    The story is a ton of comics had gone on before him, and the crowd kept booing everyone. So when Bill went up he had had enough of it and just let em have it. Philly is notoriously a tough crowd, but on this night they were particularly rude, and Bill just wasn’t having it. He saw a bunch of his friends get treated like shit that night, so he gave it back in kind. It wasn’t just him having a bad show, they had been booing comics for like 9 hours at this point.

    They had gotten drunk, and had booed a lot of comedians right off the stage. And right before Bill came out, they booed one of his comedy heroes, Dom Irrera, off the stage, and then they started in on him. He wasn't going out like all the others!!

    Taken directly from Wikipedia: "Opie and Anthony's Traveling Virus was the first of three comedy event series, concert tour in 2006, starring comedians featured on the Opie and Anthony show on XM Satellite Radio and CBS Radio. The tour is notable for the Philadelphia incident where comedian Bill Burr went on a 12-minute tirade attacking the audience after the previous act, Dom Irrera, was heckled heavily by the crowd". I'm pretty sure there's an interview on KZread where Bill Burr talks about his Philly rant.

  • @emcsquare5045
    @emcsquare50453 жыл бұрын

    The crowd was booing everyone Dom Irrera, Tracy Morgan, and a bunch of others and when Bill got up they started booing him also, so he just snapped. When he got off stage Bob Saget was standing there because he was going up next, he apologized to Saget and he said, no need, you've just become a legend with that.

    Philadelphia is notorious for being a tough crowd. After several days of long shows, the crowd drunkenly booed a bunch of comedians off stage, including Dom Irrera (long-time famous comedian who Bill Burr looks up to) which just set Bill off. He went out there and wanted blood. The crowd didn't deserve the amazing show they were getting, so he gave them something they did deserve. This was a defining moment in Bill Burr's career, and really earmarked him as a great stand-up comic. I'd recommend pretty much anything by Patrice O'Neal, who was a good personal friend of Bill's, right up until Patrice passed. Some good Patrice bits are The Nasty Show, Harrassment Day, Patrice O'Neal Talks About Women, and pretty much anything else from his special Elephant in the Room. The man was an absolute legend, and left us much too soon.
