The Prayer of Recollection: CarmelCast Episode 3

Saint Teresa of Avila proposes one particular method of prayer that she found to be most helpful in her own life: the prayer of recollection. In this episode, we discuss this practice of prayer as it is understood in the Carmelite Tradition. We also look briefly at Saint Teresa's famous analogy of the degrees of prayer: The Four Waters.

Thank you for your humble and insightful presentations. what distinguishes the dark nights of the senses and the spirit both passive and active? What are the similarities between the Theresa and John - how do her stages of prayer correspond with Johns? Thankyou

For deacon class we have to write a paper on the spirituality of 3 Catholic mystics. I happen to have chosen St Teresa of Avila and St John of the Cross as 2 of them and I have to admit struggling a little with Dark Nigjt of the Soul and Interior Castle. You pod cast is helping me get a better grasp on both of these Saints and how their spirituality can be a guide for the average layman.

Thank you for your teachings, they are very practical and easy to understand. The series is good also for those who do not have much time to read whole books on the subject or come home tired from work and prefer to listen. I would like to hear discussed topics addressed by Jesus in the gospels.
