@@elonever.2.071 Except the identity ideal of the west is to be authentic, which means, to fulfill the predominant societal ideal you are expected to be authentic. In other words, to be perfect in the our modern identity paradigm is to be authentic, because that's what people approve of and praise. (Point is, even authenticity is an ideal imposed on us which stresses people out over whether they're conforming to non-conformity enough). You can't get identity perfect (even authenticity), and identity is always social.

Made the same mistake in my mis-spent youth. Trying to fit in with the wrong crowd....bla....bla...... Learned my lesson before it was too late. Life got better, after establishing my second group of "friends." It got even better than that, when I moved on to my current group. They're mostly my wife's friends. Only two of them are mine. But still. Now I am safer, and more content with my new circle. Moral of the story ? Never be afraid to start over. You might emerge from it, a bigger happier person than you thought possible.

It's probably a bit like saying, that if you're on a bus traveling, and you need to get off the bus, and you don't, you won't meet the bus for the next ride. But, there are people that make the mistake by getting off the bus when need to, by catching the wrong bus that comes around. There are people who let go to marry a few times to probably find Mr and Miss right, an individual would probably be very old then. I never have been married, but I'm now taking care of my old man; honour your mother and father and you may live long in the land. Probably, everything said here, relates to the sacred book, knowing the sacred book's inspirational and not everyone agrees. We're all in that book to, and when people die, outch! Not everyone gets a chance to stay for eternity in paradise. If it's not inspirational, then I believe in a lie, I'm deceived; for all bondage is ultimately rooted in deception, which is the breeding ground that brings confusion and destruction; the sacred book is like a GPS, follow that. I'm still single and never married; and in my 20's, if I knew what it meant to be a virgin, I'd probably be a virgin to this very day; and In this generation, as a man, I'd probably make the smart move to stay that way also, I don't want any diseases in my room. It's probably easier for a bloke than a woman, for she'd probably want kid's of her own; well, she's probably not gonna get any from me; I can really discover my potential for I'd be single. Also, never trust your heart, the heart can be wicked and deceiving; this is why, everyone gets themselves into trouble, they're life's lessons. Trust the sacred book, and not the heart; that's our GPS to find our way around, and that way people don't get deceived by the heart. Just make sure it has John 3:15, there's no way anyone can get that wrong, get that wrong and it's deliberate failure.

@@hadriusreznor3247 Huh, good question! I'd say all of the above, death in my family, cancer, love, heartbreak, lots of failed relationships, I just felt drifting through the wind and felt really lost in this world. At some point last year, I touched the bottom of the barrel and I started a journey to better myself. About one month ago, after another failed relationship, I just said "you know what, fk it, I'm gonna do me" and started lifting weights, cardio (I was kind of a skinny fat guy), reading to become financially literate, reading philosophy for the mind (what's a good healthy body if your mind isn't well itself eh?). I did an introspection and began to focus on my goals, stopped chasing women and trying to please them just because I wanted to feel loved, some people are justt meant to be alone until they reach their goals (and I think I'm one of them). Who's gonna love me if I don't even love myself? That's about it, in 2023, I'm doing me, I finally feel like I'm renewing with myself but I'm not done on my journey, it's only the beginning, I feel good mentally, I wake up grateful to be alive, I'm happy again, sure I'm not where I want to be but at the end of the day, I still got plenty in my life to be grateful about. But the most important thing I'm grateful about is that switch of mindset, after listening to all these stoics and reading a few self improvement books, I realized how important the mind is and I'm trying to have a different approach with life in general.

@@Lou41038 "Knowing" doesn't necessarely mean knowledge, this reminds me of a quote from Nikola Tesla: “But instinct is something which transcends knowledge. We have, undoubtedly, certain finer fibers that enable us to perceive truths when logical deduction, or any other willful effort of the brain, is futile.” When you have these "Finer Fibers" you start seeing patterns, trends and where things might be going on the long run. Most people do or mimick what others do, that's herd mentality, decisions mostly based on instant gratification. If you connect the dots and think long term, majority of the world won't understand you, even the closest people to you, and while most of the time you will be right about a lot of things, it doesn't necessarely bring you any satisfaction because you end up alone. It is a very dark and lonely path.

"Every human life contains a potential, if that potential is not fulfilled, then that life was wasted"! Very deep and harsh words..but ultimately true. Life is a gift and we have to be brave and pursue ours dreams. It's our responsibility to do good and positive things and to use the life we have been given and not waste it. Always treat people kindly and if others do not do the same, don't waste your time on them..remove them from your life and surround yourself with as many wholesome and positive people as you possibly can. Positivity breeds positivity and you cannot achieve things in life without having a positive outlook. Go forth and become what your potential wants you to be! Finally, "Don't hold onto the one who's leaving, otherwise you won't meet the one who's coming"! I just love this philosophy..it will keep me going through these sour times I am experiencing right now...God bless all of us! 🤗

Just live. That's your potential. Live is not CVs. Life is. So are you. Just go with it as you are part of it. Life has no finishing line that makes it a win or loss but is lived every day.
