed the 'Stairs' on the back and I immediately started thinking "If he places it with its back against the wall, he don't give a hoot about those of us who want to see the Vermin climb to their deaths!" yet he showed us his Compassion in the setup! 😆
That feather trick was cool. I guess you couldn't get out to the beaver dam.
If the mouse has a bot fly larva will it be electrocuted as well? Didn’t that one mouse have an inordinately long tail?
The fur on your dog is so shiny 😊
Your dog is so cute! 🥰
That was a super cool trick with the feather. Where did you learn that?
Good work Crawdaddy.
More hawk videos! That was so cool!🎉🦅🦅
I suppose all of the opossums and skunks just left because your dog is at your house. I suppose red-tailed hawks would enjoy those mouse snacks nowadays.
Id like to remind anyone seeing this, if you poision your rats/mice, please dispose of them properly as not to accidentally poision beautiful birds such ar hawks or owls
On the subject of squirrels, although it's not your normal kind of video, you should do a review/commentary on the KZreadr Mark Rober, probably best known for his glitter bombs, and his elaborate squirrel obastalce course. While it's not a trap, it is meant for squirrels, highly entertaining to watch, snd could probably be converted to a trap at any step along the way. On a related note, you should do a colab with Joseph Carter aka the mink man. He catches rats and mice too, but using minks and dogs, and, for a brief while, a monitor lizard.
lol. That hawk is just like, "This is a set up, I just know it"
I used the single kill one. Excellent.
Ive had bad luck with these traps. The shock does not kill all the mice. Some mice seem to get shocked but not lethally. They get dumped into the holding chamber and then eat their way out of the trap. This happened with both units i owned.
That is a good trick to know, the feather on a stick. I'm going to remember that.
KZread has sucked the soul out of this channel. It used to be that we'd get a full demonstration of the traps working with live results, but now it's all cut and censored. Even this video has been posted as a result of KZread ripping down the years-old video you previously had on the channel about this trap.
I remember the days when you didn't know what was eating the mice. Best decision ever to film and find out.
your dog has best timing to appear, when you started to talk about your dog, he came into the frame
pretty humane, looks like there's no showing of death , might even leave these in the house to catch mice as well.
