As someone who has worked in the medical field for years, both in allopathic and naturopathic worlds, I'm always amazed at how each side is so adamant that the other is terrible. The truth is, I've seen people suffer and even die using both approaches. It's always refreshing to see someone focused on what helps people and willing to think differently about their current approach.

Thank you for this episode. My son is in his early 20’s and has all the symptoms that Tyna mother has. We fight over this everyday, he says he is fine and he can barely get out of bed most days. He says I am causing him to have a bad body image. It came to a head last night and I was almost ready to give up but now more than ever I need to get him help. He has been struggling since he was 15 years old. He is gray, to skinny, joint pain, depression, brain fog and is now complaining about spine pain. This episode came just when I needed it the most.

I wonder if your son has been tested for celiac? Even if he isn't, avoiding gluten on a trial for at least a few weeks can show whether that helps. I’m so sorry to hear that you’re both struggling with these physical health issues. As has been implied-if not empirically proven-physical health problems can and do definitely impact mental health and can make existing mental health issues and disorders more active…? I hate to use the word “worse” so, forgive me for what probably sounds like an ambiguous term. Like a comment above, I was also going to mention celiac disease or celiac sensitivity as something to look into. A mother is only as “happy” as her “un-happiest” child.😢 I’ve said a prayer for healing, peace of mind and strength. 🙏🏼 Never stop listening to your gut; especially when it’s your child involved. Even if your child is not a child in the chronological sense. That can be a slippery slope, as most mothers are well aware. Take the best care of yourself as is possible. Good luck and Godspeed. You both can do this. 👊🏼🙏🏼🙂

⚠️ I feel like the bulk of these comments are being left BEFORE they’ve watched a good bulk of the episode! She did not promote GLP1 as a weight loss drug. There is so much to unpack here. My suggestion is watch the whole thing first before you read the comments and form your own opinions. Everything isn’t for everyone Period! I am not co-signing nor am I dismissing what she’s presenting. The problem with society is we are so easily distracted/manipulated by media and what they want us to believe. We put all of trust in doctors rather than being advocates for ourselves. We know our body’s better than anyone, at least we should but I’m glad Steven brings guest on that are going to have a profound/poignant effect on the viewer. Don’t shoot the messenger! Oh and stop judging people based on whether or not they wear ink… I’ve seen some really discriminatory comments about her level of intelligence because she has tattoos. That’s so dumb! I’m a 44 year old guy who has been struggling with underlying insulin resistance, mild anxiety and depression and really struggling to drop the fat around my lower back and abdomen. I train hard, eat well, and really look after myself. I just felt like I was spinning my wheels and it was starting to get me down with the lack of results I was getting from all my hard work I was putting into myself. I’ve kept my training routine 3-4 strength training sessions, I eat 180-200g protein per day, walk most evenings and introduced 0.25mg of Semaglutide per week. My results have been amazing! I feel strong, clear, and my body is rapidly changing before my eyes. I feel like a warrior! I have so much more drive and clarity. I had a minor upset stomach a day after my first injection and that was it. My appetite has decreased but not to the extent I can’t eat. I have no cravings for sugar or junk and once I’ve finished my meal I’m done and have no desire to shove anything else into my mouth. It’s been Smooth sailing. The thickening that she has spoken about is real and not just in woman as I’ve experienced it to. My bloodwork is near perfect but I couldn’t put my finger on why I wasn’t getting the results from the work I was putting in. It has been the missing link I’ve been looking for and stocked I pulled the trigger and gave it a go. It’s worked so well that I haven’t gone up in dose and stayed on the minimum dose available. Just my two cents for anyone who can relate and are on the fence about trying a GLP-1.

I finally went to a ND recently in hopes to get some answers and after talking with her for an hour she mentioned peptide treatment (like Ozempic) as potentially being a good option for me. I’m was shocked to get that type of feedback from a ND, but at the same time I’m open to it at this point. Getting lab results back tomorrow and the conversation will continue. So we’ll see. My findings are quite up your point, we have sort circuited the diestion of minerials or should i say, extraction of minerials and digestion of meat, eggs dietary protiens to get all the nutritients from both plants and animals. We continue to see a host of people pushing eat meat only and a bunch of other talking about vegans but the none of the groups will say that the middle diet ( AKA the sugary foods is a crime against the human). I beleive our stomach acid has been broken and digesting our mineirial, vits, and amino acids are very very low. even when we suppliment we are just wasting our time hoping and praying that they work.

I often go to my allopathic doctor for testing and then to my naturopath with the results of those tests. He will help me find the recommended prescription drug's natural equivalent. We are so lucky in the United States to have such a range of supplements available to us. I feel sorry for people when I hear them say they can't get it in their country. As much as I disdain the drug companies in our country I love the supplements that are available to us. They can be pricey, but not prohibitively.

Using a standard sociopath score, they all score high. Furthermore, when investigating their claims and by the way, they are all selling some good or service, I've done meta-studies across the NIH, peer-reviewed medical journals and other "gold standard" sources [though the true is, they all have their fallibilities]. One thing I have noticed on this channel is similar to every other interview channel: there appears to be a quid pro quo on every one: "Hey, you appear on my channel and I'll appear on yours...wink wink." Ask yourself, low-information voter, why does someone with 6.6MM Subscribers constantly beg for "Likes"?

I have used ozempic (lowest dose) due to a pre diabetic diagnoses and gut issues and I was gaining weight while not eating that much. In my experience I would never recommend i took It 7 weeks. Worst cramps I ever had in my life and was nauseous all the time. A few months after that, I ended Up in the hospital several times due to severe abdominal pains. They couldnt find anything. So i went on my own journey of finding out what I had. Took a very expensive gut microbiome test and found out I had leaky gut. Been fasting - eliminating processed foods - Lots of bone broths and gluten free. Pre diabetes is gone for over 1 year now, lost 20 kilos my overall mood is so much better. Maybe as a last resort and on monitored use It can help Some people but i would recommend trying natural remedies first.

I also abandoned what I refer to as the American diet and went to a no sugar, low carb, no GMO’s, no highly processed foods with mostly organic, free range, grass fed… I also do intermittent fasting and an occasional fasting day and walking a lot. I stopped alcohol and use natural sugar alternatives like Monk Fruit and similar plant based sweeteners for when I bake with almond flour instead of highly processed wheat flour. I stopped the nasty highly processed oils and use only Olive, Avocado, butter, coconut oil, ghee, and beef tallow. I lost 30 kilograms. At 65 year of age at 5’ 11” I weigh 170 pounds (77 kilos) and am on no prescription meds. I look like I’m 50. I do supplements that I determine are best for me, and my lab work prove that my choices are the right choices. Big food profits by making us fat and sick. Big Pharma profits by “treating” but not curing our illnesses. Big medicine and big insurance profit off our sickness while colluding with big Pharma. It is an evil and criminal conspiracy to steal money from us while sickening us and shortening our lives.

Great channel, I’m subscribed and loving it. Thank you! Today’s guest Tyna Moore is so knowledgeable in her field of work, so interesting to listen to. I will be googling her and watching more of the work she does. I’m taking Ozempic, started on a low dose 0,25mg for 4 weeks then 0.5mg for another 4 weeks. I’m now on 1mg/week and it is really improving my general health. I’m 56 and I have diabetes and other medical conditions so being overweight is a daily struggle for me, now that I have been on Ozempic for 10 weeks, I already feel amazing! I still have an appetite but not so much any cravings. I plan my meals well with proteins and crudités, vegetables. I have lost 7 kilos to date because I can walk better and longer and now that i see profound benefits, Ozempic is a life changing drug for me 😊

@@cherylc4578 I’m nearly 57 and have been dieting for years and never lost as much weight as with Ozempic. I am simply not obsessed with food anymore and what a relief it is. Many will disagree with taking this wonder drug but Ozempic works well for me. It helps me with cravings, lower my diabetes, lower my high blood pressure. I don’t think about food anymore, I eat when I’m hungry, 2 meals a day made out of proteins like chicken breast, eggs or fish with salad or veg. I can now do much more things like walking and swimming as I’m not as heavy as before. I can walk without chronic pains on my back and feet. The swelling on my face and neck has gone, pfewwww… My body was so inflamed, I have water retention so my wrists and ankles were also swollen. I feel so much better and nurses check my blood results and blood pressure regularly. So far so good! I am going to stay on the 1 mg dose as I don’t need a higher dose. I have had diarrhoea and that’s the only thing that is a bother but it is now better since I am staying clear of dairy products. Hopefully in a month time I will be able to change my wardrobe as the weight loss is quite incredible. I was so miserable and so unhappy to be overweight. Now I feel alive and I deserve to live my life to the fullest, I’m a lot happier and my confidence is so much better. On the plus side the people around me are noticing the changes and the compliments are flooding that I am on a natural high so I don’t mind the Ozempic face and I disregard the negative comments cause I feel goooood! 😀😜

Important takeaways: 1. She's not talking about the drug Ozempic. She's talking about the peptide Semaglutide -- a compounded version of it, NOT made by a big pharma company and NOT in an auto-injector. 2. She is more researched on the use of this compound than ANY physician that you're going to come across, and also who will freely write you a script for it based on ZERO of their own study time and 100-percent based on drug industry marketing materials. 3. She is discussing using NOT for weight loss. 4. She is discussing using it at MUCH LOWER doses than any mainstream physician does. 5. Although not an M.D., she is a licensed prescriber and possesses two biology undergrad degrees from two different institutions, a Doctor of Chiropractic, and an N.D. certification. That's 13 years of academic training and 15 years of clinical practice she is speaking from. And lastly, her state considers her a Doctor and also gives her the right to prescribe. It doesn't matter if you don't consider her one.

At 34:28 Tyna says, "You can't control the doses [of the pens]." Actually, you CAN control them. You just have to count the clicks as you turn the dial to select the dose you want. With the Ozempic pen available in Australia the 0.25ml dose is 20 clicks. So if you want 0.4ml instead of a 0.5ml dose, you just stop turning after 32 clicks instead of 40. I will mention that when I discussed this with my pharmacist he warned me that the pens only have an effective lifespan of 6 weeks from the time the seal within the pen is broken.

I finally went to a ND recently and it was expensive out of pocket, but it’s been a completely refreshing experience compared to traditional practice with a primary care Dr. She had me come in for a 90 minute initial consult and picked my brain on everything related to my health and habits and history (and this was after I had already filled out a long questionnaire from her) and then she immediately requested that I get in-depth labs. Like this ND, she also mentioned to me the possibility of peptide treatment, which shocked me tbh, but at this point I’m open to it. I get my lab results back tomorrow and I’m so excited for the possibility of addressing targeted issues and feeling better. Going to a ND is money but my health is worth the money. We can scale back on other things in our monthly budgeting and make room for this bc I’m tired of feeling crappy.

If she graduated from an accredited four-year naturopathic medical school and passed the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Exam (NPLEX), she would be considered a Naturopathic Doctor (ND)[5]. However, the term "certified" suggests she may have a certification rather than a full ND degree. An Expert in holistic regenerative medicine: This indicates specialized knowledge but is not a formal medical degree. She keeps referring to her mentor and not schooling. What testing has she done in microbiome? She also said her colleague was a ND but never refers to herself that way. Thank you for having this conversation. I think Dr. Tyna is sincere in her opinions. This is what doctors used to be like before algorithms and managed care. Doctors used to be scientists who tried different therapies with their patients, watching and monitoring carefully and course correcting when required with the motto of "Do no harm" - now much less is required of doctors - they don't have to be curios and think for themselves - to be safe now means to follow the dogma. They can't be blamed if something goes wrong because that is "the standard". My biggest challenge now is finding any kind of doctor that approaches this level of curiosity. They don't have time/energy for it and it has been "trained" out of them. If you do your own research and want to talk to them about it you either get a glazed look, or outright hostility/defensiveness. That's why people are taking their health into their own hands and experimenting on themselves, because many doctors are not willing to help them outside very narrow parameters.

Thank u, I agree. That look at u like ur crazy because ur studying ur own body & results based on your elimination etc but they treat u like ur inept because ur not an MD. They are also not trained extensively to cure our baseline issues instead of our symptoms. People need to be cured not suffer by masking symptoms & no support. Why do people have to suffer forever until they die? I love how she does her research because it helps the masses & gives them more choices so as not to give up & life, plus live a more active life.

This is all great and all, but I found it a bit ironic that someone who promotes naturopathy/holistic health, after listing why we are all metabolically ill in the first place (like the food industry and toxic chemicals) would recommend the peptides to “cure” yourself as opposed to lifestyle changes only. Ozempic just sounds like another bandaid approach.

3:56 She defines Allopathic medicine (which is in itself a derogatory term for modern medicine; as algorithmic approach to cure diseases based on diagnosing the symptoms. Then she goes to explain that Naturopathic medicine is based on curing the individual not the disease. Then at 20:35 she says that the whole protocol that she put her mother through, she applied to herself. Which is by definition algorithmic approach to curing a disease not the individual. 11:21 A physician that describes her mother as "the curvy one unlike me" is approached by her mother that has become gaunt and "grey" and said physician completely ignores her patient. Then she starts throwing everything she has got and learned at her mother, once she is convinced that patient has not been ticking well. Not only this is a gross ethical issue of treating a family member, it showcases her observational skills in her immediate surrounding. 20:38 The first time she said something that makes any sense: if your brain and mind are the primary source of agitation, then your body including your hormones, gut, etc. will be influenced as well. Although it is in direct contradiction of her earlier assessment that "when the gut is inflamed the brain is inflamed." The whole chapter titled "Discovering Ozempic" just shows that naturopathic practitioners are full of it! She bangs on about treating the human, the individual, no the disease and then she goes about harping how once she knew the disease (Psoriatic arthritis) then she pulled all the stops on how to treat herself. What a bunch of bull-crap "naturopathic medicine is about getting to know how to make you tick and heal you, not your diseases." 41:00 Cycling a prescription drug to treat a disease. Again no mention of how to treat an individual but rather the symptoms of a disease. She's got a bit of brain fog, let's get a bit of GLP-1 going. After this, it's all the prearranged study reviews with lots of "I think this is due to that" statements, her sample sizes are all her friends and her patients. For more information on Metabolic Syndrome you would be better off reading or listening to Robert Lustig. He goes over the science of what's been going on the issue for far longer and in more details.

Peptides, hormones, and vitamins are not drugs. I'm not sure why this is unclear. All of these things can be "prescribed", but are all present in the body. People need help assessing whether they have an imbalance or deficiency and choosing the proper amount of each. This also requires ongoing monitoring and adjusting. Your practitioner matters.

Love your podcast but this episode was a huge miss for me. Her anecdotal evidence on semaglutide seems irresponsible to promote this very nuanced drug. Ive seen many people suffer, including myself. I had terrible suicidal ideation, depression and abdominal pain. It led to me having and endoscopy/colonoscpy where my gastro found autoimmune gastritis and gastric atrophy. The doctor told me I can never take the drug again as it could be catastrophic for my conditions. Ozempic/semaglutide are prescribed without doing proper testing and people could have underlying issues that the drug could make so much worse! I also have autoimmune thyroiditis, hashimotos, and it did not help any of my symptoms at all, just made everything exponentially worse and caused some new scary mental health crisis.

Just the first couple of minutes have got me excited to hear this because I JUST got my prescription for Ozempic yesterday. After hearing so many horror stories about it, it's encouraging to know there are meaningful benefits in addition to weight management that may have a positive impact on my health.

All medications have side effects. Some people are more sensitive than others to them. All medicines you can overdose on. Ozempic has its clear benefits, glycemic control and weight loss used at the correct dose and if tolerated by the patient. It’s really that simple.

Please don’t simplify the process and the complexity of the biological process. It’s not simple. The fact you think it’s simple conveys the Dunning Kruger effect in plain view.

@@HelioPopTart If you read what I wrote, I never said the biological process and mechanism were simple. Neither is the clinical indication and assessment when getting it prescribed. What’s simple is being able to determine whether Ozempic has a net positive or a negative outcome as it’ll vary from person to person.

It took me years of exercise and diet to fix mine. So this is a game changer for people. This goes against eveything I've heard about Ozempic.

I agreed so much with what she said… you go to a doctor office and you are not counseled on anything . Who are holding doctors accountable??? Teachers are held accountable for their students learning every day… but no one is holding doctors accountable for how they are treating patients.. the laws need to change…

Love this interview, learned so much! I'm part of that 94% that she mentions at 1:02:15 cardio metabolically busted...only found this out this year at age 40 by taking one of those LifeForce diagnostic tests (blood drawn then fancy dashboard making it easy to see metrics) and my cardiovascular and metabolic risk were both super high. I am prediabetic only found out through the test and taking semiglutide and vitamin d and other supplements recommended. I'm not kidding when I say I haven't felt this neutral/better (previously felt sluggish, tired all the time with gastro issues) since 2018.

It looks very likely that in the future a lot of people will benefit from micro-dozing Ozempic or a similar substance. However it's hard to believe that the side effects are almost non existent.
