I had two rapid force holsters before you got one. I love them. People told me I was a weirdo for using something other than the “way we’ve always done it” safariland. Then you got one and put those videos out and the same people came back and started asking me about how I liked it and if they should get one all because they saw you using it. Basically, I’m a hipster.

Lmao I had a similar thing happen. I was looking at getting the rapid force and all my buddies were telling me it's trash and to get Safariland. Then one of them went out and got the Rapid Force and was then trying to basically tell me how so much better it was and how it's way better than a safariland 😂

I purchased this holster based on an earlier video you made about it. I just recently received mine as there was a 21 day wait but it finally arrived a little over a week ago. I have big hands so I had to swap to the smallest levers but once I got everything form fitted to me I’ve began to use it. So far (after getting use to the release method) I do really enjoy the holster and feel that it is very rigid and durable and it definitely has the easiest to use release to get use to. I’m still new to the holster but am putting in the time to become efficient with it. I believe in my humble opinion this holster is the standard for level 3 holsters. Thanks for the recommendation

I beat the crowd by calling Safariland directly and talking to a human... Running a DS 1911 there was *NO WAY IN HELL* I was going to figure out what would or would not fit. I don't know if the Gods just favored me that day or if Safariland Customer Service has improved that much, but I got exactly what I wanted in a very short time... Considering that I am a left handed shooter carrying a gun on duty that few, if any, agencies carry I felt very fortunate...the only time they have been faster than that was when I needed a holster *RIGHT NOW* for a speed-ball deployment and they sent me a 6004 rig for a my issue Beretta in less than seven days... May the Gods smile down on you as well should you choose that option.

I ran a safariland 6360 and the 6360 rds for years. I added a Nub from Oregon Trail Defense on the ALS lock. The optic dust cover on mine kept coming off getting in and out of a vehicle, up and down from a desk chair etc. I haven't started running this holster on duty yet but so far I am so much faster on my draw. In the first 2 range sessions using it, I was already finding it more intuitive to draw than the 6360. I was a die hard Safariland guy forever, but I'm quickly becoming a believer in this holster system.

biggest gripes with the holster is the grab guard, the overall bulk i think could be slimmad and rounded more and the trigger gap on light models, however i run it anyways and I cant wait till they beat the gap problem. after that i believe it will start taking over Safariland as they slowly perfect the design, it is an absolutelt great duty holster and its cut a half second sometimes more off my draw tö first shot while still maintaining strong retention. love it.

The problem is I don't know what half the friggin attachments are that they ask you about at checkout when you go to the respective companies websites(especially safariland). I also am planning on getting my first serious gun belt and for that I'm most likely going to get the new Trex arms belt because again I don't know very much about gear but I want to train more seriously.

Straight to straight comparison between Safariland level 3 retention Duty holster vs Rapid Force Duty Holster they’re literally the same price. I spec’ed them out for a G17 with RDS and TLR1HL and it was the same cost. However, No cordura option for the Rapid Force but there is for Safariland except it cost $66 more with them. No biggie you can do it yourself after on either option. The big difference is the only other light from experience that would work with the Glock 17 or 19 running a TLR1HL mold would be the Olight Pro Valkyrie on this setup with Safariland. With Rapid Force their mold is universal with a lot of various lights. Both holsters work but both have pros and cons. If you want a holster that is more compatible with more light options I’d say Rapid Force is best. If you’re running a Streamlight now for whatever reason and then later upgrade to an x300 you can do it, it’s compatible with multiple WML’s. If you try that with Safariland it won’t work, you’ll need a new holster so another $200+. If you want a Long track record for a holster that will get the job done knowing you will not run into problems because it’s more familiar or because you fear you may be disappointed with a new company thats still trying to perfect their holsters, then just run the Safariland.

I was able to get all 3 bolts mounted on the AG through the QLS fork but had to do some mods which included washers. It’s solid. Where I ran into issues the the true north mount. It’s straight unlike the AG and SL mounts which angle the top of the holster out. To get the can’t and enough spacing to run the release buttons I ended up with only 2 bolts mounting the QLS receiver to the true north mount. If you want to see pictures message me..

I would like to see a DT session with all these holsters that seem to auto-open the hood with the same button as the retention release. I am personally curious, cause duty belt grabs happen all too often when you get into a scrap. I think that is why many agencies will not sign off on their officers carrying this. It’s not just about how fast you can get out of the holster, its about how well that holster keeps your weapon secured when the fight comes to you.

  • @milspec_mojo

    @milspec_mojo

Completely agree brother! So this thing may seem like an auto open and I also still somewhat think it is but in the testing we’ve done so far it’s not like an automatic snap similar to the G code or the Blackhawk series of holster. It’s inertia driven so the faster I drive my thumb down the faster the bell releases and to that extent very similar to the Safariland. The faster I swept the self locking system on the safariland the faster the holster came out. Weapon retention is a huge thing and again like I was talking about in the video dudes were straight up just laying on the holsters or putting stress on the Safarilands end it was causing catastrophic failure to the point where you couldn’t get the gun out or now there was a big crack down the center. Right now my top two options are definitely the rapid force and the Safariland because of the safety aspect along with the speed of being able to get the gun out quickly. The testing we’ve conducted so far during defensive tactics training obviously was done in a controlled environment with Safarilands and with rapid forces and let’s be real here if you get somebody that knows what they’re doing or has touched one of these in their life they will be able to get the gun out during the struggle. I think at that point if we start digging down this rabbit hole we’re gonna have to start talking about officer awareness and preventative measures.

@@milspec_mojo I'm just a civilian but from watching body cam footage I think every single patrol cop should be required to study jiujitsu. I have seen so many officer involved fights online and most of those go to the ground where grappling skills are absolutely necessary. We just had a very prominent case of this happening in a city near me called Grand Rapids Michigan and unfortunately the officer had to go to his gun and shot the individual he was fighting named Patrick Lyoya who was drunk and belligerent and who reached for the officers taser. The case has made national news and unfortunately his agency hasn't stood by him and has instead charged him with 2nd degree murder.

Still giving it a shot. Have it for my P320 and my Glock holster should be in soon. I like the function of it for the P320 so far, pretty intuitive, have to mildly get used to it compared to the Safariland that I’ve been running forever. Not a fan of being able to get my finger on the trigger while in the holster though. We’ll see how the Glock fares because that’s my duty and the P320 is just something I run when teaching from time to time. Going to see if my tourniquet bracket (got that idea from you, sir!) or possibly the RDS version will be able to fit on there. I have the adapter to run the QLS fork so we’ll see. Definitely looks promising!

Check out the lakeline 1/2x28 thread on comp...like the griffin but the port is only one big one across the top and is just as small/streamline. I like it better. It fits in the rapid force too. Also 1/3 of the price.

Hey Mojo I think this holster is one of the best holster I have ever used or seen but I have only one issue with it , I do understand having a open bottom but I would like to have a closed light area to protect the light from debris hitting it and damaging the light , I will reach out to Alien gear .

My biggest issue with Safariland has always been the trigger issue. A deputy was literally shot in the leg with his own gun because of this. My Dara holster doesn’t do it and if Alien Gear fixes this issue I’ll definitely pick one up.

I’ve had a tough time finding the right holster for my glocks from Safariland. Alien Gear would be the clear option if they worked with the UBL and QLS system better. Might just go with Alien Gear anyways.

I finally lost my months long battle with the aesthetics of this holster, and bought one shortly after watching this video. Aside from the royal pain it was to fit their QDS onto my Wilder Tactical Multi Holster Platform the holster seems like it’s very good quality. I may never get the chance to actually use it though because it apparently may not be as compatible with the Modlight PL-350 as they claim. Everything goes in and comes out just fine, however, Approximately 1/4 of an inch of the bezel of my light sticks out the end of the holster and is definitely no Bueno for duty use. Received an automated email back from alien gear when I inquired if that is the proper fitment or not stating it will be 7 to 10 business days before they get back to me guess we’ll see.

I've been using mine with a PL350 on duty for over a year now. Aside from some cosmetic wear to the rim of my bezel, it hasn't been an issue.

@@Azorian36 im on pace to go through one of those Portal XLs every year at this point just from the holster constantly smacking the stupid center consoles my PD puts in their cars. Wish I could drop pics in here for you. Bought my newest portal after I posted my comment when I sent back my Rapid Force. There’s already a gouge in the rim of the portal I had to grind down smooth with a drummel cause it was sharp lol. Aside from putting the holster in a high ride position I’ve tried everything to keep it off that damn center console. My roads are just too bumpy

How is the thumb placement for the release? I had a dara that I had to get rid of because the release was set too far back and I had to release it then adjust my grip. I like the safariland, tier 1 centurion and even the Blackhawk l2 series because of where the thumb release is because I can release it with a nice, high grip

Well I personally have not tried this holster currently I am running a level 2 holster by Dara Holsters for my Walther PDP Pro SD Compact 4.6" with ZR tactical solutions compensator no issues whatsoever reasons why I went with Dara holster they had everything I needed did not have to go to 10 different sites was 1 shop and received very quickly. Not saying this is the end all to be all but has dramatically helped me it's very comfortable my best purchase of a holster battle belt rig and holster set-up. Hope this helps. Be safe and be aware of who's around you.

I can see the benefits of the improved draw from the holster, but in your experience how is the weapon retention security? Part of the push forward and rock back of safariland makes it harder for a suspect to take a weapon from the holster.

Quick question (might have missed it if it was mentioned): Is it QLS compatible? Would make it easier too swap between belt setups, comp/duty/training if you also need too run guns that is not rapidforce compatible. Or have fixed dropdown platforms like thetruenorth/DAA/etc.
