@@karmabutterfly7985 I think I read somewhere, back when PCD was said to have a comeback, that Melody had a career on Broadway and didn't feel coming back to be a dancer would be a step up. Apparently she said dancing was never her forté and had to work really hard to be good at it. If she didn't jump at the opportunity for an extra pay, I'm sure she's doing just fine 🙂

I've heard things from Melody & especially since Kimberley Wyatt did that interview & aired out bts. I loved the pcd when they came out with their 1st 2 albums but hearing what I've heard, I don't know why they'd want to come back anyway if majority of the stuff was horrible to deal with. Their performances after the x-factor weren't very good either.

still think it’s messed up how melody signed with the group with the promise of being a singer but ended up playing the role of a backup dancer-and she was the ONLY ONE without a professional dance background, hence her visible struggle with choreography in many of the performances (she wasn’t even in the dance break in the Buttons mv 😭). i cant imagine signing up for a gig as a singer, only to go out on stage as a dancer...

Long story short. Melody, Nicole and Carmit (as well as Kaya Jones) were signed as the vocalists of the group. Robin tried to push Melody as the lead singer (and their first performance had Melody as the lead) but the record company pushed Nicole (Nicole had her own team from prior recording contracts who found their way to managing the rest of the girls). I think there was also a time in between that first performance of Big Spender and the Buttons performance from 2004 that Nicole, Melody and Carmit were going to do a bit more sharing (there was a performance of Fever with the three having completely equal vocals). Melody being in the group is proof that Nicole was not originally the lead singer, and there were no intentions.

I’m really tired of companies and industries taking advantage of people and outright abusive. I don’t understand why they think putting co worker against each other is a good thing? Wouldn’t it be better to provide a positive environment and nurture their relationships in a positive way so that they’re bonds are more genuine and not an act??? I’m sure that would also make the singers and dancers less stressful too overall. 😔

Because of that they had no good position in negotiating and equal reunion in 2019. I think this looks really bad on Nicole and Robin's part. The Pussycat Dolls’ music could be described as “stripper pop”. It’s the songs that the group could do the sexy routines. Nicole’s singles were just normal pop (and some of it extremely dated and in some cases just awful). Nicole’s most successful single was (I think) Right There, which is the closest thing to a Pussycat Dolls song. That’s the reason why songs like Don’t Cha, Buttons, Beep were bigger than Hush Hush, I Hate This Part, Stickwitu. It’s funny though because most of Nicole’s pre-2011 solo stuff was recorded at the same sessions as the PCD albums, but then I guess there was a reason she was allowed to put songs like Baby Love on her own and not Wait A Minute

With Destiny's Child for example, for Kelly & Michelle to start getting proper solos in songs, Beyonce at some point had to put her foot down and back her band members up for there to be change. Because let's be honest, that decision was never gonna come from Matthew Knowles. But I feel like with Pussycat Dolls, Nicole may or may not have that power, but she just gives off the vibe that she's content with the way things are and isn't gonna go out of her way to fight for her band mates. From your T-Boz, Nicole, Beyoncé, Camila, Perrie, etc. There's always that one girl that was pushed to the front and given more parts. However, Perrie and Beyoncé seemed to be the ones that noticed it was wrong for them to be the only ones that got to shine and tried to make a change. It's not their fault they are chosen because of their voices and looks. However, they hold power because they're the eye-catcher and the IT girl. I was WAITING for you and other KZreadrs to cover this! I was super excited about all the new PCD music however I do think all this is jacked up! the girls(from what I’ve seen) have been able to cultivate their own close bonds with each other minus Nicole. If I’m not mistaken a few members were even bridesmaids in each other’s weddings. So melody saying that the members needed to spend more time focusing on their BTS interactions is really meant for Nicole. I have been saying for months since all the legal stuff came out, that the tour could still happen under certain circumstances. As much as I love the group, PCD was meant to be a stepping stone for Nicole and her solo career. I think the tour could work if melody rejoins the lineup, they remove Nicole as lead and give Nicole a solo set. I say this because that way they can all have what they want. In old videos you could see on the doll domination tour (when Nicole wasn’t present) the other 4 seemed to be more in sync and they looked happier without her. If you let Nicole open the show with a solo set she can have what’s rightfully hers. The spotlight alone. Then you can give the girls of PCD who truly want to make an effort in the group BE THE GROUP. They could also throw in some of melody’s solo work as it’s on brand with the pinup style PCD is known for. As an encore for the show any song Nicole has writing credits on and all their big hits as a group should be sung as a 6 piece and then you close the show. As far as PCD worldwide, Robin and Nicole should have equal stakes in the new business venture because they both have a respected role in the dolls’ popularity. PCD wouldn’t have the overall aesthetic without Robin and the music wouldn’t have been conceptualized without a voice and diverse lineup and that’s Nicole.

As much as I love Nicole and her solo career. It clearly didn’t work well for her as she may have wanted to. Now I’m the type of music listener who doesn’t care what others listen to and what’s popular but to me I feel it does matter to Nicole. It shows that teaming up with robin works in her favor. Her creative process didn’t work for her solo career so why would she think it would be different for the girls. They all need each other cause it just seems to work best that way. Egos have no place in music cause ish like this then happens. Thanks for giving us one last single and amazing video/ last live tv performance

i saw them live back in 2006 and it was a mess, i mean, it was a nice show but the girls could barley connect with Nicole on stage, i felt like that was the pussycat dolls and then Nicole by herself. In this case, they should never comeback honesty, or they should do a all new album with fresh new songs where everybody is singing and then make sure it would be the same vibe on stage. good luck to all of them thoooo

The thing is most other the other girls Kimberley and Ashley had other projects like appearing as judges on shows also itv shows in the uk,they were doing their own thing and people liked them for them but to go back into the group to be a backing dancer again treated unfairly seems like a step back. I know they are trained dancers but their voices were actually heard for once not Nicole’s.

There’s absolutely no need for the others to sing. When you have Nicole as lead, the most you can expect is a verse on an album track and for Nicole to slay as normal. If they all had an equal competency I’d say it should have been divided. But Nicole is stronger than them all put together and the bands USP.

agreed! seeing them live, u can see & hear how talented Nic is. It was always managements/Robyn's decision who sings lead, for the most part. Nis is an incredible singer & dancer, not to mention she is unbelievably beautiful too!

That's not what a girl group is about. If she wants to sing solo, BE solo. But Nicole tried that and failed, 3 times. So she needed to share this time around, but didn't.

@@Nocturne22there’s a whole psychology that goes into marketing of groups. WE may feel ways, but the fact Nicole was centre and that’s where the success happened shows no one else had to be singing. It worked. It stopped working because of others feelings of entitlement. I wish they embraced their positions and enjoyed it for what it was. A once in a lifetime opportunity for people who would otherwise have been backing dancers. Nicole, she’d have been known somehow.

I always felt like the group was only about Nicole with the other just being that: stage props. They were just there in the background while the main focus was Nicole. Besides, while Nicole has a successful solo career, she's no Michael Jackson or Diana Ross or Beyonce. While having great solo hits, they're mostly forgettable and she herself isn't much of an icon. Nicole will only be known as being the PCD as a whole, meaning, she's the whole band, even without the others. When people refer to the PCD, they're only referring to Nicole.

I loved React but didn’t hear about any new music. Honestly don’t know if there was a huge demand for their music or a tour before. After all of this drama, I think they probably drove any remaining fans they had away from buying concert tickets in the future since they’re such a gamble.

I think it has to do with how the group started. The originator of the burlesque show decided to have only 1 decent singer instead of 3, r, or 5 because she wanted control over what PCD the singing girl group was. So now it’s a battle between the face & the behind the scenes person

To stand out when you are in a group where you are not the leader, it is not easy at all. If Nicole was able to do it, it's because she was put in front and sang almost all the songs while the others were dancing or were present in the video to be in it. Their return with '' React '' made me very happy, they still marked a generation. However, they should not be linked with the Destiny's Childs, their stories are completely different. Don't forget that Michael, Diana and others started as a group but they were the leader of the group and people didn't say anything. On the contrary, with Beyoncé, people put the blame on her for not letting Kelly and Michelle shine, while she always invited them for big occasions like Coachella or the Superbowl and they are always there for each other, but this is another story.

I was excited to hear more of the other girls sing. We only got glimpses during their original run and their vocals on “React” were turned way down, you wouldn’t even know they were singing had fans not filtered the songs to head them.
