"Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference." Man, that hits so dang hard. No specific reason even, it just does.

And the funny thing is that the quote is 100% true. If you stand in front of an angry dragon, people will think you’re brave whether your legs are trembling or not. My mom maintains that I’m the strongest person she knows, but she doesnt know how much courage it takes to face this world with an unwavering face.

There’s a reason for everything. You’re just too lazy to look and work through it to find the ACTUAL reason. I can almost guarantee it hits you so hard because of your own personal experience with fear and facing it. Whatever you face and the way you deal with it gets stored in your subconscious mind which in turn affects how you feel about certain things. Get to the root of your feelings and you can find out why. Try asking yourself why about every question and answer it honestly until you get closer and closer to the root cause. For example: Ask yourself, “Why does this quote hit me so dang hard?” Then you might answer, “Idk.. maybe because I just like what it says about bravery and how true it seems to me?” Then the next question might be, “Well why do I like what it says about bravery and why do I think it seems to be true?” And so on and so on, each question backtracking the web of the neural network in your brain getting to the root cause of what’s running your perspectives and behaviors.

It's modernised, much like our world vs 1000 years ago when people were certainly more prone to violence than now. But that's also because our understanding of the world has changed and grown. The core aspects of our nature haven't changed though, more or less.

4:49 "While getting ready to do something - never talk about it. If you fail people will laugh." - Pittacus When I was preparing to enlist in the Army, I kept asking my mom to not tell people, but she would talk about it anyway behind my back, or try to prompt me at social gatherings to talk about it myself, and I would cave in and talk about it. I dropped out of basic combat training for my mos and the fact that so many people knew just made it all the worse. To me, at least, I had created false expectations from my family and friends, and it still troubles me to this day. I try to tell myself that at least I was someone who was willing to serve, and that it was a good experience.

You aren't a disappointment just because you didn't complete basic, you still took the oath and joined which is more than most people do. If you really want it, just try to get a entry level separation waiver and go back in.

Plato's advice on what woman to choose. Goes for both genders obviously. It's basically all about choosing people who do not NEED validation/attention from others and are actually OKAY with themselves..before entering any kind of relationship. This is 1000% gold advice and it could actually save so many marriages. People marry for all kinds of wrong reasons. They think marriage is a kind of validation/approval settlement that will get them someone who will worship their needs and affirm their egos. Then they end up ruining those marriages and even families when they don't get what they expected. Lots of immaturity and selfishness from both men and women. Marriage is and SHOULD be a lifetime commitment, not a 'fling'.

These quotes kind of prove that life’s sweet spot is always living a slightly strained life where challenge is presented regularly and many times with overwhelm to keep that sword of your mind sharp, but not so much overwhelm that life loses its quality and meaning because both hardship and happiness matter. One keeps you sharp, the other keeps you human. Life seems to be about polarity and the wisdom is striking that sweet balance between the two in EVERY field. And greatness is simply pushing the boundaries of that “balance.” But remember, that balance isn’t always 50% and that’s where the work begins.

Try to get up early to watch the sunrise.. I think it will greatly help with any mental health difficulties you may be having. Will change your perspective on life.. When you are feeling better push yourself into working on your physical health and fitness, whether that be going for long walks, jogging or pushing weights in the gym.. Will be difficult at first but it's only difficult until you take that first step.. Once you take the first step by moving forward with one leg, the rest of your body will follow.. Most importantly you have to do it for yourself, no one else can do it for you.. There is no quick fix so you will have to persist

I see people trying too hard to hide their misfortunes so they're "enemies" won't be happy. I realised you lose nothing by embracing your reality, there's more peace in not caring about what your "enemies" think. You don't have to keep hiding yourself like an idiot. "take things by pursuasion, not by force"; pursuasion actually makes people suspicious. This statement's validity depends on the context.
