They honestly do but considering a ton or comedians tend to be more left, weirdos have assumed SNL went full political. They've hosted plenty of independent thinkers (literally Dave Chappell) and I see these same comments across every one of the monologs...

@LilFletch926 SNL focused on Trump as a punching bag for so long, they forgot to write anything funny. SNL used to be more consistent with random skits, now, it is 85% political and 5% funny and 10% just to fill the gap.

I have seen a few podcasts where Shane addresses this. There was a lot of kick-back (of course) on the Internet, especially about the red-haired guitar player. They have been there through rehearsals, and in the actual dress rehearsal, so it's not new to them. Shane said he doesn't get the kick-back; they were all very polite, and he was glad they didn't laugh JUST because they were on camera. They told him he was funny before/after; that is good enough.

It’s cause he fought the machine and won! This single event is so much bigger than just him hosting SNL. He showed these executives that they aren’t required to “make it” and that they don’t decide what the people like. Shane got fired but then got so big on his own that they couldn’t ignore him. It’s a huge win for everything and everyone non woke.

That was a genius set up. Shane is one of the best, such a great set. One of the secrets to comedy is to keep the audience tense and just not knowing what Shane was going to say the entire set and where he was going to go and how he delivered was amazing. Guy is one of the best.
