The Story of Jason McIntosh

Jason McIntosh was an abusive husband who had already shot his wife, Megan Montgomery once. Even though he had domestic abuse charges pending against him and MEgan had an order of protection against him, the state decided it would be reasonable to give him back his gun.

If you are a victim of domestic abuse, please reach out to someone for help. Please call the national domestic abuse hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE. That’s 1-800-799-7233 or go to thehotline.org to chat with someone online. The great thing about this website is that, at any time, hitting the escape key twice will instantly take your browser to a google search page. In the event the abuser is nearby, you can ensure that you don’t get caught trying to get help.
If you are having feelings of harming yourself or someone else or even just need someone to talk to, please contact your local mental health facility, call 911 or call Mental Health America who operate the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK. That’s 1-800-273-8255. They’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It's america. This is not surprising at all. Check out Castle Rock v. Gonzales. A woman has a *permanent* restraining order against her ex-husband. He kidnapped their 3 children, she called the police over & over, even went there to show the cops a copy of the order. They refused to help her. Her ex was able to buy a gun, which he used to shoot the 3 kids. She sued the police dept and lost because they didn't have to enforce the order. That was in the 90's! Nothing will ever get better there.

I agree…but apparently, they were new friends and didn’t know her well. One of the men there wrote a long, remorseful letter saying that when he said “I’m her husband”, he was thrown because he didn’t even know that there was a husband in the picture. He waited a moment too long, then she was gone. He said ever since then, he has nightmares and is wracked with guilt. He also pleaded with others not to do the same as him but to speak up. Don’t get me wrong: hell YES, they should’ve seen something was wrong and acted on it, but…pretty sure at least one of them is paying for it now.

@@msjujuz266 From what that guy said, “they” didn’t even know she was married much less that he was a violent ex-cop she had a restraining order against. I don’t know what “they” means, whether it was the whole table or just a couple of them. Again, I agree that they should’ve done something, but when you see something happening that seems totally out of the blue, most people’s response is to freeze. It’s not “fight or flight”; the first instinct is to freeze. All mammals react this way. I’m not taking up for these people. It’s just that I’m trying to see how that happened and that one man is so torn up and feels so much guilt he has nightmares, I really don’t think it was a case of “not my problem”. If nothing else, maybe people who hear about this will know to be more proactive if they witness something similar. And if you’ve ever been in an abusive relationship, you can immediately recognize the signs and the danger…but fortunately, most people haven’t experienced that and don’t see it. And as somebody who has been in a violent relationship, I am definitely not excusing them for not trying to at least ask what the hell is going on…just trying to understand why. That one man sure seems to be paying for it.

True. I used to leave for work at 4 am. one morning I ran face to face with a strange man in my front yard! He ran to his truck, I jumped in my car & chased him for his liscense plate. my husband and I went into the police department with the plate number. The detective came back later to tell my husband and I I that the guy worked for the fire department. he came from a good family, and that he just dropped something ( on our property) and was just looking for it! 😂 My husband was furious!!

Especially when you see this happening all the time with cops. They shoot or kill people all the time. Seems like abusers love those law enforcement careers. Like the guy who shot his wife in the head, left the apartment, and came back later saying she shot herself in the closet. She survived, but she has no memory of it. Cop walked. Then there was that 911 call I heard from a female officer who was coming home, and accidentally went up an extra flight of stairs or something like that, ending up at her neighbor's house, thought that her neighbor was a burglar in her apartment, and shot him dead in his own home. Just happened to be the neighbor she had problems with too. I don't know what happened to her. But cops kill innocent people all the time.

I want to say to all the ladies out there.. If you are with an abusive man, know this..he will not change..he will never STOP.. it will only grow far more worse than you can imagine... I have spent the last five years with a man that I thought was my savior.. he took me from one abusive relationship and put me in what I thought was a loving Escape.. I wouldn't know how wrong I was until about a year into this relationship.. at first you stay because you think you can change him, you believe there is hope, then you stay because you're manipulated into believing that every time he lashes out it's your fault.. not his.. you're the cause and he's the effect.. then you stay out of fear.. I know this fear all to well.it is not ill rational.. You stay because the consequences of leaving in your mind outweigh the consequences of staying.. then he proposes and you start to think in your head "wow he does really love me" he just has these silly little flaws.. by silly little flaws I mean beating you over the smallest matters.. Like.. The floor being on the floor.. but in your head you think why would he propose to me if you didn't truly love me!? and you rationalize everything.. "he's only like this because his dad is a jerk" ..."it's not his fault" and so many more excuses... the wedding comes and goes.. And the harsh reality truly sets in that it changes nothing ..if anything it's much much worse now ...you're officially his property and has paperwork to prove it.. and everyone around you that you thought were your friends say to you "if you were so scared why would you marry him?"... "if it was so bad why did you say yes?" and more than ever you blame yourself ..at this point it could be only your fault ..you find yourself staring blankly into the mirror behind a locked door in the bathroom.. you think to yourself it's been 5 years 5 years of such lost time.. time you spent cowering. and now a formal shell of who you wanted to be and who you saw yourself becoming.. last week marks my 5 years.. this is a sentence not a relationship... and only recently I have secretly decided enough is enough there is no changing a man like this if 5 years is not proof enough.. Then there won't ever be enough proof for anyone.. so I say to you ladies get out before you waste years of your life I wish I would have made this Choice years ago I hate myself for the wasted time but I am no longer blaming myself for his faults I have secretly taken the proper steps to get out I finally accepted none of this is love none of this is happiness none of this should be.... by this time next week I'll be far away and Stay in a place he will never ever know and I will never ever look back.. please get out and get away trust me when I say I know all the feelings I know all your ups and downs I know how it goes ..how many times can you walk around in the same circle before you want to break free..? get out of the circle before it changes shape.. the shape of a pine box with just enough room for your body.. 🦋🦋🦋

My family has been touched by murder and the guy got the death penalty, that's what happens in Texas... I agree. With the word domestic it seems to be treated differently than an assault that happened between two other people, say a bar fight. I swear some cops see that “domestic” label and think oh just another fight between spouses that is just nothing when they need to take any assault seriously. And that goes for women assaulting men as well. It happens a lot and it just gets brushed under the table. Assault is assault and they should drop the word domestic from it and when someone calls for help and says someone has hurt them it doesn’t matter who it is the person who hurt them should be arrested and dealt with. All assaults should be treated as if someone walked up to a stranger on the street and decided to just attack them, unprovoked. Then have that person try to prove to a judge after that they didn’t mean to do it and if she/he hadn’t provoked them they wouldn’t have hit them. I bet if it was presented that way judges would think differently about sentencing them and making sure they have no access to any weapons
