The Origins of Arnold
Фильм және анимация
It's the 20th anniversary of the 1996 Nicktoon Hey Arnold! In honor of the occasion, we'll be doing our 3rd themed month of videos of 2016 about the timeless Nicktoon. We've received the most requests of doing an episode of From Pilot to Final Product on Hey Arnold. However, Patricia decides to showcase the origins of how the character was created, the different adaptations, and how the show was eventually greenlit for Nickelodeon.

@@brysonrobinson524 I did a lot of research to prepare for this video. Plus, I remembered the claymation short “Arnold Sitting on a Chair” when I was 5 years old watching it on Sesame Street.
One of the best animated shows of all time. Even as an adult it is just as enjoyable, if not more enjoyable than when I was younger.

I saw Harriet the Spy when it came out in theaters, and thus saw the pilot to Hey Arnold! My response? "Well, there's something I'll never watch!" This might be the most inaccurate prediction I've ever made about myself. The me of that day would never have imagined how much she'd come to love these characters, or what a huge impact the show would have on her. Or that she'd obsess over rewatching it 21 years later, just dying to see the forthcoming movie.
Hey arnold has a substance to it that touches people. It even got away with grownup jokes without being trashy(chocolate boy, the junky lol). I especially love the music from Jim Lang. He is extremely talented, capable of composing many flavors from jazz, country, hip hop, classical, ect. My favorite score composer.
This is seriously a gem ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The claymation arnold segments look like they are animated at Misseri Studio (The same studio who made Mio Mao and Bert and Ernie’s great adventures) or Will Vinton

I remember watching peewee’s playhouse in the 90s I was always so confused as to why there was a claymation Arnold on the show during the Penny segment! Like we knew that was 100% the same Arnold but I was so thrown off hah. Now I finally have my answer all these years later!!! Great informative video!
I miss when Nickelodeon was a network for cartoons instead of a borderline 24/7 SpongeBob Network.

He was also a main character on the television show Picket Fences at the time. He played the middle child. That's how I knew him before Hey Arnold. I used to watch that show every week. Justin's character was my favorite for the show...but I blame that on my age at the time. He was closest in age with me and I could relate to the character he played slightly more.

Hakajin That's how I first saw it...when my younger cousins and I saw Harriet the Spy. I wasn't as young as you, though. I was about 14 at the time going on 15. The movie was okay, but I really liked the Hey Arnold short. I was definitely looking forward to seeing more of it when I found out it would be airing on television. I thought it was funny. Any kid who would beat himself up to music to avoid a bully doing it was awesome in my book. lol
2:33 pause at that moment, you can see pokey in the right corner
Can you please do a video about Ned's Declassified Survival Guide?
Why did Harold quote Ben Grimm's catchphrase from Fantastic Four
Do lilo and stich month and life as teenage robot month please and Jackie Chan adventure month
At first I thought "hey Arnold" being in the dark of Bruce Wayne over his lost parents and he ignores his heart for Helga all the time especially they both decided to Forget about it in the 2002 feature film, I thought was just average series with no specific conclusion just like all the other recent programs ending on a no "to be continued" story.
Can yo I do a video on the wild thornberrys?
It was only until the jungle movie and looked it afterwards and discovered it was part of canon franchise not a reboot or a stupid sequel.
claymation ones seem scary af tbh

@@commanderclean7785 Gerald, you mean. Gerald is the cool African-American kid who is Arnold's best friend, the orator of all the known local legends of Hillwood (the name of the city that Arnold and friends live in that's a combination of Seattle, Portland & Brooklyn) & the love interest of Pheobe Heyerdahl, Helga's best friend/sidekick/the resident smart Asian of the regular group of children. Harold Berman is the older (he's 13 but still in 4th grade within show context) overweight part-time bully with Jewish background who often screams for his mommy when being threatened with physical violence. Harold often refers to Helga as "Madame Fortress Mommy".
the original voice of harold from the pilot sounds more like a 12-13 year old boy rather than he usually sounds like a 16-17 year old boy (he is supposed to be 12-13 and most boys still have innocent youthful boy voices at that age)

Yep. The clay shorts aired on both _Pee-Wee's Playhouse_ & _Sesame Street_ the same year that both _The Simpsons_ [ j.gifs.com/Vm4w61.mp4 ] (as animated by _Rugrats'_ creators Klasky-Csupo, for whose 1990's Nickelodeon juggernaut about those "Dumb Babies" Craig storyboard episodes, story edited episodes, and as assistant writer to head writer Paul Germain, they both co-created Angelica Pickles as yet another bossy blond tsundere in pigtails) & Paul Ruebens' man-child alter-ego Pee-Wee Herman [ j.gifs.com/k5GGlY.mp4 ] made cameos on _Sesame Street_ as Craig was a writer-animator for JIm Henson at the time, hence why his _Dinosaur Train_ (which he created) & _Sid the Science Kid_ (for which he's the primary story editor, much like how he was on the Original 65, three-season episode run of _Rugrats_ years prior) are distributed by The Jim Henson Company's "Family" branch [ www.henson.com/family.php ].

Yep. Matt Groening based _The Simpsons_ titular nuclear (complete with literal emphasis on that included, since the confirmed reason why everyone is putrid yellow on the primetime animated family sitcom is due to a radiation leak emitted from the chemical plant family patriarch Homer works for that's owned by Mr. Burns) family on his own immediate family. Bart is based on Matt when he was a troublesome 8-year-old, the parents Homer & Marge are based on the Groening family's parents, and of course, Lisa (Craig's wife) is Matt's eldest sister (Although we don't know to what extent Lisa Groening herself is a staunch activist for progressive change or an aspiring champion for social justice, much like her animated counterpart is, however), whilst youngest daughter Maggie is the baby (whose pacifier-sucking sounds were done by Groening himself initially before they would have enough recordings of Maggie sucking her binkie to repurpose as needed). Meanwhile, the name Bart on its own is a _Rugrats_ style malapropism of the word "brat" thought up by Klasky-Csupo, since the creators of _Rugrats_ were the writers of _The Simpsons_ for the first 10 years, so they had input on building the foundation for _The Simpsons_ as an intellectual property. Craig Bartlett was not just a mere writer on _Rugrats_ however, because he effectively created in-universe Godzilla and Barbie parodies Reptar and Cynthia respectively AND was Angelica Charlotte Pickles' (another pigtailed blond tsundere) co-creator alongside Paul Germain. This would be somewhat fitting once you come to find out that Helga Geradline Pataki's well-known obsession with "Ice cream" (her & Phoebe's codename for Helga's tsundere love for her beloved altruistic "Football Head") was actually added onto Helga's characterization due to input from Craig's Lisa Simpson-inspiration wife, Lisa Groening-Bartlett, with young 3-year-old Helga from "Helga On the Couch" genuinely voiced by the Bartlett's daughter, Katie Bartlett, rather than Helga's regular voice actress, Franchesca "Franny" Marie Smith.
In 1999 he became stewie griffin, in 2000 he became Dora the explorer, in 2002 he became rapsheeba from chalkzone, in 2006 he became June from the little Einsteins, in 2007 he became super why, and 2017 he became himself for his other movie. Evolution of Arnold explained (get the joke)

Fitting that Rugrats and Hey Arnold ended & returned the same years together. 2004 and now in 2017, respectively. Rugrats as a comic series again - this time by Boom Studios - and Hey Arnold via The Jungle Movie, along with a reported 6th final season or it becoming a comic series as well.
