7:00 Learn more about the best diet for acne!
Today I’m going to share the best remedies for acne. When a person has acne, multiple things are happening at once.
The oil glands are called sebaceous glands-they make oil or sebum. Usually, the sebaceous glands are inflamed, enlarged, and producing too much oil.
Typically, bacteria are also involved, affecting the immune system and creating more inflammation.
One of the biggest causes of acne is a shift in hormones. But, a high-carb diet and frequent eating can also cause acne. It’s essential to get on a low-carb diet and do intermittent fasting to help get rid of acne fast.
Another one of the top acne causes is a deficiency in vitamin D. Vitamin D can regulate bacteria involved in acne-it’s a potent antibacterial. If you're deficient in vitamin D, you won’t be able to control acne-causing microbes.
Vitamin D also supports the sebaceous glands to help reduce swelling of the glands and oil production.
The best natural remedies for acne:
1. Take vitamin D3 (20,000 IU)
2. Get on the Healthy Keto® diet
3. Do intermittent fasting
4. Stop scrubbing your skin
5. Consume cod liver oil
6. Consume fatty fish

@@MrVictorSlavov I used to take 2000 iu vitamin D and the level would stay between 30-35. About 18 months ago, my doctor recommended a higher dose and I started to take 5000 iu since then. The issue is that people believe that the standard American diet is healthy (I.e. food pyramid) making you believe your behaviors are fine. A phrase I’m constantly hearing is to ‘trust the science’. Well the driving motivation in industry is profits, so which industries are highly profitable? Are there industries directly related to health?

Doctor, I never considered this, but it's so true for my case! I am now in my 40s, and suffered from a sudden and terrible bout of acne in my teenage years. Previous to this acne outbreak, I always had healthy unproblematic skin. But the acne almost magically started up when I was preparing for my school leaving exams, ie, regular school was on break and I was staying at home to study. No playing outside, no walking in the sun (ie, no vitamin D). Now it makes sense!

Thanks a lot🙂🙂🙂And well, I tried a lot and went to many doctors...I suffer from acne since I was a teenager and still do, I'm 25 now. Most doctors wouldn't even mention that the diet is important for treatment, some even neglect that sugar is bad. I can say that I notice a difference eating less sugar and taking vitamin D but its hard to change the diet. Especially eating no chocolate or sweets.

I have been plagued with acne most of my life. As a teen, I was always in the sun, and since I grew up poor, I ate one full meal a day. My skin --- face and hair --- was very oily. I will say that sugar irritated it, but lack of it never cured it --- even with modest food intake. What I discovered in my 50s is that soap and washing my face with any kind was my biggest enemy. Now I rinse in the morning and evening with plain warm water and that has almost eliminated breakouts. I think stress and lack of sleep do contribute to breakouts and too much sugar. As recommended, I will increase my vit D intake.

I got rid of my acne that lasted all the way into my 30s without going keto. Definitely not a necessary step. I find that how much sugar I eat had no impact on my skin, whereas eating low quality/highly processed foods and foods with refined seed oils did give me breakouts. A combination of reducing stress, getting more sun and exercise, and getting proper nutrition and sleep are what made my acne go away. Basically, just become healthier, and it will show in your skin.

I can say personally I've had quite bad acne on my face since teenage years, and even in my early twenties I am still suffering from it. I have noticed that, even though it doesn't go away completely, it gets SO much better when I stop eating sugars from some days, and I treat my face with tea tree oil and hip rose oil. I have also tried hip rose berries infusion and I put it on my face which also helps lots. Some days I still eat some desserts on holidays and some days later I get some bad acne, It's difficult avoiding it when you have a sweet tooth...

Fluoridated water gave me chronic recurrent UTIs and borderline hypothyroidism after I moved to a city with fluoridated water. Dental treatments were not a problem prior but I was given fluoride tablets as a child so I was probably full of it. I noticed I became thirstier after drinking tap water in the new city so I got an RO filter, or drank spring water, and the UTIs went away. Tamarind paste (teaspoon in hot water daily) got rid of the fluoride symptoms eventually. They use it in India to detox fluoride (research to back) because of high fluoride in the soil of some states. It is a leading cause of low IQ in those states so they give children tamarind paste in school!

Another thing that I have found to be very helpful is using natural calcium bentonite clay. You can order online or find at natural foods store - you add some water into the clay to make a paste then apply to affected areas. It can be left on overnight and dries out the pimples without drying out the skin. If someone has a lot of acne, then leaving on overnight might not feel comfortable but leave on for an hour in morning or night then wash off. Of course, the right diet is going to help the most - but I have found this a great and inexpensive hack to dry out pimples overnight.

I live in another country and I want to tell you important information. You recommend eating fish in your videos. The cheapest fish oil which contains all the same substances as expensive fish is called: capelin. Vitamin D is destroyed at 100 degrees Celsius. The best option for preparing this fish for food is to place it in salt water with spices for 3 days. Or another way to preserve vitamin D is to cook fish at a temperature lower than 100 C. There is also vitamin D in fodder yeast (they are added to pig feed when they lack vitamin D).

If you're already doing LCHF diet or KETO and wanting to gain weight, I'd recommend lifting heavier weights (provided you are lifting correctly), and of course, increasing your caloric intake. If you have a hard time eating more, but do okay with nuts and seeds, I'd recommend eating your regular diet, and adding healthy nuts or pure nut butter. Whether it's macadamias, pistachios, walnuts, or pecans (my choices), you'd be able to add weight fairly quickly. Considering your goal is to gain weight, you're someone who can drink the bulletproof coffee and look past the need to avoid additional healthy fats. Not that this matters, but being a former athlete that played and worked out at a VERY high level regularly (because it was my job) compared to now, these things seem to work extremely well for me to maintain or gain, provided you aren't sedentary. GOOD LUCK!!! YOU GOT THIS!! OH YEAH, and don't forget: ADEQUATE SLEEP IS KEY!!

In the dermatology world the sun is touted as only pure evil and will cause you skin cancer. The likes of Dr Dray promote complete shielding every time you go out even in winter where the UV index is close to zero, or spend your life in a dark basement if you can! As someone with olive tanned skin who very rarely burns I find my skin always looks best in the summer, after a day spent at the beach my skin is always glowing and my back acne clears. As I turned into a "veteran" later on I now routinely go on 2-5 day fasts every 2 months. The feeling you get at around 36 to 40 hours beats any street drug out there. Your not hungry at all, your full of energy, for some reason your extremely happy and productive and you could care less when your next meal will be. Ah the power of ghrelin! Best thing I ever did was going on this program, losing all that weight and getting off all those prescriptions I was on.

@@brushstroke3733 No but I will tell you I was unique. I was consuming 350-400 grams of sugar per day through drinks alone. My first weigh in was at 13 days and I had lost 7 pounds. That really got me motivated even though most was probably water weight. I documented my weight and wrote it down every morning and evening for 8 months without missing a day. Ghrelin is your biggest enemy to conquer. Ghrelin is the hunger hormone that takes you to those sugar cravings and hunger episodes. Once you cheat by eating just on cookie you ruin a days work because you have spiked insulin the fat storing hormone for about 5 hours. I'm no expert at any of this but what I do know is the more you eat the hungrier you will get later on. I know that sounds backwards but it's true.

I would go to dermatologist who would inject something into the cysts and they would go away in 3 days. When I didnt get the injection, the cyst would not go away for about 2 weeks. and I would be left with a scar that lasted for 3 months. No one ever said anything about nutrition.

Vitamin D deficiency seems to be the base for almost every issue! I started having issues with acne @ 52-53 BEFORE I discovered IR! It had gotten better with time (increased D) cut back on carbs, but unfortunately I’ve been left with scaring on my pink skin because of it. The acne that I deal with is like grains of sand under my skin. It’s been, almost, traumatizing what’s its done to my skin and self esteem!

if there are hormonal disturbances none of the above listed are going to help...so checking for hormones should be done - I suffered with it for many years, and back then, that was when Accutane came out (isomer of vitamin A) -- that was the only thing that had worked for me. Of course, at that time, it was experimental and you needed to be on a lowfat diet along with getting pregnancy tested every month (fetal abnormalities) -- I can tell you that the emotional scarring from having cystic acne is something you just don't forget.

Seems like a lot of the comments are argumentative. But since I have been through some of this I wanted to share my story too. The biggest impact to reducing my acne was to quit drinking milk and eating ice cream. I seem to be able to eat all the cheese and butter I want. It was a dairy/digestion thing. I can eat sugary stuff and carbs with no flare ups. As far as being deficient in Vit D3 and taking 20000 IUS this would be good to start with but tapering down to 2000 IUS per 50 lbs. of bodyweight is recommended to sustain VD3 levels. Sorry I have lost my source for that. I personally have my sleep disturbed if I take D3 before bed so I take mine in the morning. This lets me know it is having an affect. And I was taking 8000 IUS and I weigh a little over 200 lbs. So, if you take Dr. Berg's advice you should expect to notice your supplement doing something. I have never supplemented with Vit A. If you suspect a food source is causing your acne try taking digestive enzymes with HCL and Pepsin with your meals. Dr Berg has this supplement and there are others. You may have low stomach acid. Particularly if you are middle aged or older. Fish oil for dry skin. So, it helps with general skin health. You can dose yourself on this too because you will eventually see your dry skin go away as you ramp up dosage and then you can ramp it back down to a more moderate level and dial in the dosage by watching for results. 3 grams per days is recommended for general health and used in most studies and that is a lot compared to most potencies in a bottle. You will have to hunt for a source that get you to this level in only a few capsules. Otherwise you will have to take 10 or 12 or more of the low dose fish oil/cod liver oil. Not that it matters but most people don't like taking that many pills at a time. TLDR; got relief from acne not drinking milk.

My son suffered from severe acne. The only time he cleared up was when he went off dairy. He ended up taking Accutane but he showed better results when he changed his diet. I agree with you. I used to scrub scrub scrub thinking it’ll scrub the acne away, but I was wrong. I started scrubbing with only St. Ives apricot at night & only Cetaphil in the morning, plus Clinique cleansing lotion morning & night. It’s been my go-to routine for 20 years now & I’ve never seen acne again. Anytime I want to try something new or change my routine, I’ll start getting tiny bumps & then it goes away when I return to my old routine.

Way back in the 60's my older brother had a case of acne that was horrific, all over his face, his neck, and even down his back. Huge, yellow pustules that were also red and swollen. He looked like something out of the Middle Ages with the Plague. A doctor prescribed a sulfa based medication (I don't remember if it was topical or in pill form or both). The acne went away within a week. Unfortunately he was left with a lot of scarring on his face, but the problem never came back. Some people can't take sulfa, as it gives them bad headaches, and I am one of them. But sulfa is very effective against bacteria for those who can take it. If you have run out of options, talk to your doctor about sulfa, in addition to a diet change as recommended in this video. Diet is very important, but you must get rid of the bacteria.

Okay, had to come back here again. Acne is a finicky problem, there can be a lot of causes. For me it looks like vitamin D deficiency was the culprit. Did not show up in my blood test months ago. I struggled with acne most of my life and the answer is seemingly so simple! Especially now that it is winter, I am also a night owl, barely any sunlight for me. I was really hesitant taking such a large volume in supplements but then i remembered in another berger video that it is incredibly hard to overdose on vitamin D. I've been taking 10.8k UI daily (the extra is from cod liver oil, 800 UI was clearly not enough) for almost a week now. Virtually everything cleared up. I have only one tender spot left and some redness. I'm so happy. Thank you for pointing out the obvious!
