The self is by far the most profound aspect of being human. It is astonishing that we are not who we believe ourselves to be. Instead who we actually are reaches out to us from within (in dreams, intuition, sensations, hunches, synchronicities etc) through the identity that we assume ourselves to be to to instruct us and reveals our true nature to each of us. It blows my mind. I don’t believe in a Christian god but I am absolutely certain that this was meant to be the message of every religion - that our true nature is internal and we must be willing to go within to find it and realise it. We can never become who we really are (the Self) by trying to find ourselves outside of ourselves in the external world. It’s all within each of us.

I thought it's common (perhaps 'common' isn't the best term to describe it)... I can often "predict" (more like calculate?) the future, often times friends come to me for advices and I gave them options & pros and cons of each actions and small warnings for they might take the wrong choices (because I believe the choice is yours only and I shouldn't interfere in your decision making), and whenever my friends chose the "wrong" (more like choices that give them short-term satisfaction) choice, I'd say; "see, I told you."

There are pressures in society that push you into a singularity of behavior. You have to take a stand. This might be interpreted as ego, as opposed to clarity and right action. There are tricksters out there. The sociopaths and narcissists who will take advantage of your naivety about the darker intentions of others and who want to bring forth noise and confusion. Tough to keep your act together. Have fun in your dreams. There you run the show.

Jung was great as he came up with the idea that all humans have a shared psychic consciousness linked together telepathically and even more: there is a cosmic consciousness beyond us. We just have to connect ourselves to this and unlock crazy amounts of supernatural powers like Jesus or Buddha or Moses, who all can walk over water and resurrect the dead. When we die, our ego dissolves into the collective unconscious and is reborn with repressed universal memories. We can remember our past lives with meditation and overcome the ego. Thus, Jung was very prophetic - right now, with enough effort and meditation, all humans can awake the collective mind and move matter or create entire universes with our minds. That is why I understood from reading Jung.

  • @humannature698

Jung believed in the supernatural but I don't think he went that far, That's being said what I've read from him was mainly focused on psychology and his theory, and it's only until few days ago that I started reading a book of him where he is dealing with the supernatural, I don't know if in this book he will go to a conclusion similar to yours, but till now he seems far from it. If you recall passages or pages from a certain work of him where he talks about what you just described it would be cool if you can share them.

Does Jung anywhere talks of the 'higher self' instead of just self? I find it helpful for my own understanding to think of Jungian self as the higher spiritual self as opposed to ego which would be the lower self. But I could be completely off here since , as in this clip, he clearly means "self" to encompass the ego itself rather than something separate from it.

  • @humannature698

After looking into the self for long id say what people are trying to explain is that words don't define one as much as the definition. The self doesn't say much about one. You can define it but it may leave out every other definition thats true as well. Like I am my cousins cousin. With the right context you can know who I am. That definition though can be any of the cousins of mine that are cousins as well. I am my name, my personality, what makes me up. Even me saying this is only vague cause it doesn't say whether specifically I am a certain race, culture, likes and dislikes. As you can see this can go even further lmao but still id probably be leaving things out.
