I was at this game as a 14-year-old with my 11-year-old brother and our dad. I remember the word starting to spread in the crowd and people checking their phones. I remember the “USA!” chant breaking out. I’m getting chills now even writing this. Probably the most memorable game I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to well over 100 MLB games over the course of my life.

Thanks for sharing your memory man. I remember I was walking down the street from school on 9/11. My dad was just coming home. He said “hey kids something happened in the US, turn on CNN”. And then I remember when years later, President Obama announced Bin Laden’s death. I don’t even live in the States, I’m in Belgium, Europe.

As a Mets Fan I was watching this game live with my College Roommate on ESPN in our Dorm Room! Out of nowhere my Roommate pointed out on the Highlights that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. All of a sudden, my mind quickly came off the game. So we muted the game on our Big TV and listened to the President's Speech on our other TV we had in our Room! We were ecstatic when the news was confirmed!

Watched this game live, amazingly you could feel the news running thru the ballpark watching on the tube and it slowly turned into a giant celebration. U.S.A. forever!!!!

This night was surreal because it took SO long to finally get rid of Bin Laden. I remember thinking, well it's about time. I also spent time thinking of all the lives that terrible man ended. It is strange to celebrate the killing of another, but this was a human that this world is better off without.

6:30 is where I cried. I hope we see many more moments like this on national TV in our lifetime. I thought we may never defeat Bin Laden because of how much he evaded the authorities, so it was just absolutely incredible to watch and listen to this unfold in real time.
I live in Tampa Bay area so I am more shocked at how many people are at a baseball game, the Rays barely fill more than 2 rows of seats.... 😂😂🤣🤣. That being said, this was a time when we were actually united as a country. Sad where we are at today, really sad.

Especially the Rays. People want to see the Yankees or Red Sox in the World Series, not Tampa Bay. The Stanley Cup could be GREAT this year, if the Rangers get there against either Edmonton or Dallas (I prefer Edmonton). The Florida Panthers are the only one of the four teams left that can F things up, so I fully expect that to happen. It seems like hockey always has a boring Finals, with these former expansion teams, that nobody cares about.

I remember my parents calling me down to watch the news. 😂
I remember being in the army when this happened. We had just got back from Afghanistan and the word was going around that we were getting the next day off. It was a Sunday night so we were happy even though we knew nothing about what was going on. Then all the news stations started talking about the President coming on for some speech. Then it hit us when we found out the news. Leadership were all out drinking and celebrating and no one wanted to come in for work lol. I didn't mind it. Me and the boys just stayed up all night playing COD, enjoying the night off as we knew we didn't have to go in for roll call at 5am.
Crazy this just popped up on my feed today these two teams are facing each other.
Sad part that was the last time the country wasn't divided.

I heard the announcement & felt immediate peace for my husband’s death in Baghdad. ❤
I don't like to celebrate the death of anyone, but my daddy and I were watching this particular game, but lived in a dead zone. So we didn't know what was going on until Daddy changed the channel and found out for us, then went back to the game. I ran next door to tell my husband after Daddy and I hugged. I wasn't happy someone was dead, but it was definitely a very emotional moment. It felt like closure to a very horrible chapter. I was grown when 9/11 happened and remember the fear and the anger and the terror we all felt. Bin Laden needed to die for what he did. We even got ahold of Momma at work and found out she knew before we did because she had a cell signal at her job lol. Then I came back over to her and Daddy's place and watched Mets and Phillies fans actually hug haha

I was in a NYS penitentiary listening to coast to coast AM and they interrupted the program. I went to smoke a cigarette in the bathroom and told the CO and he jumped on his phone lol I got out that year and haven't been in any trouble since👍
