What is it like to be the owner od a Podenco Canario? Are they like a greyhound, or something else? Podenco Canario - Canary Island Hound dog breed. They are categorised by the FCI as primitive hunting dogs, why? Why and in what Podenco Canarios are similar to cats?

I agree that it was disseminated by the Phonecians. In Malta we have a similar dog called "tal fenek", which means "for rabbits". Again, we do not know when they were introduced as during the Phonicians times were not recorded.
