The Real Reason Josh Harris Was Fired From Deadliest Catch
Subscribe for more!
Since he first appeared on the hit show Deadliest Catch in 2007, Josh Harris has been a main player, riding the rough seas alongside his father and captain, Phil Harris. After his father died in 2010 following a stroke he suffered, Josh had big shoes to fill and pressed on as best as he could, receiving his captain’s license in 2013.
Well. Josh seemed to be forging his own path at the helm of the Cornelia Marie. With a team of seasoned fishermen by his side, Josh quickly established himself as one of the standout stars of the hit show "Deadliest Catch." Over the years, he has captivated audiences with his fearless leadership and impressive fishing skills, solidifying his place as one of the most legendary captains in the history of "Deadliest Catch."
Up until the fall of 2022, life seemed to be full of possibilities for Josh. That all changed, however, when the past came to haunt him. Now that the truth is out about a horrifying thing he did when he was younger, everything has changed. No one can guarantee the future, but it’s safe to say that we won’t be seeing Josh anywhere near a reality TV show again. What happened? What could be so awful that a beloved star of one of the most successful reality TV shows would be immediately exiled and banished?
Without further ado, let’s explore the real reason Josh Harris was fired from Deadliest Catch!

Why is Josh no longer on the Cornelia Marie? DEADLIEST Catch star Josh Harris has been fired from the Discovery show after it was discovered he sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl in 1998. Josh, now 39, was arrested and later found guilty of the horrific acts in juvenile court when he was just 16 years old

Actually since he was a juvenile the court records are sealed (or supposed to be). As a Mom of girls and boys I have a kneejerk reaction to this type of crime. That being said, he was a juvenile and kids brains don't even stop growing until way, way later. He served his time. He plead guilty and started a new life. I don't condone what he did, but, he has rights too. Who was it that dug up sealed court records? Discovery treated him bad in my opinion for firing him and yet I get it. Difficult one. I imagine if I were the Mom or Dad of the little girl I'd want to stuff him inside a crab pot and pitch it over into the sea, but from what I heard he has apologized and has been forgiven by the family, so who are we to judge him further?

@Richard Fraser what does the law declare a child. Last I checked it was under the age of 18. I'm sure at 15 to 16 you thought and acted as an adult. Nothing you did was wrong. No regrets. You never acted a fool while driving. You never put folks lives at risk because you were smarter than the others at that age. You never sinned. Ok. Even though you think a child is an adult they are not.

They fired him from the show. Not from being the owner /captain of the boat. I believe all the signed TV contracts. Have moral clauses in them. That gives discovery rights to fire you. For stuff like this. Reason Edgar is not shown on the show anymore. Because of his sex assault case involving a minor. Same reason that morning show. Could get rid of the two hosts. That were cheating on their husband and wife. With someone they worked with. If they were cheating on the husband and wife. With people that did not work with the company. Good chance they would still be on the air.

It's understandable that a child at such an age has been effected by his actions. However, due to her age she likely doesn't even remember it now. And if she does it's because her family/ friends won't let it go. Josh paid the price for the crime and likely got help for it as most minors get treatment for their actions as it is believed their offenses are caused due to some mental lapse. Not saying josh shouldn't have been punished for it. He was and he deserved it. But it's in the past and he has paid the price for it it should be let go and not mentioned again. The fact someone revealed his juvenile record is a federal offense as his record is sealed and no one besides federal level employers are able to access it.

Tihs is what i hate about the prison system. You have these adults go to jail and do there time and that isn't enough. You then go on and make sure they will never land another job due to past crimes and even though they did there time and did what was asked of them. This is why the only thing they can return to is being a criminal. I had a friend in this position who did something as a teenager. Now he's 40 but I met him when he was 38 heard his story know that he now has a family and unable to work. I got his record cleared, only to find out that businesses can still see past criminal records and after him posting for jobs for Google, Microsoft and other big tech companies since he's educated even this couldn't help him. It wasn't until I told him to create his own business and from there seek out jobs was he able to get hired on doing what he loves. He now works and is still a productive member of society. Lets give these folks chance they like all of us slip up but that doesn't mean they should be stuck in a hole for the rest of there life.

And Mandy Hansen is now the “relief skipper” so Discovery never has to show Edgar in the wheelhouse. But I don’t see how they can show the Cornelia with just Casey as the skipper. Especially when Josh sits right next to him, and then can’t do the Bloodlines Josh in Hawaii either. I think Josh is being fired because they can’t hide him, if they could make him invisible but still be on the boat they would. Now don’t get me wrong he’s a scumbag. He sexually assaulted a 4 year old girl. He didn't commit a burglary or rob a bank. What he did was objectfy a little kid to satisfy his own sexual urges. Even his response minimized what he did. And to plea bargain it down to verbal abuse? Give me a break. He's lucky he isn't wearing g an ankle bracelet and registering as a Sex Offender. Adult men seduce adult women....or at least those that are sexually mature and hopefully of a legal age. What he did was take a child, barely our of diapers, and raped her.
