    I'm glad there was acknowledgement to why this film turned out to be majorly disappointing. It's another example of how badly animated films can fail when executives have too much power. This would have been much more accepting if it stayed a TV movie. That being said, it's good to know that years later, Hey Arnold would get a much more rewarding feature film called The Jungle Movie.

    Fun fact: the creator of “Hey, Arnold!”, Craig Bartlett, is related to the creator of “The Simpsons”, Matt Groening. They’re brothers-in-law since Craig is married to Matt’s sister, Lisa. Groening was even a mentor to Bartlett, which is why he’s credited under special thanks in episodes of “Hey, Arnold!” To me, the best way to describe “Hey, Arnold!” Is that it has the wholesome nature of “The Peanuts” mixed with the modern edge of “The Simpsons”.

    They thought it was a smart idea to release Doug's 1st (and only) Movie in the cinema even though it should've been made-for-TV or DTV (which not so ironically did better in that.) They wanted it released because of The Rugrats Movie's success in theaters. And yeah, the "1st" in the title sounds just wrong as if they thought it would be made into a movie series like Pokemon, Shrek, Despicable Me, Ice Age, Toy Story or Hotel Transylvania.

    Treasure Planet: Yes it flopped but Black Cauldron was an even worse flop since it almost put Disney out of business. But at least both films have a cult status and people defending them which is something that Home on the Range and Chicken Little don't have.

  • @raymondmcginley5676

    @raymondmcginley5676

    Жыл бұрын

    Treasure Planet isn't the most spectacular film but as of what it was I had a good time with it but Black Cauldron on the other hand, no I'm sorry I did not like that movie at all, the characters are bland and so underwritten, the story isn't particularly engaging, though the animation is gorgeous though, hell I'd even argue saying that's the only reason people like the movie cause of the visuals and dark imagery alone. Back to what I said about the characters being underwritten, Taran is just your typical "I want more in life" character as he constantly brags about how he's gonna be this great warrior but never does anything to prove himself, the princess is just a princess, that's it nothing else but I honestly can't even say she's much of that either because we never see her kingdom, her backstory, her family etc. so why should we care about this character, the old man idk how to spell just kinda stands around doing nothing important, and Gurgi do we really need to discuss what hasn't been said already, the only reasons why he's in the film is cause 1. to annoy the shit out of people and 2. to just get your hopes up for when he sacrifices himself causing the audience to cheer but then the movies like "nah just kidding here you go more Gurgi". Treasure Planet is much better, you know the characters have personalities and actually do something monumental, and Jim and the captain have a really nice dynamic. Sure ot has Ben but again not the best Disney movie ever but I did have a good time with it. And yes, Home on the Range and Chicken Little are shit.

    I remember there were so many of these theatrical movies based on kid’s shows in the early 2000s, and this was easily the worst of them. They took a great cartoon and sucked the life out of it with a boring “save the neighborhood” plot and some James Bond spy crap that made no sense. Even Helga kissing Arnold couldn’t save it. Almost like it was animated/produced with a 4:9 aspect ratio like most TV cartoons were made at the time, rather than the usual widescreen format for movies. I would rank it like this: Hey Arnold!: The Movie Jetsons: The Movie Rock-A-Doodle Hey Arnold movie saves it from being incredibly bad with the inclusion of the action climax and MIB references. Jetsons movie goes in middle place for me. It’s not really bad, but ok in my book. The first 2 were obviously my favorite guilty pleasures in movies. I haven’t seen Don Bluth’s Rock-A-Doodle, but I do know that was boring in the case of Thumbelina or Troll in Central Park.

    Hey Nickelodeon Movies fans out there, you guys should make a fan-made feature-length 2D animated sequel to RugratsIn Paris The Movie call: Rugrats Return To Paris The Movie that takes place exactly one year after the events of Rugrats In Paris The Movie and the quality of Rugrats Return To Paris The Movie needs to be so fantastic to look at than your average low-budget fan-made projects these days, it'll make you feel like you're actually watching an official feature-length Rugrats In Paris The Movie 2D animated sequel made by both Paramount Pictures Studios and Nickelodeon Movies themselves.

    "Hey Arnold" has always been one of my top favorite Nicktoons. I remember liking this movie okay, but outside of some key moments and jokes, it didn't stick with me as much as some episodes of the show. Maybe I'll give it another watch someday. Although, if there's one thing that always bothered me about this film, it's that weird lighting/shadow effect on some of the characters (i.e. Arnold, Gerald, Helga, the villain). It always looked awkward to me when every other character lacked that technique. Now with "The Jungle Movie," that was a much better experience, with much better coloring and shadow techniques.

    Here’s why the movie failed. Originally the show’s creator Graig Bartlett wanted to develop one film for tv and one film for theatres. At first, Hey Arnold the movie was supposed to be the tv film called Arnold Saves the Neighborhood. And the second movie was called the Jungle Movie, which was supposed to be for theaters. The Jungle Movie was going to rap up the cliffhanger of the show. But Nickelodeon decided to make Arnold saves the Neighborhood the theatrical realize, resulting in it bombing.

    Somewhat True. But the main truth was that Bartlett was trying to get a High School Spinoff made since the main voice cast were all growing up and reaching maturity. Viacom kept telling him no and ordered him to make this movie instead.
