This is so incredibly sad. I loved watching Phil interact with his boys on Deadliest Catch and was devastated to learn about Phil’s passing. I had hope for the boys continuing on with the Cornelia Marie after the proper training. It’s heartbreaking to hear both boys have legal issues, but I never would have anticipated hearing the child molestation accusations for Josh. Thanks for the update ❤

I grew up watching deadliest catch with my mom late at night when my dad worked til midnight, I knew Phil passed away but never actually saw the episode.. when he caught jake taking his pills, and gave him the verbal wrath of god I just sat there in awe.. It was uncomfortable, and unbelievably sad.. then he leaned in and admitted to his dad he had a problem.. he joked about it earlier in the season saying being on the boat was like “sea-hab” and Josh chuckled and said jake had been partying too hard, I thought maybe they were throwing back lots of shots and beers to celebrate their success as young fisherman.. had no idea jake was battling addiction.. I believe Phil went into port early to get jake sent off to treatment, and thats when he had his stroke.. if they had of been at sea, maybe the boys wouldn’t have been able to have those extra few days.. and I can’t imagine how bad jake felt after the huge argument, then seeing his dad go straight into an ambulance. I know phil passing was a gut punch to jake, and Josh was doing his upmost to step up and become the man phil needed him to be. Theres nothing sadder in real TV than “empty throne” and “valhalla” those episodes will stick with me forever.

huh the time i met him at a meet and greet he seemed high or drunk and was coping an attitude with everyone including fans. safe to say after about an hour no one was in line to meet him and he was left there alone

I can't say I understand addiction because I don't. But, I can sadly say I have witnessed what it does to the people that care for that person with an addiction. Jake after seeing you with your cute baby daughter I know you got this bud. If their was ever a reason to get it right she needs you. Stay strong and the best is yet to come .

I'm someone who has struggled with addiction. With opiates and alcohol and it's very hard to beat. You need the right people around you with all the willpower you can summon from within to defeat it. After an extended amount of time, it does get easier. Ive been off alcohol for 18 years and opiates for 15 years. Life threw a little irony at me and now I choose to live with some pain rather than taking opiates again. I manage to do it without rehab or medical assistance but like I said, you need the right people around you.

Good for you!! 2 1/2 months sober from Dilaudids(stronger than morphine and heroine) Cold turkey. It was hell and ended up in Emergency by ambulance a week into it from severe dehydration, fever, kidney infection, couldnt walk. After having a fever for over a month and the week of dark depression, I made it out the other side! I went to hell and back many times. Feel great now! Will power and great addiction therapists helped. Thank God for excellent healthcare in Ontario Canada.

I do. Was a two time state champ in football. Then my best friend flipped his truck ejecting both of us from the vehicle. Ended up having crushing injuries such as a crushed rotary cuff, crushed femur ( it snapped in 3 pieces) broken arm, crushed right hand, fractured skull, collapsed lung, etc.... Woke up two weeks later fully addicted to Dilaudid, oxy, and Percocet. (And yes they were giving me all three and it still barely scratched the surface of the pain I was in. 1 year later I was back working construction for the family whose son wrecked in the 1st place. See I was rushed back to work. 7 years after that, still working construction, to compensate I was taking 4 methidone 10's daily. That was my prescription. I'd buy liquid methidone when mine didn't cut it. You see, to me, the only way I could move like the old me was a wall of opiates. Finally I decided to go on disability because it was killing me. Got off the opiates but then the govt. Decided I was healed. It's not easy in a capitalist society competing with 20 year olds with not one broken limb, and me with a full body tooth ache from arthritis, permanent limp, can't raise my left arm above my head, can barely make a fist...... Toughness? Yeah I'm all of that. They don't pay you for how much you can take though, do they?

It's so sickening - I know what it's like to be that four year old little girl. He's not "embattled" he's just another creepy rapey guy. The picture at 4:06 makes me want throw up. That baby is NOT safe. These guys cannot be rehabilitated and the honest ones will tell you so. The prisons are stuffed with them.
