the actual reason was that they didn't have any fast modern cars so they wanted to first build up some more sports cars so people didn't get the idea that modern Toyotas are boring and slow. that's why they're doing more sporty marketing now that they have the supra.

That’s speculation. They’ve also said it was because people in video games were only interested in old Toyota cars and they didn’t want to be labeled as an old people cars brand. Also, they apparently have some sort of exclusivity deal with Gran Turismo. Looks like they didn’t learn from Porsche.

Toyota pulled their license because of 2 reasons: 1.Exclusivity deal with Sony for 2 years. 2. To catch people's attention playing with their phsycology. Thats why Toyota is releasing theese enthusiast cars lately, and the ones that responded Need For Speed with their twiter i bet the acted and looked like the two vanilla folks in the commercial.

When a commercial doesn’t feel like a commercial but you can still get to know the car through the commercial

I feel like this commercial is the engineers telling us they want to put a manual with the supra, but the executives and higher ups aren't letting them pulI the trigger because "mANuaLs aRe a DyiNg nUIsANcE." I actually love how this car turned out. I was in involved in the conception process of the car. It originally actually had a plexi glass on the hood and had a completely different name. It was not originally meant to be a supra, but a completely new line of production. But some how BMW got involved (I wonder why hehe) and boom heres a new Supra instead. Lovely. Nice driving and good humor!

The mk4 Supra from the 90s was built so that tuners could modify it heavily and it still remain reliable and handle that power. And is still arguably the most sought after car to this day honesty if they just built that car again enthusiasts would be happy

I like the way Toyota is bringing back the excitement of driving that used to be present in the 90's. The GR Yaris, the manual Corolla, the upcoming GR Corolla, GR86, the Supra revival and the Lexus IS500 and who knows whats next. I was missing that, thank you Toyota, please, keep doing this.

I love how self aware the ad is. Gazoo racing is amazing

I just wanted to get this car so badly so it can also speed at 155 MPH. Crazy to see how Toyota did a fantastic job by making the white Supra as a Japanese sports car, very confident and much improvement.

GR and the manual transmission is what brought me to buy my first ever Toyota. Keep up the attitude and keep the driver’s car alive. Will be trading in my 22 for a 23 to get the 6MT

@@ProtonPR101 They have stopped ads from being played because of spirited driving, so this ad would not be aired in Australia is what hes saying. But yeah aussie government hates modified cars, thats why you see them with steelies all the time instead of drag rims.

it's an 8 speed transmission and you can move the shifter to change down to a lower gear before entering a corner. So yeah, an eight speed transmission can be shifted down up to 7 times. Are you implying that an automatic transmission does not have gears to shift through? You can leave it in drive mode so it shifts automatically or you can manually shift it by either moving the shifter or pressing down on the paddles.

@@edwint1780 supra is a conventional auto which doesn't even have a fast paddle shifter like you’d expect for the price or a H pattern manual mode with one gate dedicated to D. Mate even my hyundai I30 can go into a sequential like manual.

@@Vaszune a 400+hp RWD sedan that wears everything out 60% faster because it's 5000lbs doesn't mean much. that said, the supras fine. it's the engine in 15 years im worried about when all the plastic engine parts start to crumble and you can't repair it.

Well, Toyota didn't say that. It was the Toyota UK social media manager who made the false claim about illegal street racing back in 2019. Yeah, Toyota debunked this social media manager's false claim about illegal street racing. Toyota was seen in Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6RR, Initial D The Arcade, the F9 movie, etc. The real reason why Toyota wasn't in NFS Payback and NFS Heat is because of its exclusivity deal with Japanese racing games in late 2017 to late 2019 and the real reasons why Toyota wasn't in NFS Unbound are both because of licensing budgets/issues and because of time constraints.

Enthusiasts: How about we let the drivers feel one with the car and provide a manual? Corporate: what’s a manual?

@@davidahlstrom4711 I mean they're basically the same thing, the only thing will be will you rather the supra's interior, and exterior, or the 400z, because the b58 can handle around 500 stock very reliably, and 700 with an aftermarket turbo, and the 400z will be able to produce 500 very reliably

@@dole9783 But it's marketed as "for enthusiasts" and it's weird not having a manual with that marketing, most enthusiasts have two cars an auto daily for city driving and a manual project, sometimes even two manuals but a car like this is something people wanna work on, get more power, lower it, change wheels, exhaust etc. etc. by not having a manual option people will not really see a point in getting one as manual cars generally are more fun to drive.
