Thank you this is so helpful. Being an older Catholic your answer to your call from God strengthens the hope we have for the future of the church in the next generations. I believe because God is in this place 😁

i didn't mean to listen to this podcast, but it started because of the auto-play mode. these have been really rough days for me, as I am sensitive to external noise to the point that it could trigger an anxiety crisis. I cry, shake like a leaf, and become really angry. To make things worse, I have also had a lot of internal noise, especially trauma-related. As an artist myself, I'm very visual, so I have images of our Lady and Jesus (and other saints) to keep me grounded when my mind wants to take me somewhere else. In the room I am now listening to you, I have a statue of our Lady of Carmel right in front of me, and i was crying because i felt i could not deal with more noise. And almost instantly, She answered my prayers with this podcast. Thank you so much dear brothers!

I have the same problem, I think I have autism! Because even as a child, Noise would drive me crazy! And now as an older person! I wake up to every little Saund! Sometimes big and small! But it bothers me so much. I have to wear something on my ears.! just like autism Saund wears it! He's very sensitive to! I am too, but nobody believes me! I have to get a CAT scan! My brain because I know there's something wrong with my brain! thank you I sympathize with you. God bless us all Lord Jesus Christ.! amen 🙏

I do not suffer to that extent, however even soft music irritates me in the morning. They just put music in our elevators where I live and it’s not elevator music but loud pop music. At first I was annoyed and now I thank and praise Our Lord for that music warns me that I am about to go out into world.

This is the best teaching on interior silence that I've heard. The friars make it so clear and simple...and it's for all of us.

"Silence is the worship due to God's holiness." Each time we encounter a mystery we can't but stay awestruck, here words become unnecessary. "All I can do is as nothing compared to what can God" through me. Moments of pauses communicate even more... Thanks, Carmelcast

I stumbled upon these podcasts … I am an older Catholic, so these guys look really really young to me but I recognize that they are speaking from the heart and sharing the truths as they know it….so now I don’t think I stumbled on these podcasts…,now I think mother Mary lead me here…. One more step closer to Jesus.

Looking at the picture of Elizabeth of the Trinity with her crucifix in hand, I realize that when I visited the Carmel in France where she was living and where she died, the Sister guestmistress allowed us to hold that same crucifix of hers. What a blessing for us.

Beautiful podcast. I was going to ask where she took "Laudem Gloriae" from, it must be something larger cause its accusative. But for the feast of the Immaculate Conception its come up twice, at First Vespers in the Canticle and Sext in the short reading! Ephesians! "qui prædestinávit nos in adoptiónem filiórum† per Iesum Christum in ipsum,* secúndum beneplácitum voluntátis suæ, IN LAUDEM GLORIAE grátiæ suæ,* in qua gratificávit nos in Dilécto, in quo habémus redemptiónem per sánguinem eius,* remissiónem peccatórum, secúndum divítias grátiæ eius,† quae superabundávit in nobis* in omni sapiéntia et prudéntia, notum fáciens nobis mystérium voluntátis suæ,* secúndum beneplácitum eius, quod propósuit in eo,* in dispensatiónem plenitúdinis témporum: recapituláre ómnia in Christo,* quæ in cælis et quæ in terra.

Hello Carmelcast..thank you for this..but can I ask for an advice?..after I pray the Rosary, (especially when I meditate on the mysteries since I'm a more visual person) it seems to me that the words of Holy Scriptures are more "luminous" like they're speaking to me personally..as for silence..It seems my prayer is not that simple yet..but what do you think? Thank you.

Thanks for your comment. Praise God that He is speaking to you in the Holy Scriptures right now! Simple prayer is not opposed to that. Often I think God will lead us from reading a lot of scripture (like sitting down and reading a whole chapter) to just sitting with a few verses or even a word or phrase. Let the Holy Spirit lead you and know of our prayers for you!

I wonder if St Elizabeth was autistic. The so called temper of hers in childhood sounds like autistic meltdowns. And her relationship with silence. Its similar to me. Not that im a saint at all. I mean personality wise. I have a lot sensory sensitivities.
