A problem with modern day business is that consultants are smart dumb - they think they have the answers because of their education. Their clients are dumb smart, they realize that they themselves don't have the answers, so follow the appropriate channels to enlist the help of someone who is sold to them as being smart smart. It's all fricked up man. As if it isn't just all insurance against number going down.

My experience in consulting: Consultants don’t want you to know this one trick: Invest the money you spend on consultants in long-term R&D and transformational innovation ideas. You may ask me to be more specific to which I answer: no. There are people in your company that already know where to spend the money. The crazier the idea, the better. Spend the money, just spend the money. As a consultant, I’m begging you.

Funny thing, as a history major I do genuainely know many others that are focused on stuff as recent or more recent than 1997. That's what most of those "______-Studies" majors are researching too. Basically anything that's not in the news anymore, you've got someone looking into. If you're writing about ancient Rome you're more likely to be a classicist or archeologist because the actual recorded history of Rome has been beaten to death already.

The Intelligence Vs. Wisdom dichotomies is one of the most interesting to me. It is good to have humility to listen to people that are smarter than you, the problem is however, when you are (int)dumb (wis)smart you do not have a good way of knowing if the person you are listening to is actually smart smart or (int)smart (wis)dumb.

@@pyramear5414 Researching requires you to be (int)smart still, to put the information together in a logical way where you can interpret it correctly. It is not an easy thing to do for many people. The worst thing about being (int)dumb is that you are prone to misinterpretation of logical truths, aswell as logical untruths. It is a method deficiency fundamentally.

He’s got a point, only caveat being he’s saying it backwards which just goes to prove his self placement. The first word modifies the second not the other way around. An easy way to tell is just to add the word person behind it. A dumb smart person is someone smart who might be lacking in social queues, communication or common sense while a smart dumb person refers to someone who society might not consider smart but has other skills and competencies making them experts in their respective fields of intelligence
