Basically, they were booing EVERY comedian off stage, and Bill was so pissed that he decided he was just going to go out there and attack everything they love and refuse to let them drive him off. Funny how you hear a mix of boos and laughter, and at the end he did get applause, LOL. He's a legend.

"What did we miss" - the beginning. It was the Philly crowd was booing comedians all day.. and Burr had enough..

He was booed off the stage and Bill knew it was going to be a rough night. - Most people after him killed it (Ralphie May, Patrice, Bob Saget, to name a few) - After 2-3 hours the sun started to go down and people were getting wasted. Bill said he could feel the crowd was getting rowdy - Tracy Morgan did 7 minutes and left in a hurry because the crowd was so hostile. - Dom was booed off the stage and that set Bill off. Rest is history

The lineup had some of Bill's idols and they got booed of stage and he didnt want to go out but his contract said he had to do a 15 minute minimum,so he went out and roasted all of them,he said in interview that crowd was drunk

There was a long show that he was apart of and the crowd was extremely rough and booing even local comedians. He wasn’t about that and snapped on everyone.

Yo my cousin and i went to this exact show! My cousin is from philly but im from nyc. This show was crazy cause it was mostly clapping but in the mix there were some serious boos! The corner of the room started booing him right from the start and we couldn't figure out why but thats what set bill off! I mean the crowd was giving no comedian that night a break! Philly folks are no joke i tell ya! It was lit though one of the best comedy shows ive ever been too. We were joking cause we were saying bill better have some serious security after the show. Lol. But it was all love most of everyone was still clapping at the end. See if you have a open mind and not take shit so personal its part of the show. But some were not feeling it ...was crazy as hell fellas!

As a Philly transplant to south carolin (go gamecocks!) They came at him and he came right back. That is exactly how you get love and respect in Philly. You cant roast Philly, you make them laugh their asses off.

I was there, everyone was cheering and laughing at the rant (very few respectful people). Except the people who were drunk, booing ever comic, not caring that people are trying to watch a show, and some were just throwing frisbees to each other like it was a normal day a the park. It was a cluster fuck of non-sense and stupidity.

One of the best reactions to my favorite comedy clip of all time, I hope y’all went back and watched the longer version

The guy who interrupted him was Patrice O'Neill who went on earlier that day with his standup.....he brought up Vincent Propalligo another stand up comic. Patrice and Bill were close friends and I think Patrice was just fucking with him knowing he was torching the entire city, haha.

This was near the end of the "Opie and Anthony Travelling Virus" tour show in Philly. This was the second day of a 3 day long show. The crowd started drinking early at an outdoor event and they just shit on almost everyone they dragged on stage, including Dom Irerra, a veteran stand up comic and writer. So Bill wasn't hopeful when it was his turn to go up, they started Booing right off the hop. He tried two bits and they wouldn't let up. He got so thrown off his game, he just went off. And shit on them for the rest of his set. It ended up turning the crowd around for the rest of the show.

You have to understand the context here. The crowd sat through hours of stand up already, got drunk and acted shitty. The first guy to go on, no one remembers out of kindness, got destroyed by the afternoon Philly crowd. Morgan dipped out after about seven minutes. Saget and O'Neal apparently did great, but Irrera got mercilessly booed almost from the jump-and Burr was up next.

Yo this happens only once in a lifetime . Comedy crowds are hard ..and drunk, in the case. I don't know how he did it .. but that's BILL BURR. Mad respect.

Not every act was booed before him but enough that he threw his act away and just heckled the crowd. Brutal.

I think the guy offstage with the mic said Vincent Papale. He was the bartender that went to open tryouts for the Eagles and made the team. There was a movie about him. Mark Walberg was in it.

Yes indeed.. the guy was trying to give Bill some more stuff to use but he should not have interupted Bill when he was in the zone.

As a Dallas boy, this made me love Bill Burr more than anything ever.

This has to hurt them all more seeing how he’s a Bruins, Patriots, Celtics and Sox fan. They all won championships around the time he was going on this rant. So he was able to back up all these points.

Burr became a legend among stand-up comedians for having their backs. That crowd wasn't there to be entertained. They were there to make performers as miserable as they possibly could. Burr wasn't having it and used his entire 12 minute set to go off in the nastiest way possible. It was every comedian's dream of saying everything they only thought about saying to a heckler...and more.

The interview he does about this is pretty awesome too. "They were a horrible crowd to the comedians before me so I came out and attacked everything they loved."

Nick cannon should listen to this he might learn something

This was the Opie and Anthony virus tour in Philadelphia, (O&A used to be a populair radio program in NY and later on satellite) they crowd had been booing of comics all night long as the O&A crowd where drunk savages as usual. Bill tried to do his act first they started booing and Bill had enough and started to trash the Philly crowd. You'll probably get a couple of these, but here's the story behind this whole thing. Essentially, the crowd that night was filled with the ruddest, drunkest crowd ever. They'd been booing everyone who came before him, including some people he really respected. In this, he was the final act, but instead of doing his bit, he decided her was just going to drag the whole damn city down the way they were doing to all the comedians before him.

You guys....You guys! This reaction is up there with Frankenstein's Lab as having the funniest reaction to this. Epic.

That's part of the story of The Philly Rant, the fact that THEY DON'T HAVE THE ENTIRE Beginning - there are about two minutes of audio missing from this clip at the very beginning, but in all the other clips those two minutes are shown with Bill Burr just frozen on the screen until they get to where this one starts out. I have no life and have seen every version out there, dozens of times each. I am such a fucking nerd that I can tell you that this particular clip is the best one in terms of the crowd noise - that's the only reason why I would choose this one even with the two minutes clipped off at the beginning, which is what some of the other posters are talking about. When I say that the crowd noise is better on this one, I mean that there are two different sound recordings of the crowd, taken from two different locations in the arena, and this is by far the funniest one. I have literally studied The Philly Rant for hours and hours and hours. I have no life. Thanks. G'nite.

The person talking on the mic (It might have ben Patrice O'Neal) was mentioning Vincent Papale -- the guy who tried out for and made the Eagles. He wanted Bill to go on a rant about him. They did a movie about him. This was all part of the Opie and Anthony Virus Tour from around 2005.
