I don't normally watch this, but the third wheel guy is actually doing a ton of heavy lifting in this. He's Keanu. He's the odd man out who needs this all explained to him so that we the audience can be told all these things without it feeling unnatural. He's doing a great job at it too.

@markcarey67 not only a college grad, he went to West Point, which takes a recommendation from a Congressman, a Senator, or the President themselves. Sure he dropped out because it wasn't for him, but he had to be smart enough to get there in the first place.

My guess is that Shane and Luis discovered a common interest when touring that they both dig history, specifically American history, specifically revolutionary wsrnstuff and then even more specifically the Presidents, so Shane probably tried getting him on the pod, Luis wouldn't want to, but agreed on doing a history pod since NO personal or current events have to talked about at all.

Damn I don't remember exactly. Maybe in the 20's or 30's. Matt said listening is the same as reading, maybe better because we are evolutionarily used to listening and reading is a relatively new thing. Shane disagreed wholeheartedly and it becomes a thing for a few episodes. Then a loser with nothing better to do in life than to listen to comedy podcasts far too much brings it up in a comment section years later

Yes, it's such a pleasure to listen to CK talk on any subject. No disrespect to CK's interlocutors, but I'm not sure he needs the other guys. I find myself waiting for them to pipe down, no matter what they are saying, none of it could be better than what CK would be saying. I like it when CK gets interviewed by someone who says the bare minimum: a one sentence question, and then just nodding with the occasional "Uh-huh or "Yeah" at most.

This is one of the all time great podcast series. I've listened to all four of these episodes in the background back to back 3 or 4 times now and it just doesn't get old. Blessed be the dawgs

This feels so natural. I’ve seen Louis CK on many podcasts, but it feels like he sees something in Shane. Like they are so comfortable. I feel like Louis sees Shane as the next big “true” comedian

I thought the same as soon as Louie said that VP was Shane’s mothers bunt. Then the show became very focused on history and less like O&A. Obviously enjoyable but peak O&A is rich imo

i would nominate YMH for a Louis appearance, as being equally deserving, although YMH circa ep. 400 might have been a better timeframe, rather than today's embodiment.
