I like to think Louie's 2017 fall from grace was ironically one of the best things that could have happened to him as a person. He can 100% be himself now, even more so then he was back in the day, he doesn't have to hide probably his biggest unfortunate secret about himself anymore. Also, it's brought his comedy back down to Earth. In a way, it seems him having to start over has sharpened him comedically and has restored a bit more of his humility, which in my opinion, had been fading majorly the last few years before the scandal broke out. Just a couple of personal observations being a huge Louie fan over the years.

I'd be skeptical of the information they give. While it is certainly entertaining, some information is incorrect and they skate past important topics. For instance, in the last episode, Louis incorrectly stated that the Rosenburgs were innocent. The Rosenburgs were perceived by the public to be innocent, Bob Dylan even wrote a song about them, but with what we know now, we know that they were guilty spies.

American history would dry up fast, its only been around for 244 years, thats nothinggg compared to most countries, ie Britain (well England, Wales, Scotland etc, 1707 is when we unified as Britain i think) has been around since the 10th century (1000+ years!), America is still a baby when you compare to that. This might annoy some Americans but I see America as an extension of British history...you are us kinda, just you said screw taxes which I totally understand lol...but you still became everything you rebelled against in the end.

This history series has fantastic rewatch value, and I hope to see more of the like in the future. It's taken me 3 hours to watch each episode, though, as I find myself every 10 minutes or so opening a new tab and locating whatever footage or facts are brought up during the conversation. To boot, the young man clearly intoxicated, or "high", on edible marijuana snacks and fumbling around on his cellular phone most of the time was a great gag, too, fellas. Cheers to a prosperous 2020, everyone! Ain't nothing bad gonna happen this year!

At 34:36, (kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZal2KifZ9SwlbA.htmlsi=lwnvhLxSYEjcByPS&t=2076) Louie confuses Jerry Rubin with Tom Hayden, whom were both "Yippies" and both of these men who spoke in Chicago protesting the Vietnam War, amongst other issues, were accused of crossing state lines to incite riots, conspiracy and became defendants in the infamous "Chicago 7" trial which accused Jerry Rubin and Tom Hayden as well as Abbie Hoffman, whom Louie mentioned when confusing Jerry Rubin and Tom Hayden (who was actually to Jane Fonda). Rubin became a wealthy capitalist and Hayden became a California legislator.

The 1964 LBJ/Barry Goldwater election is worth learning about too. It was really the first time that "Democrat" and "Republican" were aligned so exactly with "liberal" and "conservative" philosophies the way they are now. Republicans like Eisenhower and even Nixon bought into the essential New Deal vision of government as providing for people's welfare in a more comprehensive way. Barry Goldwater was the first Republican with a more Libertarian philosophy of government as an oppressor that should be reduced in size to best protect people's freedoms. Meanwhile Johnson was the last Democrat to really add robust public programs to the social safety net, including Medicare and Medicaid. LBJ was also the first Democrat to consciously brand the Democratic party as a friend to black Americans. Literally every federal civil rights bill of the 20th century was passed with Lyndon Johnson as either Senate Majority Leader, President of the Senate, or President of the United States. This combined his legitimate empathy with cold pragmatism: he knew ending segregation was the right thing to do morally, and he knew it would win Democrats the black vote. Meanwhile, while Goldwater himself was no racist or segregationist, his libertarian philosophy was against the federal government having the right to impose its rules on the southern states. This opening led to a mass exodus of former Southern Democrats to the Republican Party. At the time, Goldwater was considered a total failure, because LBJ whipped him in a historic landslide in 1964. But the coalition he created, of "get the government out of my private enterprise" Republicans and "get the government out of my traditional culture" Republicans, is the same one that first Reagan and then Trump would use to become president in later eras.
