Why did the witches think Bell's father being in a mental institution would keep the prince cursed . And what to other guys who died in Castle. One was eaten

I don’t think this book is accurate, I think the Enchantress planned the entire spell out from start to finish. Think about it, the Beast was on his way to becoming an evil tyrant, Belle was the one that turned him into a kinder and gentler ruler. The spell the Beast was under lasted exactly long enough for Belle to break the spell down to the second and the transformation from Beast to man was also just in time to return him to his human form without the stab wound saving his life… doesn’t that seem oddly “convenient”? Not if the Enchantress was precognitive and made the spell work that way by design… The whole thing was a blessing disguised as a curse.

According to the song, the Prince was cursed when he was an eleven-year-old kid. So he and Gaston couldn't have been friends who went to the tavern together or any of that. The new stories written based off these tales are just fanfiction with no understanding of the source material. But, the idea of a witch cursing the Prince checks out, since the curse was on a child as well as castle staffers who had nothing to do with the kid turning away a complete stranger at the door.

Lumière probably lost track of time during the curse. In the sequel An Enchanted Christmas flashback, Prince Adam should be a 16-17 -years-old boy.

Given for the certain events that had played out for of Gaston's betrayal and literary & figuratively stabbing in the prince's back for the exposure of Circe's life to the prince, the her humiliation and finally having the prince turn into a monstrous beast. And as for the type of a spell that The Odd Sisters place upon Gaston, he aware about either the curse or the influence spell, Gaston wasn't being aware on either of those and never realizes for the consequences of his own actions that cost his friendship and haven't seen the prince's face when the prince have transformed into ferocious beast while also giving of Gaston's occupation as the town best hunter for hunting down the most fiercest beast he ever hunted. The Prince would may have figured that Gaston would mistaken the prince as a beast where he was fully transformed in physical appearance of a dangerous beast and would died at the hands of his former friend and the spell would may stop working just like how it happen when Geralt killed a Cruse Prince as a giant monstrous frog. Even if Gaston did would know about the curse, I'm very certain that everyone had seen the 2004 film called The Butterfly Effect and it sounded theory.

So he or Gaston were engaged at the age of 11 or so? Let’s not pretend that according to MATH that would had been their ages. So Belle at the time would have also been a preteen, not a “woman”

Hi great Disney video The Beast and Gaston binning best friend is something I didn't consider or expect But the love triangle between Belle Beast and Gaston going all the way back to when the Beast was human was also very interesting Seriously way can't Disney make movies out of some of these storeys Because this is very creative And interesting

Yeeeeeeaah I’m gonna have to say NO on this one. It’s just fam fiction at the end of the day. The author was also majorly biased against the beast, like she watched an entirely different movie than the rest of us.

Yessssss thank you. I also don't like the copout explanation offered that Circe and her sorceress sisters/family were responsible for the terrible decisions that Gaston made, not least of which was putting Belle's father into an asylum and killing the Beast without understanding he had never raised a hand against them to hurt anyone in the village. Gaston deserved his sentence for the crimes he almost committed. I'm not about to agree with a view that he gets away with putting innocents behind bars.

Gaston was a great villain. It is strange how the more the movie goes on the more bags he has under his eyes like he has not been sleeping. He is obsessed with Belle. The only thing I didn't like about him is he never came across as a threat to the Beast. But it is cleaver to have the Beast sad that he doesn't care. But when he sees Belle and the beast gets mad, He never seems like a threat anymore. Except when the beast turns away from him.

Alright I'm by the only one that feels like these books make no sense whatsoever maybe that's just me like I can maybe understand above the original and the actual live-action films and even the fairy tale story confirm this okay I'll be fine with that but the Vibes of this is just going off of somebody's who just made up whatever they feel was Canon to the storyline of Beauty and the Beast and maybe some other Disney films and fairy tales maybe that's just me but I feel like none of this really makes any sense that especially if any of those characters are shown to have no reaction to knowing each other whatsoever

@@mysticc6232 The stories are ridiculous? I foubt you actually read the books. The author investigates each of the source materials of the classics (not only the Disney versions). She is working harder many writters with her investigations and clever plots abd writting and you just say it's 'Bad' in a second.

This also lets one think of how potent Stockholm syndrome is. Belle despised Gaston, but fell in love with someone who is exactly the same, just because she tried to get the good side out of Beast.

Ok so Stockholm Syndrome is show compasión for your captor. Not falling in love. The media often twists it to falling in love with them when it’s feelings compassion and believing they’re good people despite them repeatedly proving otherwise, which more often than not doesn’t actually involve them falling in love as many victims who claimed to be in love will say after getting help and getting out of the situation they weren’t in love, they felt bad for them and tried to grasp on the the very few times that they were kind to them. If you pay attention Belle only calls Beast a friend until right as he’s dying and proves how much he’s truly changed. Second Beast was the one who started trying to get on her good side first. She was just trying to make the best of her time there, not actively trying to get to know him until he started to change first. Once he’s shown he has changed and really is a good person is when she falls in love with him, so yes she did have Stockholm Syndrome in a sense. She felt compassion and sympathy for the beast, but it was earned unlike most cases of Stockholm Syndrome. Especially since again unlike most cases of Stockholm Syndrome, the Beast actively tried to change for her and to be a better person.

I've would have liked to see them as mates before the beast transformation. How different and more in depth the landscape of the story would have been.

Of course blame the woman for getting in between two friends when it's not like she was with one of them and then got with the other like what this makes no logical sense 😂😂😂😂

I don't see these kinds of books as cannon to the movie.

I have always noticed that the Beast in the beginning was very similar to Gaston. What if it was Gaston who changed? Would Belle of chosen him?

after hearing all of this I can say that this makes sense and there is even some proof in the movie itself that the Beast and Gaston are indeed friends. One of the strongest proofs is when Beast hangs Gaston over the ledge of one of the towers of his castle while he screams for dear life! I don’t think it was Belle telling him to stop from killing Gaston or Gaston pleading for his life that stoped him if you look at Beast’s face behavior you can clearly see something snapped in Beasts mind probably a memory of sorts from his childhood. That maybe also why Beast just told him to get out and let Gaston go instead of having a far terrifying punishment for him like putting Gaston into his dungeon and let him rot for the rest of his life.

Gaston is let go because Belle pleads with him to remember that he's a changed man and is above the beastly instincts. So the Beast lets go of Gaston for this reason, showing him mercy, rather than letting him go because of a memory. Unless it's the memory of his humanity, that he was once human, and not always a beast.

I don't think Gaston was meant to be poor originally. In fact, I've found from an earlier version of Beauty and the Beast, Gaston was an aristocrat that Belle's aunt wanted her to marry, but that Belle wasn't keen on. The aunt character was later removed and Gaston was made a hunter and likely a war hero (he was in the live action for sure). However, I don't even think in the film version that he was exactly just a peasant. He had enough money to bribe the insane asylum guy to commit Maurice. If Gaston was a member of the upper class originally, though, him and the Prince being friends doesn't sound that crazy. However, according to Beauty and the Beast the Enchanted Christmas, the prince seemed close, in some way, at least post-transformation, to one of his servants, Forte.

And I believe Belle was younger than the Beast/Prince Adam and Gaston, and she wasn't even living in the village at the same time as the supposed events of their friendship occurred. Not supported.

But are Valentino's books semi-canon or non- canon?
