I’m a 90s Honda guy crying in jealousy over how cool Toyota has become. The GR lineup, the honest connection to grassroots motorsports, and all the right names in the game (Ken Gushi, Fred Aasbo, Sara Choi, Larry Chen, etc) who were called in to make this project come alive. Bravo Toyota. Y’all totally knocked this one out of the ballpark.

You're literally making me happy to be marketed to! There's clearly such genuine mischievous joy in making these videos and teasers. Absolutely incredible.

It’s great that Toyota is poking fun at themselves. Up until recently they’ve been purely market data driven and they know it. I don’t think this has hurt the brand necessarily either. Now that they are doing fun again the general consumer thinks not only is this fun but it also carries the reliability of the Toyota name.

@c3 Pino, I agree. I personally think most automakers look to Toyota for direction for their own direction; -Other automakers: Toyota is keeping it conservative and are selling cars left and right. So we should follow that formula. -But I honestly think that Hyundai , with their N models and non-traditional styling, has stirred things up in the auto industry these past 5-10yrs and Toyota finally decided to start 1 upping the competitors lol

This is from my childhood hometown! Crazy to watch them jump over where I used to visit Santa. Moved to the other side of the country so I’m just now seeing this. Thank you so much for the nostalgia!

The Ending gave me chills. I can’t wait for the GR Four Corolla. Bred from rally racing along its bigger brother the GR Yaris. Thank you Toyota!

just remember, this whole 86 family started after a certain 86 from a 90's anime took the world by storm, just imagine a commercial where the AE, GT, and GR86 go for a fun time on a mountain road. Im glad the AE86 was made and was put in Initial D because that is what got me into JDM cars and cars in general.

For people that are trying to buy a fast car this car is not fast but it has a lot of character and a lot of fun to it so it's only for drifting and to have something nice in your pocket.

That ending brought me tears of excitement. This isn't an exaggeration. I'm crying rn

Exactly. I believe the GR Corolla can be the average Joe's entry into the GR line. A practical car that is fun when you want it to be. As much as I want the GR86 I can't justify it. However a GR Corolla on the other hand 😈

Hands down the best marketing series for any car! I hope they continue this with every single GR model and always get pro drifters that drift their cars to be featured in these shorts!

Dude it's like, the BIGGEST breath of fresh air to see a company that still cares about the enthusiast scene. I saw this ad on one of my youtube vids and watched the whole thing, and I was so blown away that I had to comment on it so I looked up the ad. I'm so hyped and who knows... Crazy seeing this happen in the St Charles town mall, I grew up racing my pinewood derby cars there

These guys know if they try to bring back the 90s JDMs back the fanbase will go bonkers

3 words after seeing this: SAVE THE MANUALS! Already contacting my local dealer regarding the GR Corolla!!!

Can't wait! Now, pls talk to the dealers across the US and tell them not to add dealer mark ups.

Old St charles mall in IL! So cool that they used it. I used to go there when it was opened but Unfortunately the mall is forever closed.

Ending got me in subzero chills!

I love how self aware this commercial is, especially with the two executives that clearly doesn’t know both their product and their buyers, totally obviously to the meaning, the history and the purpose of what they sell, being rather more focused on outdated methods and irrelevant preoccupations. It is also a brilliant idea because it helps the commercial to not focus solely on the stunts either which could quickly become repetitive and boring. Well done Toyota, if you could give the same message to your friends at BWM that you’d be sweet of you.

Best car trailer I’ve seen in a while! That ending was great! Top marks Toyota!! Can’t wait to get my hands on the GR86. The Supra and Yaris were great to drive 😀😀

I live in Norway, here the GR86 is USD 70k. I could get crazy electric cars that accelerate twice as quick for the same price (no taxes on electric cars). I still went down and ordered the 86. Thank you Toyota for producing these machines - now the long wait begins 🚗

I own a 23 GR 86. People like you that don’t want a lifeless electric are what will keep these cars alive, at least for now.. A shout out to you from the USA. I used to own an MR 2 which is a totally Toyota produced sports car. Any talk of a new MR2 has mentioned it being electric or hybrid. Just yuck. Not what a sports car should be.

Probably the best most action packed ad I’ve ever seen. AMAZING!

I work in branding/advertising and this is SUCH a smart strategy-it's exciting without being self-important, and directly addresses/satirizes objections that have built up towards Toyota over the years (it's too corporate; it's bland; Toyota doesn't make fun cars; etc). The long-term teaser strategy over the GR Corolla has been spot-on, too. Marvellously fun stuff!

That place the car was inside and outside of was the Charlestowne Mall! RIP Charlestowne Mall! You were my childhood. I loved that place when I was a kid. I’d have McDonald’s before getting on the carousel with my mom. I was bummed when the carousel was disassembled. It was my favorite thing about the place! Where’s a time machine when you need one?

Are the manual gr86 very limited production? None of my local dealers can get/order the manual? They all have one or two automatic in stock.

And then you realize that in order to create this ad, Toyota’s marketing team had to present the idea of making fun of Toyota’s marketing team to Toyota’s marketing team.

This is GOLD 😂
