Thank your for the rational analysis when confrontation with China has become a form of political correctness. I was born and raised in China, lived in the US for a good number of years, and I am currently back in China, working for a government-owned investment firm specialized in overseas investments. I remember the days in the 2000s and the first half of the 2010s, when most people in both countries general felt positive about each other, when economic collaborations and cultural exchanges were welcome, and when both countries and their people largely benefitted from trade. Since when did antagonism replace cooperation and become the defining principal of China-US relations? Media in the US is portraying China as the ultimate villain and the archememy of the US because of its "authoritarian regime" and so on, which has fueled fear and animosity towards China among most general Americans, although most of whom have not ever been to China or talked to anyone from China. Likewise, Chinese state media is doing the exact opposite, fueling hostility towards the US among most Chinese people. Actually if you guys have ever been to China, you will notice that the Chinese people are very pragmatic. We don't care that much about ideology, and we just mind our own business and work extremely hard for it to achieve a better life. And that is why this seemingly authoritarian regime has generally been supported, because imperfect as it is, it really excelled at growing the economy and improving the quality of life in the past decades. True, it might be an "authoritarian" regime by standards of the West, and many of the typical features of a "Western democracy"might be missing here, but the way Chinese people live, work, and do business here is really not that different. We are all reasonable human beings with a lot of common interests to pursue with our Western counterparts, like we have always been. In my job I work with business professionals from the US and Europe on a daily basis, and despite all the political tension in recent years, both sides have displayed a tremendous amount of professionalism and respect and just focus on getting the job done. Cooperation like this should have been the main them of the relations between China and the US (and the West at large). I still hope these days of mutual hatred can eventually end (although the end is nowhere in sight), and both sides can benefit from a normalized relationship again.

Once you understand this, everything falls into place. Why there are so many conflicts and wars throughout the world. Note who are always involved in such conflicts/wars? At one meeting held in China, the American side told the Chines diplomats that if China accepts US as the hegemon and follow its wishes, there will be no more problems for China. This was reported by the Chinese side. So wake up my Chinese Americano.

it is easy for China to transfer into the US style, that runs on financial businesses mostly. But China would not do that, cuz the great Chairman Mao said, we must plant our focus on industrial and infrastracture area, that's the only way that coule let the most of the people in this country take a part of the country's development, and make benifits from it. But in order to catch up with the world, China has take a "short cut" for the last few decades, that is very close to the US way, there were many rich guys pop out these years. But even though, the real goal was always to "let a few people get rich first, then these rich people would help the others get rich, and reach common prosperity eventually". So as everyone could see, China is trying to make a change now, 1st they cant play low profile anymore since many countries has put China in the "threat" list, 2nd the Gini index of China right now is even higher than the US. It is time to say good bye to the US way, and get back to the Chinese way or Mao's way. That's why you could see China could dare stand against the west straightly and no more compromises these years. Plus China has become the world's factory for a long time, almost no country could survive without MIC(made in china) products. So when you transfer most of your industrial to lower-labor cost countries, and runs the country highly depends on financial businesses, just like the US did, how could you win a trade war against China? After all these years' watching the world's leaders policy, I would say none could ever get close to China's leaders, especially on the VISION territory.

Very academic and philosophical Cyrus .. sadly the USA has been so dominant in the past that its hegemonic mindset is too ingrained. USA doesn't know the meaning of the word cooperation nor even diplomacy. In American dictionary the definition of those two words are very different from the Oxford dictionary. Cooperation : We work together. You do as I tell you or else there will be consequences. Diplomacy : We are in a position of Power. You better listen and obey our "rules". Stand when we say stand and if we say jump, you ask "how high". Given that mindset, how is it possible for China to actually work with USA. Note the threats against China coming out of the USA almost on a daily basis. The double standards, the hypocrisy... examples and case history of the US on this score will fill an entire encyclopedia.

Without the goods imported from China, the inflation of the US would be out of control. Also, China is the most important growth engine for many American corporations. Apple had announced that China would be the most important market if Apple wanted to keep its high growth rate. However, the interests of those politicians are not the same as most commoners so the Chinese government would not hope the US government acting rationally, not decoupling with China. As a result, Chinese government has already started some contingency plans in fields such as finance, technology, energy, food and resources to avoid or reduce the damage of the US government's sanctions. I believe in terms of preparation for Sino-America decoupling, Chinese government is more well prepared than the US government.

First, China foreign reserves in usd, euro and treasury bonds of both sides of the Atlantic amount to usd7T. Second, China has been selling us treasury since November last year from usd1.2T to current usd1.05T. Japan is also selling more than that amount in that period. Third, China has been repatriating usd and euro to BOC as they start purchasing energy products or other commodities from Russia using yuan. They don’t need to keep so much usd and euro in foreign banks. This is why the deal with Saudi will go through. Fourth, the real reason why usa can’t sanction China is Americans asset in China is also aplenty running into trillions of usd in China. Fifth, in case usa default the treasury bonds or confiscate China’s foreign reserves in foreign banks, China will do likewise and confiscate usd held in China’s bank for payment of Chinese import. Last but not least, China can demand for yuan to be paid for its products from the west. This alone will cause unimaginable terror for usa…a lot worse than what usa is facing with Russia. Inflation will be sky high for the west. The usd as a reserve currency will be challenged further. This is the last thing usa wants. If usa try to plunder Chinese assets held in the west, China will confiscate American assets in China. The west will not be able to stand for this tit for tat. It’s already show in the Russian case study that the west tit can even stand a tenth of Russian tat. The Chinese will not be as gracious as the Russian. A full blown tit for tat will collapse the west civilisation while it will only collapse the Chinese economy which the Chinese has the know how to rebuild with its both consumption and manufacturing base so wide and deep. Can the west? Looking at what is happening with Russia, the west are weakened by the day yet the west wants to prolong this war. By the time it’s over, the west will be so weakened economically or even politically, starting a sanction war with China is not even be a starter. Yes, usa will not start a sanction war with China.

The Obama/Biden, 2016 US/Rand Corp plan “War with China by 2025” will be the US’s 1989 USSR moment where it painted itself into a corner it could not get out of. By 2025 their Ukraine war will amount to a $35 trillion debt and no means to get out of. Unlike 2009 there won’t be no allies or China coming to bail the US out. That will be the economic collapse of the US/dollar combined with an expensive over extended aging military (800 bases) and a deteriorating domestic infrastructure plus a ill prepared populace will leave it incapable to compete in a globalized technological 21st century world. 2025-2030 will be the decline of America

It goes much deeper than that. USA LOVES a war. USA CANNOT work together with China, or indeed anyone. BECAUSE since 1776 it has avoided wars for ONLY 20 years. It HaS been the boss, or wanted to be. But now China, which has FOUR times more people, with memories of being under the western thumb for a hundred years, has changed the worlds prospects for the better. THAT is why you see Africa, Middle East, STH America and now the Solomons become friendly partners with China. USA ONLY knows how to be a bad Colonial boss. To maintain the dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency, America has created a huge consumption-based market. When a product is purchased in a Walmart in America, the dollar goes to China. To make the product, China needs energy, so the dollar goes to Saudi. Since 1990, Wall Street has grown 30% per year, and this attracts the dollar from Saudi. This is how the dollar circulate in the world. By sanctioning China, America will be cutting this loop. So sanctioning China will just speed up the decline of America.

So it is time for U.S. residents to wake up and be accountable when it is time for them to elect their governmental representatives. It is a "mid-term" election year once again in U.S.A. Those people need to stop blaming others for their miseries and instead hold themselves and their politicians accountable like the message sent by Cyrus' previous video talking about Ted Cruz. Please remember Mr. Albert Einstein's advise to all human beings "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything". U.S. residents are now facing all time inflation, they better invest the time to get to know the real interests in those seeking a political office before casting their votes instead of consuming things (buying unnecessary stuffs) or experiences (traveling during COVID - the world is now facing a 4th and 5th variant of the DELTA form of COVID); otherwise, more pain will come down the road. Good luck! Do not count on those billionaires to come to the rescue, just look at one famous U.S. billionaire who paid only $750 as his federal income tax and his name is Donald. He is trying to get reelected again. WATCH OUT!

Trouble is that the East and South America are refusing to play the game. They created BRICS and ASEAN, which the US is trying to abolish because they trade in their own currencies and the petrodollar is destined to fall probably in the next few months. The loss of the petrodollar and dollar reserve status will be catastrophic for the US. China warned that they would no longer use the dollar as reserve and that they would no longer buy US debt a few years ago.

With their manufacturing base disappeared since 2001 when American conglomerates moved their factories to China and Southeast Asia, the U.S. is now left with only 2% industrial capacity plus 2% of the American workforce engaging in agriculture while finance and service take up the rest. The trade war started by the Trump administration in 2018 and furthered by Joe Biden until now only exacerbated the inflationary pressure in the U.S. and showed the Achilles' heel of the American economy. China's BRI and its Dual Circulation Strategy are meant to wean itself off from over-reliance on the U.S. market alone. All the while, the huge Chinese domestic market with its expanding middle class still remains the magnet to all businesses, including America's own, as shown by a 6% increase in Foreign Direct Investment into China last year (to $149 billion) and a surge of $60 billion in the first quarter of 2022. It is simply wishful thinking that the U.S. can sanction China without hurting itself perhaps even more, considering the fact that Chinese exports to the U.S. only account for less than 30% of total export figures, behind ASEAN and the E.U.

Using Cyrus' figure, GM sold 2.9 million cars to China last year. For comparison, it sold 2.2 million cars in America and Canada. In other words, GM is bigger in China than it is in North America, and it's not even the biggest player in China; VW is, by far. So there is so much room to grow. For starters, Buick is a fast-growing brand in China and seen as true luxury; in America, it is seen as a premium brand, not luxury, a step below Cadillac and Buick, and is stagnating at that. If only Americans would realize this, that American products still have huge appeal to Chinese consumers...but perhaps not in the near future, if our politicians keep blowing up tensions and America-bashing becomes a thing. So Cyrus is right: we have so much more to gain by working together. That the Chinese buy so many American cars is a testimony to his point that if they do well, we do well. Sadly, our politicians don't understand the simple concept of 'a rising tide raises all boats'; they'd rather win brownie points, and fanning the flames of conflict seem to be the sure way to do so.

As always, very insightful information from Cyrus. The US does many things that are self defeating and self destructive, including their ban on Huawei. It may look advantageous to them in the short term but in the medium to long term, it is definitely not good to the US, especially with the current political climate and the whole environment in the US in the trajectory that they are heading. Who needs who more, that is the question. Regardless, when China decouples with the US, the US will have little strategic leverage and advantage over China. As it is, the US is suffering tremendously from the tariffs imposed on China. China is also prepared to let its US treasury reduced to zero value whether it is because the rates go down or the US simply does not want to pay back! The US thinks that it is not in China's interest to dump US treasuries but China has many more advantages over the US, and it has far more tools and weapons in its toolbox or arsenal than the US or the West like to admit. That will result in the downfall of the US...

The reason is the huge difference in wages. The surprising thing is that they are happy moving so many jobs just to China and the government is also happy about it (Trump was all alone on tariffs). There is no shortage of labour. This a shortage of people though who are willing to work for an hourly minimum wage of $7.25 which has been the minimum wage since 2009. Yes there are states that have a minimum wage higher than $7.25 per hour and 4 states that actually exceed $13.99 per hour but 20 of the states just have the bare legislated minimum wage.

I'd be willing to take a min wage job for a brief time if it actually lead me to a career track job, but this isn't the 1960s anymore. Even with a good college degree in a desirable discipline, if you take a min wage job, you'll likely stay there. Unless you have connections, then qualifications don't seem to matter anymore.

NATO countries can't really seperate themselves from Russia either, when the flation from gas and oil skyrocketed for a long time, NATO will do a U-turn. They can make the temporary sacrifice to get the Russia to back off, BUT Russia will ride it out in the end and there will be payback from Russia. Every country in the world needs gas and oil, their threat won't last. There are about 160 countries, G7 is only seven of them.

@@csking6377 Senior was a U.S. puppet who fled the Philippines in 1986 to Hawaii with the assistance of the US. Junior is for friendlier relations with China which is why the US media are currently manufacturing consent against him. Could be because of this: “Marcos has also said he would maintain his nation’s alliance with the U.S., but the relationship is complicated by American backing of the administrations that took power after his father was deposed, and a 2011 U.S. District Court ruling in Hawaii finding him and his mother in contempt of an order to furnish information on assets in connection with a 1995 human rights class action suit against Marcos Sr. The court fined them $353.6 million, which has never been paid and could complicate any potential travel to the U.S.”
