Everyone wants to use the, "20% off damage" argument like it's a big disadvantage. Hitting a DP that you otherwise wouldn't have or reacting to ANY button with a Level 3 super more than makes up for the damage in a round.

I dont hear "everyone" make that point. It IS a disadvantage and its there to mentioned, rarely anyone ever says its a "BIG" disadvantage. It's one of the disadvantages on top of others. It's just that certain characters dont have quite enough "other" disadvantages like luke

something u didn't mention but her light auto combo on block is very safe since spiral arrow doesn't come out, so u can throw it out as a block string or DR cancel it into grab it's a very easy option select

THANK YOU for this guide. No knock against other content creators, it's all valuable stuff, but a lot of guides start out assuming you know how to play. I just want the most barebones, basic gameplan possible so that when the round starts I'm not panicking thinking about all the moves I could do. I want to do Honda headbutt spam on EVERY character and then when that doesn't work then I'll learn another move. I don't need to know all 453 uses of whiff punish crouching medium punch, I just want to know "when they jump, press down+special".

Jiyuna is the goat for making this guide, cause I played Modern Cammy since like day 3

Cammy's been my go to for years because of her great spacing options and modern controls with her feels like being let off of a leash. the damage reduction doesn't really matter when you're just closing gaps 🤷‍♂

This was perfect timing, you are the best Modern Ambassador! I picked up Modern Cammy this past week, and I came to the same conclusion too: that she exploits the benefits of Modern more than any other character. Even more than Luke, because she has better supers and her specials benefit more from Modern inputs than his, and he still needs to do Classic inputs and get Perfect charges. She's missing a couple key normals (standing light kick and crouching medium punch), but the core gameplay is still very much intact. After playing her, I feel so crippled going back to other characters.

Saving all your best tips till after Evo

This guide can legit make anyone play so well. Btw Jamie's 4f jab is now available to modern. I am so happy, I can now ex bakkai everyone's fireball on reaction while also having jamie's 7 +1 setups finally usable :| . He's pretty godlike in modern, having maybe the fastest fireball projectile invul move at longer range, dp and dive kick.

the thing you said about level 3 is so true, that shit is SO obnoxious to play against, modern cammy players will just sit back and wait for you to try ANYTHING

I miss the Boxing Fgc tier list Jiyuna, feels like since sf6 we've only been getting the educational help the new player Jiyuna. U need to hook us boomers with a new vid

amazing! I'm a newb, starting watching your vids, learnt some basics like safe moves and basic terms in the game and then tried out Modern Marisa in casual and battle hub mods for a few weeks. After that I went to rank. To my surprise, I went from silver 4 (placement) to plat at a 60% win-rate. I'm definitely gonna try modern cammy now.

After the spiral arrow, dash in setup, it is better to use auto-medium than jab. If you use jab, it is possible to execute too quickly and whiff. But the dash leaves you at +8, so if you just time everything as soon as possible the auto-medium will hit meaty. Then if it is a hit, you can confirm into auto-heavy, spiral arrow and reset. Because of the meaty hit, even if it is not counterhit, it will still combo. It's both easier to do and more damage. Also with this combo, you can finish with heavy spiral arrowq, which gives more KD advantage meaning on the NEXT dash in you can instead use crouch HP to hit meaty, which confirms into the same combo, but if they block leaves you in their face at +3.

@@ANIMEILLUMINATI The meaty hit increases the advantage enough to make it work on normal hit too, as long as both the dash and the auto-medium were executed on first frame. This is actually easier to time since you can now use the buffer window, whereas the jab requires pretty specific timing if you want to get it timed right so that it both doesn't whiff, but still beats out wakeup throw tech. This is due to the fact that the jab needs to be delayed a couple frames, meaning you can't utilize the buffer window. Basically, just aim to execute the dash and followup a couple frames BEFORE you finish the previous animation and let the buffer take care of the rest.

The best dash in meaty setup on cammy is 2HP Which is accessible on modern, and it frametraps into jab on block, links into 5hp (auto+heavy) on counterhit/punish counter, and thats not factoring in the extra frame advantage from hitting meaty

Im still stuck at diamond 4 but getting close to diamond 5, then a bad day dropped me to 23200 again lol, I guess Im just not worthy to reach master rank Nothing new for me on this guide but it definitely help for other modern chad gang! Ex spiral arrow to lv3 is really handy as well as you can combo it from jab jab to 1 button ex spiral (or from the corner steal tech, ex spin jab to ex spiral+lv3) 1 button lv1 also can save lives especially on burn out, just remember that its only strike invul, dont use it againts projectile lol

Lol this crazy im trying her out now, Im currently diamond 3 with modern Manon, and want to use a faster character with a DP as a alternative. I grinded my terrible modern Cammy up to platinum from iron on a 20+ win streak lol

Great guide. I have been messing around with Cammy on modern and it's a lot of fun. Only real downside for me is I like to play on stick so having to hit two buttons to get her Standing HP is not ideal.

Depends on button placement, I have the auto button and heavy attack next to each other, the more difficult one is stand medium punch, I basically never use it since pressing auto and medium attack is such a faff....but yeah, definitely feels like playing modern on stick is a little superfluous

Just jump in the same place players usually fall for it as soon as you hit the ground drive rush, she'll still be airborne for a sec after drive rushing do a standing light or throw loop.

after medium spiral arrow if you dash (in the corner you can framekill with light kick) you can couch fierce and it's a guaranteed meaty and that's her plus frames button.

Modern doesn’t have crMP so it’s hard to combo if crHP hits non-CH. Jab is more stable.

​@@ANIMEILLUMINATI I knew some moves aren't availabe in modern but I don't know which ones (never looked into modern much), but whatever links and is special cancelable after crHP is fine, i think. it's not really about the damage with her. she reminds me of ggst i-no, knockdown mix repeat, low damage unless you're going for super optimal stuff, but we aren't sweating here. crHP+jabs is good as auto-pilot and for new players too, because if you hit you do the combo, if they block you go for lights blockstring for the pushback.

I was thinking of what character to add to my long-term lineup along with Juri and JP to round it out. Classic Cammy feels a little too similar to (classic) Juri from my experience, but Modern Gaming Cammy looks like there’s enough standout traits to justify the addition. For what it's worth from my new player perspective, Cammy was by far easiest to play character for me. At least i progressed with her further than with any other character.

How are you getting 5 frames of advantage after a Spiral Arrow + dash? I get 8, and I even see you get 8 once in the video. 8 frames of advantage makes the grab miss unless I try to manually delay, which makes the whole loop less consistent as I might get jabbed out of the grab if I'm a couple frames late.

My only thing is dont like is the low damage... but is hella fun to play in Modern, but for example play modern Juri and the damage is hella insane compared to Cammy, but like i said, praise moden controls ❤

Cammys damage isnt ACTUALLY low except in the sense her basic meterless strings are But when it comes to things like using meter cammys damage is on par with juri

what controller and button layout would you recommend for modern? messing around with modern on my snackbox the layout feels pretty awkward to get used to. i play with my right thumb on the up button so it's hard to try and use it for holding down assist when needed

It’s Light Spiral Arrow > Heavy Cannon Spike Ex OD Knuckle > back MP > HK target combo > Hooligan into very delayed Divekick to put them back in corner is optimal

Remap the buttons to fit ur needs but I find having special on the top 4th and assist under the top 3 helps So L M H SP Assist DI Parry is my setup.
