I still remember the poster, it was of the nine nazgul all lined up on their horses. We had no idea the kind of movie we were in for loool. That was awesome.

As an aspiring fantasy writer, lord of the rings is my greatest inspiration. Hate to see cookie cutter fantasy where they throw fantastical elements into a pot and brew up some rehashed uninspired work, the symbolism and complexity of the story, how everything ties together, the poetic writing and storytelling, how you just know when you read it that there’s so more to the world than the words on the page, it’s brilliant

  • @abyssalproductions0

@Ciph Dawg Agree with you there. They took a great fantasy universe and just made some corporate blockbuster type movie with it, relying so heavily on the lore yet not even staying true to it and using the alternate timeline excuse to simplify and change the story to make it fit into a movie. They couldn't decide between making a movie for the fans or making a movie to possibly bring new people into the universe, so all they ended up doing was pissing off the fans and turning off newcomers to Warcraft with a crappy confusing movie where they obviously payed 10x more attention to the CG than the plot

@Ciph Dawg Yes, I agree. It felt almost like the continued action was a time filler and there is so much skipped over from the book that I feel is important. Ps. I don’t think the books were too lofty. They have important life lessons and the battle between the power of the ring and Frodo’s desire is very relatable and then, in the end, it took greedy Gollum to finish it.
