It’s not that Livia didn’t try to stop it, she was the MAIN REASON it happened. She influenced Junior to do it.
Just a heads up, Junior was mad about the nursing home because yes the captains just moved there mothers in there so they could meet in secret from the feds but they were also meeting in secret from Junior and taking orders from Tony who was actually in control of the family and only gave Junior the "Illusion of power" Which he learned in therapy.

Exactly...Junior had good reason to be angry and disappointed at that...they were going behind his back yet he was the boss...that's not right
@CopiousDoinksLLC
Жыл бұрын
@@supastar25 It's a bit of a grey area because officially, Junior was the boss but Tony lied when he said the captains would follow Junior's leadership. That's the key problem and Tony knew it: it doesn't just take fear and intimidation to be in charge, you have to actually have the confidence of your men. So in reality, both men have a pretty good argument as to why they should be boss; Junior has experience and wisdom on his side but Tony is the one that everyone will follow into battle.
You two are such a sweetly wholesome couple that it's bizarrely hilarious to hear you guys use the word "pussy" about 80 times in a single video 😸

Right!? 💯
FUN FACT: On the day of Tony's attempted murder, he buys orange juice from the newsstand. The show writers has said that the scene was a homage to The Godfather film when Don Vito buys oranges from the fruit stand just moments before he get's shot too.😉
You're gonna love the rest of the series. A masterpiece of film.

As good as the show is now, it gets so much better in future seasons.
Tony knew from the beginning it wasn’t just a car-jacking, but he needed to uphold that theory in front of his wife and family. I’m also fairly sure he had a hunch it was Junior right away, but yes he knew for sure by the end of the episode, of course he wouldn’t say anything to Melfi though. Loving the reactions so far! Things develop a lot from here. The characters are complex and there are going to be many inner workings and rules to the mafia you’ll come to learn which may not make sense right away. Thanks for the reactions :)
You guys making your way through this series almost feels like watching it for the first time again myself, so thank you for that. Great batch of episodes. The car scene with Melfi in episode 12 captures Gandolfini's brilliance as an actor, being able to make you feel for a guy like this.
Expectations for S2 were set sooo high. And the show exceeded them imo. It just keeps getting better from here!

Im excited for Richie!!
I'm just counting the hours for every new Sopranos reaction from you guys, I love watching you guys watch it so much. I'm also excited by how excited you guys are getting about the show. As others have said, buckle up, because the seasons after this are much more intense with a lot more going on, you're going to love it!
I love the way you guys were so delighted by the twists and turns in these episodes and stressed about Pussy being an informant lol. You've obviously fallen for this show so quickly, so invested in what happens.
I specifically wanted to see your reactions to the last episode, and I wasn't disappointed.....You two are hilarious with your constant guessing and paranoia when you watch this show, lol....
The first Sopranos episode I ever seen from beginning to end was Season 3, Episode 2, on A&E of all places (so it was heavily edited). Such a random, yet pivotal episode. But it drew me in. It's a testament to the quality of the show that one random heavily edited episode mid-series can keep me watching to the end.
THE WIRE ITS JIMMY IT'S FUCKIN JIMMY! Such class acting
Seen this series multiple times now rewatching with y’all is awesome! I want two more episodes now ! Haha thanks again!
so glad you guys are doing this series, in my opinion it's one of the all time greatest shows ever made. These episodes are very interesting, Tony's cop informant is an interesting character I always thought.
Hey, you may take a look at The Wire. Also from HBO - widely considered the best TV show ever made. It's a slow burn, especially for the first few episodes, but I can't think of another show in which I was so invested. It might seem like a slow "cops vs drug dealers" type of show, but it's basically a story about how a big city works - from a drug dealer on the corner, to the police, school system and blue collar workers finally to media and politics. You guys should definitely check it out.
@joemilo2710

The Sopranos is the best and most realistic dialog written and acted series ever. The Wire can't even compare to it, it has highly unrealistic script and has typical series happenings and characters, almost nothing extraordinary.
@flarrfan
Жыл бұрын
@@joemilo2710 Yeah, I tried Wire a few times but just couldn't get into it like I did Sopranos. Two other HBO series I loved that got canceled long before their intended climax were Carnivale and Deadwood. If it weren't for the last episode where they had to wrap everything up too soon, I'd suggest a reaction to Carnivale, IMO the first season was an overlooked masterpiece.
@joemilo2710

@@flarrfan Yeah, Wire is a good series, but nothing too special and to me it has a lot of unrealistic character dialog, as if drug dealers and especially street drug dealers have that profound and smart way of talking and thinking always. Thanks, maybe I'll check out Carnivale.
The cop informant was played by John Heard, star of Cutter's way. Such an amazing actor. Played such a creepy character in Sopranos.

To answer your question about lithium. . . Yes, its nit used as much anymore. It was known to cause hallucinations and even to cause memory loss. In fact, information on this was kind of coming out around the time this show was happening.

Guys, you're doing a really great job with the analysis and insights. I've watched other reactors who have reached this stage and are still thinking 'I don't really think his mother knows what she's doing and I don't think she's intending to have him killed. She doesn't really know what she's saying'. But you've both seen right through it, so kudos to you both. That's just one example, but your analysis have been spot on through your reactions to a deep, layered show. Great work. Loving rewatching it with you both.

That's very manipulative of her. I've already seen the series several times and never caught that. Good call 👍
The attempted hit on Tony was filmed in my hometown of Montclair, NJ, specifically Midland Avenue off Bloomfield Avenue.
I mentioned this once before, but consider watching David Chase's previous series "I'll Fly Away." It was prematurely cancelled so you only have to watch one season, but it's very much worth your time, and your subscriber's time even though most don't remember it.
Did you guys notice the buying “oranges/orange juice at the newsstand” connection between the failed hit on Tony & the failed hit on Don Corleone in The Godfather? Cool homage and great writing overall. This show is amazing.
Just binge watched loads of your reactions. You two are my new faves. Love your channel. Please please please with sugar on top will you watch Phantom Thread, Withnail & I and (seeing as Shaun of the Dead is one of your faves) the classic tv show Spaced.

“The way the show is written…it’s almost like we’re experiencing like Tony was” Lol. Wew boy….are you guys in for a treat
Both of you are spot on with some of your predictions. 😄👍 Maybe you've already done the next video, but if you haven't, I have an idea for you. After you watch the final episode of the season, but before you give your commentary, watch a recap of the season to remind you of all the major points throughout. If you don't like 3rd-party recap videos, there is likely a season recap attached to the first episode of each season.

I enjoy your channel. Last of the Mohicans is great for Daniel Day Lewis episode.
10:06 Boy, do I sympathise with you. At our house, we call it "The Dabney Coleman Syndrome". Wonderful, fantastically talented actors that do such a great job, you just hate the damn sight of them. The late, great Nancy Marchand may sit at the top of that unfortunate list. For three years we hated on her like you wouldn't believe. I wasn't even allowed to watch "Keeping Up Appearances" because my late husband couldn't stand Hyacinth Bucket. Couldn't separate the actress from the character. That's genius. Livia Soprano always knew *exactly* what she was saying and who she was saying it to. Always. RIP Marchand. RIP Gandolfini. May they be waltzing in The Hereafter.
So glad people are starting to do reactions to this show. Easily one of the greatest shows ever made. It literally was the beginning of modern day television series that are like long form movies . They were basically the first show to do it like that and people fell in love with it. And James Gandolfini acting as Tony is just on another level. He BECAME Tony soprano. He makes you believe it . Just next level acting . Also not sure if you guys know but he passed away in 2013. Extremely sad .
I think you need to do these twice a week. Waiting a week isn’t fun.

Some other reactors are doing the show, and they've kinda made a week standard. I'm up to season 6 with one other pair but enjoying doing the early seasons again with TBR as well.
Tony's best friend lieutenants are Paulie Gualtieri (with silver wings at his temples) and Silvio Dante, owner of the Bada Bing. Silvio is played by Steven Van Zandt, otherwise known as a member of Bruce Springsteen's "E Street Band". Sil's wife, Gabriella Dante, is played by Steven's real-life wife, Maureen Van Zandt.

Yes! I've been waiting for you two to watch these episodes! Such powerhouse episodes. TBR's hatred for Livia Soprano is so pure! She is his archnemesis, LOL! TBR, if it makes you feel any better, James Gandolfini (Tony) said working with Nancy Marchand (Livia) was a lot of fun. He said she'd forget her line and be like, "What's the fuckin' line?", LOL! To Samantha, the close crew member of Tony's that I believe you're thinking is named Jimmy (not the Jimmy that was in Tony's basement) is Silvio Dante. Silvio is the one with the pompadour-like hairstyle who owns the strip club and smokes cigarettes all the time. He always seems to wear a frown on his face, which is hilarious to me. Silvio is played by Steven Van Zandt, a guitarist who has been a part of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band over the years. Extremely cool for those of us who love rock music!
