Set against the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris, The New Look focuses on the pivotal moment in the 20th century when the French city led the world back to life through its fashion icon Christian Dior. As Dior rises to prominence with his groundbreaking, iconic imprint of beauty and influence, Chanel’s reign as the world’s most famous fashion designer is put into jeopardy. The interwoven saga follows the surprising stories of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals from Chanel to Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga and more; and, provides a stunning view into the atelier, designs and clothing created by Christian Dior through collaboration with the House of Dior.
The new drama series from creator Todd A. Kessler is led by an ensemble cast that features Emmy Award winner Ben Mendelsohn as 'Christian Dior'; Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche as 'Coco Chanel'; Maisie Williams as 'Catherine Dior'; John Malkovich as 'Lucien Lelong'; Emily Mortimer as 'Elsa Lombardi' and Claes Bang as 'Spatz.'

Looks amazing.
One thing: Coco 1:03 Chanel’s 1930’s styles can still be worn today, not Dior’s from the same time period. Coco’s style was and is timeless.

@@ValdezJuNo that was Hugo Boss. Chanel closed her atelier. She did collaborate "horizontally" and as a spy so as to get commercial favours to regain her perfume business from the Wertheimer brothers who were her partners before the war.

1:05 Yeah life might not be black and white but selling out your Jewish financiers and co-owners to the Nazis is deplorable (fyi, they were smarter than her and had already moved to the U.S., thank goodness). Would love a film on Schiaparelli, seems like a fairer feminist, better person than Coco. Still, I'll prob give this a go, love Ben Mendelsohn, he even looks like Dior with his hair done like that, and the accent is on point. Just a bit of a pity we get another film about male exploits in fashion, but I suppose it does represent our society.

The show is also a lot about Madame Zehnacker at Dior and Christian's resistance hero sister and muse Catherine Dior.

The show is not about Coco Chanel it's about Miss Dior. Coco is part of the story because this is a story about FRENCH history though fashion and the Dior siblings ...of course Coco Chanel is part of that! Plus she had a fraught relationship with Dior, they hated each other lol! For better and for worse she's part of his journey because they belonged to the same scene. I'm actually happy that they're bringing her dark past to the forefront because nobody is talking about it.

@@talitam.8414 Yeah. I know it's about Christian Dior, did you read the rest of my comment above? The other half is dedicated to Dior and seeing another male-perspective on fashion, which I'm tired of, especially given how women are mostly into fashion, would be nice to get some more representation in this sphere (inc. in the heads of brands, atm they're basically all men).
This is the most boring series I have ever seen. The Coco - Elsa go to Spain arc is incompresensible. Coco is clearly a collaborator. The actor playing Dior is dull and one dimensional and so far, this is really a story about WWII Paris, not fashion. I'm done.
