Easier this week, Dexter Taylor was sentenced to ten years in prison for building and owning an "arsenal" of weapons. In reality, he was just a man who liked building guns as a hobby, just like many other people do. Unfortunately, he happened to be in New York, where the judge in his case literally said the Second Amendment doesn't exist. This is a sad state of affairs and a dangerous precedent in this country. And in the mean time? This innocent man has to try and survive in prison along with all the murders, rapists etc., long enough to win that appeal. As Sawtooth said below. "How long will that take?". How much time will his daughter not be able to spend real time with her father? You cannot reimburse time lost. It's gone; forever.

I absolutely agree with you. This is appalling and is completely unjust. I think one thing we can do is spread this story across the country. Also, when Trump gets back in office, we need to somehow get word to him to grant a full pardon for Dexter Taylor!

That would be a really happy ending to this story if he got a Pardon from Trump getting re-elected.
I agree 100%. This case is simply another reason for me to never want to move to any state that restricts my constitutional rights. I’m helping a friend that is an 07 FFL with an SOT with inventory on her firearms at a small shop she runs that was originally ran and operated by her late husband. She told me that her husband grew up in New York but left the state in the early 80s when he was 18 or 19 because of the gun laws in the state even back then. Apparently he visited Georgia on one trip and saw how free it was for people to simply buy and acquire firearms and was convinced to get out of New York. After moving to Georgia, he acquired his FFL and started the business inside his house.

Good for him! I have lots of family in Washington state and it's crazy to me what they have to put up with. I feel like I'm practically in a different country right next door in Idaho, when it comes to gun laws.
You are correct, this is an absolute travesty in every way. Yes, he will easily win on appeal, but it is still ridiculous that he has to spend one night in jail, much less prison. That judge should be disbarred and removed somehow. I am so glad I live where I do, I wish it was as beautiful as Idaho though, I am jealous of that.👍

Good Lord, I build my own ARs as a hobby, and have as many guns as him. Thank God I live in the Free United States.

Right? That's me, too...
So what protects this man’s rights? Asking for his sake because this happened to me. Who do we call when the police confiscate our firearms and make us litigate to get them back? Seriously, had about 30 arms taken for non criminal offenses and was made to spend thousands of dollars towards litigation to try and retrieve them.. I have my gun rights but all my firearms were confiscated. Who helps us?

Get ahold of Gun Owners of America, the Firearms Policy Coalition, the Second Amendment Foundation, and others like that. They do help people who have had to go through what you did. That's just not right!
