The Real Reason Why McDonald's SuperSized Menu Disappeared

Ойын-сауық

Anyone who saw the documentary Super Size Me probably thought twice about eating fast food for a while, and a lot of people probably assume that the documentary’s popularity led McDonald’s to do away with their infamous supersize for good. The company claims that the documentary didn’t play a part in their elimination of the size, but even if they’re not being completely honest, it’s clear that Morgan Spurlock’s film was not the only reason McDonald’s axed it. From the attempts at a healthier menu to the truth about the current sizes, let’s take a look at the real reason why McDonald’s supersized menu disappeared.

I agree with this so much. Why should everyone have to suffer, because a small minority can't take responsibility for themselves. Take me for example, I'm 5'10", and 180lbs. I'm a little overweight. But it's entirely my fault... I don't do any excersize, drive everywhere, eat too much junk food, etc. It's not anyone elses fault, so why should anyone else suffer?

While I agree people make life choices and their meals is part of those choices, it's probably because mcdonald's is so cheap compared to everything else. If you go to Japan or Korea, food over there is just a couple dollars cheap, and it's healthy.

That is (No Joke) enough for 5-6 dinner meals. There is NO WAY IN HELL, you can do that at McDonald’s. Or anywhere else. Don’t blame a company for poor decisions mate.

The movie exaggerated the issue of people being overweight by the guy eating every meal, and even snacks, only at fast food restaurants like McDonald's, and always ordering the largest size available. Funny thing is, people are eating "healthier", but there are more people who are overweight now, and less eating at fast food restaurants, than 20 years ago.

Troy Ruddock I agree I think when people had the choice of supersize vs large would make people think twice if they should get it or not and be cautious about there choices but after they tried the salad healthy options it just made things worse making people believe that McDonald’s is healthier than it was but it’s still fast food then the dollar menu came and people could still buy a lot of items that are just as bad as supersizing. It’s all bs what McDonald’s did . I don’t even go there anymore the employees are lazy and want more money in their paychecks they don’t even deserve for little work. No thanks to Morgan sperlock in the supersize movie and New York City being to close with every McDonald’s on a radius of a corner to walk to 😒

People mentioning Super Size Me, you should know that documentary makes some dubious claims. Morgan Spurlock probably didn't consume as many calories as he said he did. And he didn't make the log of the food he ate public, so no one can verify his calorie count. Not trying to defend McDonald's, but I'm not for misinformation either. Edit: Actually, I misstated this (ironically, given my last sentence, I know). Morgan Spurlock probably did eat as much as he said he did, which was about 5000 calories a day. The point is he probably had to break his rules to do it, and someone who did stick with his rules would eat considerably less and gain less weight. Just watch this to get a better explanation than mine: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dZeYyNyqYrCXdcY.html.

So are you saying that he ownly ate a little bit of the food during the month, and then throw the rest away, that would be a waste of money as what else would he eat, as he was only going to eat McDonalds for 30 days straight. The only food that I will imagine that he did throw away I would think the Quarter Pounder with cheese meal, which was on day #2 which he was first offered Super Size Me option, and then Fish Sandwich that he got later on, that he showed on camera and seen in the film on how nasty as it looked, as the mayo looked like it was spoiled, and that it was sitting out all day. What was he supposed to do what the rest of the food, give it to his then girlfriend who now is his ex wife. Morgon Sporlock didn't included every single meal that he hate in the film for the 30 days, as if he did it would have been longer then its 1 hour and 40 minute running time. Another one of the rules that he had he had rot eat all 3 square meals a day with no excuses, which meant breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

When I worked for Wendy's, whose drinks are generally about 8 ounces bigger than McD's for the same size it really was way more rare for someone to order the largest sizes. Usually we only sold triples and large drinks and sides when super hungry construction crews would come through or, interestingly, Mennonites. Ocaisionally people would come through just for large drinks but not meals. (Wendy's large is 40 ounces, the medium is thirty so our medium is closer to McD's large)

There was an even bigger option before? The size of the fries and drink in a regular meal from McDonald’s in America is the same as a Large in Europe and the only fast food chain in Europe that offers a meal the same size as a large in America is Burger King. They have a supersize option but despite the name it’s the same size as a large in America, nobody buys this meal as it’s seen as gluttonous. It’s crazy to think a meal that huge is only seen as a large in America

It was because of Morgan Spurlock! The government started focusing on health after that movie they were going to outlaw all large sodas! Then they said people are going to drink how much they want anyway so just forget it. All of a sudden the schools lunches were revolved around health when it was just pizza and burgers before

Another example of a big corporation not telling us the truth because they know damn-well that doing so would be confessing that they engaged in some shady actions... like selling food they know to be unhealthy in staggering quantities. They made the change due to public pressure, period.
