You don't understand the dynamics that were in play at that time. Do you remember Bishop Abel Muzorewa of Zimbabwe? He also took power at the time of independence but faded into history as Zimbabwe became a republic. What was discussed for Kenya's case was the transitional premiership. Due to political infighting at that time, that seat would have been a poisoned chalice for Odinga.

Jaramogi was leaning more towards the Russians,so the British would not allow that. The Americans wanted to make Mboya the president but Jaramogi was not happy about it and called for the release of Jomo Kenyatta to counter Mboya.All in all that Mzee was an idiot.

Kenya adopted the British system whereby the party winning the highest number of seats after an election becomes the premier. Kenyatta was not made a Prime Minister. KANU of which he was the leader won the highest number of seats in elections. Asking him to form the Govt arose from that.

JM's body was dumped in Ngong forest,his murderers believing that the corpse would be eaten by hyenas. That was not to be because JM's killers had injected the corpse with a certain chemical to hasten decomposition. Instead,the smell of the drug repelled the hyenas and that is how the JM's body remained intact until it was discovered by two maasai herdsmen ( names withheld). RIP,JM.

Its not actually in Ngong Forest, Its a place called Olooishoibor {behind the Ngong hills} in outskirts of Ngong town. Its a thicket on a dusty road over looking the Oleesayet hill. They is even a tomb stone put there in honor of his demise. One of the herdsmen who discovered the body died recently after living for the rest of his life under threats.

JM Kariuki was our very able and generous MP for then Nyandarwa Constituency. I was in Form Two at Nyandarwa High School. I still recall the riots in the country and our attempts to attend his burial at Gilgil, which aborted. May he rest in peace. A national University, Road, Building should be named in his honour apart from the Ol'Kalau Hospital. He was a National Hero.

Nobody wanted to assassinate Ruto! Those were just lies to attract public attention. Planning of assassination of an individual of the level of a DP cannot be be placed in the hands of a multitude of civilian leaders! That team was cobbled together to come up with a strategy for raising Uhuru's popularity in Mt. Kenya region which was waning with Ruto's popularity rising in the same region.
