I´m a valet and we got a Plaid and after talking to the guest he let me floor it. You will never be thrown back so hard in a seat in your life. Like Doug said, it´s the craziest roller coaster you´ve ever been on. I´ve had the opportunity to floor Ferraris, Lamborghinis and the like and nothing comes close to the Plaid. It´s fucking scary quick.

Hey Doug, I stumbled across something today I had no idea existed, and would make a good video if you could find one. It's a real oddity. The Sterling Bullet. They were basically a Ram 3500+, but these were badged under Sterling, which is predominantly a medium to heavy duty truck manufacturer. They sort of had a cult following, and because they never had pickup truck beds from the factory, some people made it their mission to make it work, and the one I saw today looked factory. Really a nice looking truck that's aged well.

I cannot describe the suprise of an electric car being the fastest car you can buy now. Growing up in the 60's, and 70's. If you tried to convince me back then that this would be engineered in the future. I would have never believed it. Just insane. I still personally want to hear my engine though. Not a big fan of its styling, but would be more than happy to own one because of it's performance.

Just a handful of years ago, 2s 0-60 & low 9s 1/4mj was unthinkable for a true (>1000 units IMO) production car-let alone a family LSS, and let alone an EV. Similar arguments about the limitations of grip were up in the air at that time…. But Musk made it happen anyway, and they’ve been produced by the tens of thousands with people launching off stops on the daily… This is real, daily life for thousands of people-something once thought preposterous. And FWIW, Pininfarina just accomplished a 1.79s 0-60 with their newest hyperEV. What’s another .29s off that? If anyone can do it, Tesla can… There’s no doubt in my mind that we will see a roadster with those feats, in the near future. Hell, the plaid could probably do it already, with the current tri-motor architecture stuffed into a roadster body & losing a thousand pounds or so. Beyond that, I see your point…. Physics cannot be undone, and there will be a (more or less) safe limit at which any production road will be unable to surpass, no matter how well-engineered. Is the limit 1.25? 1s? .75s? Idk, but it’s going to be exciting to find out. And IMHO I don’t think the roadster’s 1.5 is/will be it. But anyway, for god’s sake, give the man some credit for accomplishing the insane achievement that is MSP… I know there’s a lot of anti Musk hate and propaganda going around about him these days. But please, try to keep a clear sight of the truth of the situation, and all the good & downright remarkable things he’s led and/or been a major influence upon.

My boss just got his a few weeks ago and he came out on the floor and grabbed me for a test run. He put it in "plaid" mode and did the launch. Not only is it crushing you into the seat, but there is hardly no sound. Just the sound of the tires on the pavement is all I could hear, maybe a little bit of motor whine when it got up to speed. But I am used to big 427 LS powered rumbling under my ass kind of feeling for those kinds of launches. And 0-60 in 2 seconds? I would have poo pooed that number until I rode in one. I would not doubt that figure at all now. What a ride

The lid does close all the way for the center console. You just have to tap it again, and then you can close the center console lid and hide the cupholders.

But this time he just went full fake and screamed like a little girl.... he was so scared that he kept the pedal to the floor 🙄. Fact is , when someone is accelerating , their are expressionless , quiet , and focused. After they let off is when they react. So basically he's pretending , which means he's not being 100% authentic so everything he's done is now less credible.

The button on the yoke for the horn seems to be a bit of safety hazard. When an emergency crops up instead of laying on the center of the wheel you have a tiny button you must find. I might be old school but everything on that big screen that you need to find that takes your vision off the road I always thought was also more hazardous, sort of like a texting while driving distraction.

The “atomic bomb” AC button is not actually an nuclear symbol, it’s a biohazard one. And it doesn’t just blows a lot of air, he is actually creating a positive pressure inside the cabin, so that air can only go in by the (GIANT) air filter, that is actually a biohazard filter. This will protect the people inside from biohazard weapons. Nice video BTW

I had a Plaid for a month and I was cackling when you floored it because I gave that experience to so many people. I laughed then too.

That “nuclear” symbol isn’t just for high speed AC; it’s also to activate the HEPA filter for super clean air! (The fact that it goes at max speed is just a byproduct of this fact, not the main feature)

This type of air filter can theoretically remove at least 99.97% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and any airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns (µm). That means a whole lot of biohazardous particles stay outside of the car. Practically it means you are better protected from the air pollution ICE vehicles produce in front of you! This is apparently an underrated feature.

The Storage cover lid does actually cover the entire compartment. You tap once for halfway and twice to completely cover the compartment.

Doug's passion is so infectious it's borderline dangerous.

I skipped ahead to watch Doug's acceleration reactions. Worth it.

Another review of this who’s video drops this week actually called it painful. Overall he was far less kind than Doug but he takes nothing away from the sheer sensation, which he called “painful, like astronaut testing painful” that the Plaid can do and hat tips to Tesla’s engineers. They get a lot of shit wrong but acceleration ability is not one of them. He said he felt his eyeballs squeezing back in their sockets and he’s driven Hellcats etc. To Doug’s point a lot of kids if millionaires borrowing Daddy’s car will be killing themselves, hope they don’t take out innocent people as well.

Had a Y LR for a week, then Plaid for a week and now a 3 performance the last week on this business trip, and the Plaid is insane. It feels like it pulls twice as hard as this 3P. And where the 3P falls off at around 80, the Plaid when stabbed at 80, pulls almost just as hard. It's nuts I never went over 130 but it gets there FAST! Gotta remember the spectrum: I clocked 0-100 in 4.5 seconds, and these hit 150 in 9 so if you stab it at 100 you'll hit 150 in a hair under 5 seconds. It's unbelievable

That door handle is a great sign that this car won't last very long at all. I have a Honda, and it's 20 years old and drives and looks like it's brand new.

update..we love space x. We traveled to Boca Chica to the the starshing get built. & we got the S dual motor fsd last Christmas 🎄 😎 still have the cybertruck tri motor or 4 motor fsd on order, i got lots of solar & backup battery system to charge them both

The emergency shifter can be accessed at any time by pressing on it and holding the button and it’ll light up. The center console does close all the way, you just gotta push it back again to engage it all the way. The 21” wheels are available on the regular long range as well not just for the Plaid.

@@mrpoohbearlvr it would filter Covid and SARS along with other common cold viruses. It's basically a N95~N99 HEPA filter and other than some really small viruses it should filter out the other larger viruses and bacteria. And, no it won't filter out nerve gases, gaseous molecules are far smaller than that size, but it will filter out most pollutants around 2.5micron ~ or larger sizes. Bio Defense does mean Bio Defense as it's protecting from most bio hazards..nerve gas doesn't belong to that category. And Yes, it's an expensive air filter and some other cars have it too, Tesla just decided to call it bio defense mode(because it's true).

Doug's reaction over the acceleration makes you forget the paint quality and the door handles issue 😂
