Yeah a big part of that was you couldn't watch on demand and the shows were syndicated. As a result individual episodes needed to stand on their own because you never knew what episode you could watch on any given day.

The movie got bad reviews because it didn’t stick to the source material and totally screwed up the continuity. A good example is portraying Silvio being with Johnny-Boy and Paulie back in the late 60’s, and being older than Tony. We know that in the show, Silvio and Tony grew up together and used to spy on uncle Junior’s card games. Another ridiculous example is showing Silvio balding with a toupee, suggesting that he was wearing a wig in the show…(obviously it’s a wig, because Steven Van Zandt is bald) even while sleeping.😎😐

The reason The Many Saints doesn't work is simply because it was done right in the middle of the wokest time to make a movie or tv show. This is just plain reality and not knocking any people at all. If you were involved with any level of the Italian mob (even a street crew) and you were black/African American, you would never speak to any of them the way any of those characters did in the show. In fact back in the 40s, 50s and early 60s when Many Saints covers, no black/African American working with a mobster/crew/etc would ever consider even looking at a white (and especially Italian) gf of a mobster/crew member etc. Black people had their our thing, some did business with the mob, but they weren't more than business relations to any mob or crew boss. If they were caught by a mobster flirting with even with their eyes at the gf of a mobster, that person would be six feet under. At the very least beaten so bad it would send a message to don't disrespect any monster by thinking they can stare and even think they could have what was his. The show is very woke. And really relaxed when it comes to how things really were. But the show was trying to crowbar in black actors and expand the story to include that characters story too during a time when some were saying there wasnt enough inclusion and representation on tv and in movies. So they ruin a chance to make a good realistic show that may have become something. And now none of those actors for to be on a continuing series. At least not that one. Everything doesn't need representation. And shouldn't happen at the expense of reality. What they tried to portray didn't work. Because it was too far from reality.

To me best show ever since as an Italian American being in the mob is the only way to get an acting job 🤡 The humor in this show is brilliantly subtle at times

Dave gets a bunch of stuff wrong. There were lots of hour long dramas before the sopranos, Dick Cheney shot a guy in the face with bird shot & Patrice Oneal, burr, Kelly, Hart and norton hung out at the comedy cellar. 😒
